This statue stands in tribute to Thomas Davis, an Irish writer and nationalist who one of the leaders of the Young Ireland movement. The monument to Thomas Davis has a bronze statue of him atop a plinth and a fountain in front of it. The statue looks like an expressionless alien such is the lack of likeness to the man. The fountain depicts the Heralds of the Four Provinces referencing one of Davis's poems A Nation Again. The Heralds are enclosed within a small circular fountain, The borders of the fountain has relief sculptures of scenes from the Great Famine. The statue is in a prominent location opposite Trinity College London, but is easy to miss because it's in the middle of a busy intersection, partially obscured by trees.

Designed by Edward Delaney and known locally as the ‘peeing angels’, the fountain in memory of Thomas Davis depicts trumpeting Heralds of the Four Provinces proclaiming one of Davis’s best-known poems A Nation Again. The surrounding tablets illustrate harrowing scenes from the Great Famine of the 1840s.

(Translated by Google) In front of the Thomas Davis statue there is a fountain with three statues. The day I went there, I don't know why, foam was forming in the water. Very strange. Otherwise the statue is not very funny.

Prime location for this statue and fountain. Thé neighbours are thé Bank of Ireland and Trinity College. Unfortunately you are surrounded by constant heavy traffic and you cannot get any rest since there are no benches and too much noice.

Nice monument and fountain. Too bad it's not placed on a larger square or park. At least there should be some benches around.
