The Ginger Man

Pub Irish pub

👍👍 Gingerman is an iconic lil' pub. If you're looking to have the childlike feeling of awe for the colors of Christmas, it's the place for you. The lights are incredible. The pints are lovely, kind staff and a cute space. Had a veggie falafel burger which was 5 stars. The only drawback is how busy it... People often mention great, staff, good, Great, Dublin, Christmas, Guinness, service, pint, nice,

I love this pub, really! but the quality I guess went down. We ordered a couple of dishes and chips, everything was with no taste or super spicy and overcooked ( i would say burnt) . The beers were ok but we didnt drink too much. Probably is still good for meet ups or take a pint together but for sure not for dinner. In the evening i had a bit stomachache.

I really liked the vibe here. The staff was warm and welcoming. The place is full of funny advertisement quotes. Great onion rings, wedges and Fries. Also drinks options are great.

You have to start with the absolutely mindblowing Christmas lights and decorations, the likes of which you have never seen! Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff too.

Nice place to grab a beer, enjoy your evening and have some fun with your friends. Its a little bit loud, but I think thats the flair of the pub. The dishes were also ok. Burger and traditional fish and chips.

Great pub just off the beaten track in Dublin city centre. Known for its amazing Christmas lights that are up all year round. Good food at very reasonable prices along with a great pint and friendly service. A great place to meet a few friends for a night out.

My husband and I had the best experience here. We met Brian, the bartender, who was very welcoming to us and recommended places to visit. He's a very kind and funny man that recommended a book to us, "Last Words" and made us our first Tricolour flag shot! 10/10 would recommend this place. Also Brian if you're reading this we wanted to thank you for your kindness to us. Ahéheé (Thank you in Navajo)

Great atmosphere. Really great service. There is a bit of waiting time before you get seated. But they take really good care of you even while waiting.

We went for dinner and the place was very crowded. After walking around for awhile we found a small table. We had to wait about 20 minutes before a server finally acknowledged us. Not a good start, but the rest was great! The drinks were delicious and the food was good. If you can get a seat do it, if not maybe move on and get served quicker somewhere else.

Wonderful pub with truly excellent food and great service. Seating upstairs in addition to the main floor. Definitely recommend if you're in the area and hungry. Menu is small but has all the mainstays of pub food we've all come to count on.

Amazing staff. Pretty sure it is the owner usually behind the bar...whomever it is, they run a tight, busy, ship. Food was great, but also a fine spot just for a drink and some classic rock/pop tunes on the speakers. Usually busy but not too too crowded.

A pub with a lovely vibe and delicious food. Service staff was excellent. They were friendly, quick and didn’t fail us to find a place to sit to enjoy dinner even if the place was fully packed on a Friday evening. Food was fresh, delicious and was of good portions.

One of the nicest pubs in Dublin. It’s a rather small place but very iconic and always a go-to-pub as soon as I visit Dublin. The staff is super friendly and it’s also within walking distance to to venues such as Trinity College, Stephens Green and Grafton Street. Highly recommended

I don't think I've ever been in a more decorated pub in my life. Very cool vibe. They decorate 3 times a year St Patrick's, Halloween and Christmas! Even when it's not decorated, worth the visit for some nice whiskey or a Guinness

Charming Dublin bar. A good selection of craft beers on tap and the food menu has plenty of choice. I would normally drop in to the Ginger Man before a football match in Landsdowne Road as it’s only a short fifteen minute walk to the famous stadium. Worth a visit and a beer🍺

Surprised on two fronts Guinness in the top three places to drink in Dublin. The bar food would be hard to match. Food prices are very low for the quality.

Nice, friendly bar, professionally run, well worth a visit. We went there after a terrible experience in Kennedy's Bar nearby - their surly, obnoxious young bar manager, a Dubliner, should not be running a bar or dealing with the public. Appalling. The Ginger Man was a breath of fresh air by comparison, a properly managed, well-run bar.

  • 3/5 Brian F. 1 year ago on Google
Food was fine, not super flavorful. Salt and pepper needed. Server was lackluster, took 20-30 minutes after seating for order to be taken.

Great local bar that's always packed. Located next to our hotel while we were staying in Dublin. They can pour a good pint.

  • 4/5 Nigel O. 1 year ago on Google
Food was great, area we had was a bit small for the 8 of us, the main issue was the service, we had to ask them for menu's and for them to come down to take our order. Other than that they were very friendly, got the order correct. It could have been they were short staffed and it didn't ruin the night in anyway. All in all great food and great value. I will come back again.

Come for the excellent service, stay for the tasty pub food. Seriously, the staff here was above & beyond kind & attentive even when it was crazy busy. Came in on a Friday night & it was packed, not expecting a table, & the doorman found us a spot to sit & grab a pint while he found us a table better suited to eating. It is close to a college, so expect a lot of college students, but we saw people of all ages enjoying themselves! Felt everyone was welcomed.

Desperate to see Christmas lights on Ginger man was always thing but never got chance to go until this time..even though it was packed, no seat to enjoy food but worth having a pint or two to see the lights all over the pub.

Great pint of guinness, the curry is one of best around (chips and rice 😊). At Christmas this spot is just next level and my favourite bar to visit in dublin. 5 min walk from pearse dart Station.

Great place round the corner from our hotel food was delicious and warm the staff were very good humoured and price was reasonably cheap for what we had I also recommend you try and book a table as seating is at a premium I would highly recommend this little pub/restaurant

First time to Dublin and wanted do experience a traditional Irish pub. You won't be disappointed here, decent pricing on the drinks and menu, the hospitality and staff are amazing and the food was for me out of this world, Guinness and steak pie, washed down with a pint of Guinness. The atmosphere was great and the buzz in their was just what I needed on my trip. Will be visiting again on my next trip to Dublin!

Lovely food with friendly staff. Great location. Good service and the food seems to arrive quite swiftly so you're not waiting around for ages after you have ordered as happen in other city centre pubs. The curry is my favourite thing on the menu, really filling.

Fantastic,, Christmas decorations over the top. Despite being extremely busy, the staff was remarkable in keeping the queue organized, serving drinks and the food as quickly as they could. All our food was hot and delicious. So glad we came. This restaurant is a gem!

  • 2/5 Patrick F. 4 years ago on Google
The staff is not very attentive, it's a general problem in Irish eateries I noticed, I do not understand why. Choice of food is quite small, that isn't necessarily a bad thing, could mean they actually cook fresh, which is great. The dish I had was really nice, so the two stars are mainly for the staff and location. You sit really tight and the lightning was very dark too. We had lunch there, so the whole ambient didn't suit.

It has become an annual tradition to end up at the Ginger Man the week before Christmas, to meet up with old friends returning home. It is right up there as one of the best and most festive pubs in Dublin, a definite must-visit! The decor is breathtaking but what maketh the pub is the staff. All the staff are amazing, so helpful and efficient. Special mention to be made to the door staff though. Coming out of a very busy pub on a very busy night to get a taxi home can’t be daunting for anyone but the door staff at the Ginger Man have hailed taxis for me every time I’ve been and have waited with me until I was safely in. As a woman in this day and age, that means the world to me. That’s more than their job, that’s the caliber of staff there. It may be slightly off the beaten track, but this pub is 100% worth visiting.
