Merrion Strand

Public beach

πŸ‘ Be careful if cycling this road. Narrow in most places. New 30kph rules well signposted with LCD display showing drivers their ACTUAL speed. (I saw one 60kph+). Roll on the deferred introduction of cycle lanes. The beach and views are always excellent. Enjoy.

I expected to find some water in the beach! But when I came it was almost 5 KM near that island πŸ˜‚ It was hilarious 🏝️🀣 coming to a beach without water I came after 9 days and walked to the water. Nice place, with no crowds 😁

There's a couple of car parks along the strand so if one is full then pop down to the next one. Dublin has plenty of coastline but none give you the feeling of immersion like when you walk out barefoot along the strand at low tide. One of the finest Dublin experiences.

If you want to see coast line of part of #Dublin . From city to Dun Laoghaire. A part of Dublin once known as Kingstown. Was a major part of Dublin port from foot passengers to Mail.

I just love stepping onto this patch of land beside the sea, hidden from the train tracks and roadside, winter or summer, it’s like your own private beach for strolling or sitting at. Mind the tides. Enjoy the views.

Merrion Strand is a long stretch of sand from Irishtown to Blackrock. The tide comes & goes twice in one day & when it is out it goes so far its a long walk to get your feet wet. It isn't advised to stay too long out as the incoming tide could cut you off . Unfortunately swimming isn't advised due to the proximity of a sewage treatment plant. However there is a very good level tarmac path almost the whole length bordered with grass & shrubs & plenty of seats. There are at least 3 parking areas where there are spaces for disabled parking provided you have a blue badge.
