Bar Irish pub

👍👍 Cozy, vibrant atmosphere. Good service. A bit on the pricey side for a pint of Smithwick’s (€6.60), but not too bad considering the area of town. Overall, worth it. 👍🏼 People often mention staff, Great, great, friendly, Guinness, pints, service, good, Dublin, kids,

Lovely staff, great food and excellent pints of Guiness! The drinks were a little expensive but that's to be expected given the location. Food was very tasty, and reasonably priced as they were nice big portions, loved the Limerick ham with Parsley sauce.

No menu for the drinks, they are professional whisky bar, if you want a whisky experiences, ask for whisky flights. The staff will tell you, "we have 61 whiskies, the price varies from 6 euros to 80 euros, what price range you want me to recommend?" & you tell him your preference. It might be a very fun "create your own whisky experience". Next time, I will ask for " 6 euros, 16 euros & 26 euros" to see if I can taste the difference. It's a Sunday night, as a tourist from San Francisco, we actually don't know Irish people don't stayed up late on Sunday night. What a diligent amazing country, work hard & play hard but also have principal. So we were recommended by other bar, they said on Sunday night only the Bankers offer food late in Temple Bar District. Even though I don't understand whisky, I have a very fun whisky experience. & interesting, all the Guinness beers taste so different in all the bars. But they all taste better compares to drink them in US. Cheers!

Ran in to The Bankers to take shelter from the rain and I'm so glad we did. Traditional, cosy atmosphere and great decor. Everything in there tells a story. We were looked after very well by Jack, lovely lad, polite and friendly. Nice menu, reasonably priced and food was delicious. Couldn't have a pint as I was driving but I definitely will next time. Very enjoyable lunch.

An awesome place to be. Amazing food and beer, great staff, good for meeting cool people and in general a really nice location right in the heart of Dublin. Had my first Guinness in Ireland there and it couldn't have been a better place. Also the seafood chowder was the best fish soup wish delicious selfmade bread I ever had. Thank you! :)

Great spot, full of character, careful attention paid to ambience, customer comfort and cleanliness and the drink preparation was first class. Perfect hot whiskey, Guinness and tea for the three of us. The staff where extremely friendly, jovial and welcoming and the banter between staff and the regulars and the regulars themselves was lovely to be a part of. If you enjoy cosy, traditional pubs and a bit of craic, this is the place for you!

Very bad experience with the manager of the place. Very rude to the customers, making you feel like you are not welcomed. We were a big group and he wasn’t trying to accommodate us for a big table outside. He definitely ruined our good mood and overall atmosphere. It’s too bad that the place encourages such a mindset and people with no skills in managerial positions in this industry.

my experience in this place Well won't be giing near the place at all...Read the sign on the doors going in and it never mentioned anything about kids not being allowed in... got to the counter to order and barman seen my 2 kids ,,no manners at all and saying no kids allowed no kids allowed.... so I asked could I sit outside with them in the seated area so the kids could have a lemonade....because it was warm out and again no no no kids allowed... if he had a bit off manners on him then I wouldn't be writing this review.... simple manners example....listen I'm sorry but we can't serve kids because it's after 5pm or something along that line....

Came here a couple of times over my short trip! The Guinness is soooo good. The food looked and smelled incredible. Will definitely try the food if we're back again. Slight issue with the bill as an extra 2 drinks added to the tab. They offered to refund but I was going to leave a tip anyways so no bother. Friendly staff and table service for drinks too.

On a staycation in the capital me and my wife and kids went in for lunch, we were the only ones there at this time (12:30) and met with the usual tourist welcome. The barman was full of the charm and had great time for us when ordering food but his attitude quickly changed as the pub got a little busier. My kids wanted to swapped seats after their lunch and as soon as he seen them move he got thick and said if they move again we would all have to leave. It is trying times for us all but I thought this behavior was very over the top. The food was fine apart from no kids menu available.

Went in with a mate at about 2pm when the pub was not very busy and asked for 2 pints and a ham and cheese toasty. Barman started pouring the pints and another barman said he would drop the pints down and that the toasty would follow. Pleasant start, but it was all downhill from there. After about 7/8 minutes, I had to ask the barman where our pints were. He then proceeded to start pouring two more pints so we were forced to wait even longer. To make matters worse, barman came down and charged me over €20. I questioned the cost and was met with a look of disdain. I was on my lunch, and was very hungry so reluctantly paid. When it arrived, the ‘toasty’ was burned, and it was smothered in relish which tasted strongly of vinegar. This was accompanied by a handful of leaves presumably to justify the price. The final straw was when a chap came up from the kitchen downstairs with soaking wet bin bags and dragged them all the way through the pub and knocked into both mine and my friend’s jackets, not once but twice. Absolutely disgusting experience. Guinness was average.

Food and Guinness was great. Unfortunately that was it for the pleasantries. When we entered the pub the barman came to us and asked "table for 2?" and if we were eating (We weren't aware of the new €9 meal law as we were visiting from the north for the day). When we then got our pints and explained that we weren't actually going to eat the barman got extremely aggressive and rude with us, demanding that we ordered food. I'll take responsibility for the ignorance of not checking the policies but I can't excuse the horrendous "service" that we received. To twist the knife even more when another group came in, the extremely polite waitress (wish we got her) explained to her customers that they are required by law to order a meal costing at least €9. If this was explained to us it would have turned this 2* review into potentially a 5* review. #wontbeback [[edit here because I can't reply to your reply.: You have completely missed the point of the bad review. The point of the review is that the service we recieved was atrocious and honestly just made us feel so awkward. If the barman had explained to us in a calm and collective way what the deal was then we wouldn't be so miffed. Like I said we had traveled down from the North (as in Northern Ireland, a place where the same rules don't apply as the south) and that's why we were so confused when you started having a go at us. I also stated in the review that I accept responsibility for the ignorance on our part. You clearly can't accept responsibility for the ignorance on your end.]]

We were looling for a place to eat that would satisfy all 3 people's different reuirements. Came across Bankers Bar on the off-chance. I hadn't seen any reviews but on reading them afterwards I totally agree. Great staff, service and excellent food. Was 'the best steak I've had in a long while' - father-in-law.

We had a great lunch stop here. I wasn’t expecting much because I had no prior info or experience and there are so many pubs to choose from, but the lamb stew and brown bread was one of the best meals we had on our trip, so wholesome and fresh tasting. And the service was friendly and efficient. Definitely would go back.

Cozy pub with a lot of charm, there is plenty of space inside and outside. The facade is great decorated. The bar is very well stocked and you also get alternatives to the usual Guinnes.

Great food, great beer and an amazing staff but definitely make sure you sample the whiskey selection. One of the best things about this bar is that it’s a stones throw from the heavily touristed Temple Bar but you won’t experience the crowds or the prices.

Proper, professionally run, friendly bar. Great pints, service by engaged by cheerful staff, very clean, dry toilets at midnight, says it all. Visiting Dublin, call in here, it's off Trinity's Street on Dame Lane, not the one on Dame Street. 👍👍👍👍😊😊

The Bankers Bar was an excellent choice for lunch. We both ordered the Beef and Guinness Pie with a flakey pastry crust and Brown Bread. It was excellent. We also ordered an Irish Coffee and a Cider. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly. The serving size was large, and prices were reasonable.

We traveled from Canada to Dublin and were recommended this place by our cab driver. It did not disappoint! The Guinness bread had a great texture and flavour which accompanied the Beef & Guinness Pie amazingly. The Irish Smoked Salmond was also very good, as was the fish and chips which was just a bit greasy. Overall a great place to eat if you’re in Dublin!

Food was okay. I ordered the smoked salmon which was the same salmon you get when you order lox & bagels. Atmosphere was cool though.

Great food and drink. My friend got the Guinness and beef pie and I got the bangers and mash. You will not go wrong with either of those. Dan the bartender will help you with anything you want to know about Guinness and whiskey.

I was very badly treated by the head barman on Friday the 11th of December. I tried to book a table at 17.30 for 19.30 and I was told that they didn’t take bookings only walk ins. I arrived back at 19h and I was told there would be a half hour delay he didn’t want to take my name so I waited outside for half an hour and went back in and he said he didn’t know when there would be a table and I asked him would he be calling me when there was a table ready. He said that he would not be calling anybody. The rules during covid are that you have 90 minutes to eat and as far as I could see anybody that was in there were there for the night drinking. Their meal having been finished and not going to move until closing. Nellie Dublin
