The ambiance of the pub was delightful, setting a welcoming tone. On the culinary front, the food fell short of my hopes, lacking in taste and presentation compared to the inviting atmosphere.

Visited this delightful little venue after work the other day for a couple of quite drinks. The place is welcoming and nicely decorated so we sat in the snug for a chat. Its cosy and the staff were very nice. Unfortunately there are some downsides too. They had very little wine glasses and every one of them were dirty. I had 4 drinks there and didn't get a clean glass once, and they was even lipstick on my second wine glass, YUK. When they ran out of wine glasses we got wine in various other glasses, which wasn't great. The bathroom was also filthy, with water (I Hope) all over the floor, cracked cisterns and dirty toilet paper. I will give it a second visit and hopefully some of these problems will have been a one-off. Lets hope so.

Irish pub the way it should be: very stylish interior, atmospheric place, great cuisine & Irish whiskeys. Definitely our best recommendations!

If you get the chance to frequent McGrattans, don’t. There are pubs who have adapted to the new restrictions, Devitts and The Bleeding Horse to name a few, but McGrattans is not one of them. Upon being seated it took 20 minutes to order a drink, we asked for menus three times and didn’t receive them. 45 minutes after being seated we were informed by our “waitress” (to call her a waitress would do a disservice to the fantastic servers we have in this country) in a rather snappy tone that in order to stay we would have to order food. I reminded her that we asked for menus three times. Eventually one hour into our sitting she takes our order and convolutes the entire order by informing us that our first drink was included with our food. She proceeded to advise us incorrectly of the number of drinks we had ordered. When the food eventually arrived. Nearly 2 hours after we were seated. We were greeted with a sad platter that mostly consisted of some chips that sat under a hot lamp for too long. Further into the night, evident how irate I am, the waitress proceeds to taunt me, by sticking cocktail sticks and drawing love hearts on my napkin. Further beating a dead horse she begins whispering into my friends ears, asking for my name and try’s to taunt me in front of my peers. I was irate to the point I had to end my night early all due to the complacency and ignorance of your staff. This behavior is unacceptable on a public playground, let alone a public house. Train your staff properly. Prior to the pandemic I visited McGrattans frequently. I would not return.

Found this pub when I was too early for FX Buckley. And a happy little find it was. A couple of good not too expensive pints. The rugby was on and there were tables available. Never tried the food, but think I will be back to try. A quirky interior and table service. Nice find

Before booking a table we asked if there's any limit for time spent. We've been told that there's no limit. After two hours supervisor Conor told us that we have to leave a place (as far as we know they had different reservation). Meanwhile other people who were sitting outside weren't asked to leave, even if they were here before us. Waitresses were nice but weren't wearing any PPE. Supervisor while talking to us was rude and it looked like he didn't care about customer's satisfaction. It was first and last time here for us.

Reviewing based on a single experience during a busy match day watching the rugby. The pub is nicely decorated and conveniently located. The floor staff that served our table were friendly and the service was prompt. What I didn't like: -The barman charged me for a drink before checking it was in stock, and then instead of telling me it wasn't in stock or offering a refund, he simply served me 1 out of my 2 drinks ordered and then started serving other customers. It wasn't until I grabbed his attention and asked him "hey, where is that other drink?" that he rolled his eyes and said "that's out of stock. What do you want instead?" No refund offered. -There is a man in the men's toilets who offers cologne/hand towels to people as they're freshening up, and he is playing music in the toilets. There is also a social expectation that you should tip this man. Personally, I prefer the toilets to just be toilets, not somewhere to stop for a chat - that's what the pub is for. -The Guinness there was horrible. Probably the worst pint I had since the pandemic. Maybe it was only a phenomenon of match day, as I noticed that they were pouring a bunch of Guinness at the bar and leaving it sitting there. Seems like they were then selling this on rather than serving fresh pints. -It's overpriced compared to other pubs in Dublin.

The pub is a great experience on the weekends, whereas it is empty during the weekdays. Plenty of Alcohol options available. Variety of food is very limited though. Ambience is beyond compare. You can easily get a table for 7-8 people but with prior bookings I suppose during Covid times.

(Translated by Google) Excellent pub where you can enjoy beer and eat abundant local meat dishes. The place is a great pub with a lot of history and clean. (Original) Ottimo pub dove poter gustare la birra e mangiare pietanze locali abbondanti a base di carne. Il locale è un ottimo pub con tanto di storia e pulito.

Last Saturday at pride - while I note it was a busy day, myself and my friend were sitting in the snug area in front of the front door. We asked a waitress/food server 4 times to come around to us to take our food order. Every time she was rude and just asked "where are you sitting". We told her where we were but she never showed up (not within the 3.5 hours we remained sitting there). Next came a bar man into the snug. He proceeded to remove empty glasses from the tables and dropped them through a window portal to the bar. I kindly asked him if he would sent a food server to us and he said "best of luck with that". Ridiculous!!!

No effort to socially distance tables or take food orders. Like any other pub pre COVID.

I can't rate this place highly enough. We reserved a table for 6.30 and stayed till 10.30. The girl that served us several times during the night was amazing and a lovely person, excellent ambassador for the pub. ( Thanks for everything) The rest of the staff were excellent and friendly. As we enjoyed our visit we ordered sine food and were delighted with it the quality and price. The atmosphere was great. A very important issue is toilets, they were very clean all night. I look forward to my return and would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a great safe night out.

McGrattans is a hidden gem without any tourists. A young college unpretentious crowd and pleasant atmosphere. Good Guinness and a few whiskies, two pool tables.

Usually it is good, as only going there for a quick lunch, burgers are very good. But most recent experience was a bit disappointing, food was a bit cold and service really slow. But more times all was perfect.

Been coming here for 7+ years now. McGrattans is reliably wonderful. The staff make it so! Always a lovely place experience which leaves a smile on my face, McGrattans is off the beaten path (hidden down an alley) but a true diamond in the rough. So much room to enjoy your bevvy, two bars, fireplaces, smoking areas, etc. Everything you could ask for in a pub. Really solid 5/5 experience, any time of day. Obviously; very highly recommended.

It was ok. It was very crowded, the beer garden is a parking spot, nothing fancy. The queue to have a drink was massive, only two people serving. Considering the weather lots of places had an overload of people coming, so it is understandable, the food looks nice.

Was able to book for 8 ppl online. They gave us the big snug at the door which was great for s private group and a hatch to the bar. Bar man was a little gruff but flour staff really lovely and the platter food was good. Nice atmosphere there too

Great place to meet up with friends for a night out or to watch rugby matches. The pint of Guinness is one of the best in the city. They also do really good food.. I had the fish & chips and it was perfectly cooked and delicious.

A traditional pub with potential. Great old traditional atmosphere but the menu needs updating(except the chicken wings, amazing). Bathrooms are disgusting, simple fix, maintain the bathroom. Love the place, would like to see it transform back to its original glory.

Arrived at 6pm into a quiet bar for one drink. While my husband was getting the drinks an off duty barman took it upon himself to be obnoxiously rude to me about having a baby there. (Babies are entitled to be there until 7pm) We left without finishing our drinks.

Guinness was good but service wasn't. They were very busy (day of the Dublin Marathon) but when I asked about an old whiskey behind the bar the response from the barman was rude and unhelpful. Had a Caesar chicken wrap which wasn't good and it took over half an hour for me to pay for it after I'd finished.

Obviously packed due to prime location and the pent up demand for after run drinks after DCM 2022, but more staff in bar to speed up service would have been nicer, but great bar all the same and atmosphere after the marathon was electric

A fantastic pub with a fantastic atmosphere. Barstaff generally excellent but unfortunately some of the newer younger staff can be incredibly rude at times. Exception rather then the norm but worth mentioning hence the 4 star review. Still recommended.

Don’t be shy if you see loads of celebrities and politicians there. The place is full of them. We always have a great time at McGrattans and the last time I was there was after the gay pride. We had a ball. Drinks are very nice as well as the food and the place is very cosy. It is quite hidden from the all the great pubs in Baggot Street but it is never empty. Everyone knows where it is. Go there, you’re not gonna regret.

Me and my friend waited for 1h before we left. No one, at any moment talked with us or bring a menu. We were completely ignored by the staff. The only beer we drunk, my friend had to go to the bar and ask. Connor, the rudest staff I ever seen - when asked if he could serve us/bring a menu - first said we weren't there for an our yet and blamed the girl staff saying we were complaining about her being slow, even though we barely saw her outside. He served everyone that arrived after us. When we decided to leave another staff asked if everything was ok, this is when Connor showed up again saying he was "doing us a favor" letting us get in the bar, cause we didn't have a "reservation" so it was a "favor" and we should leave then. What is the point to let people get in the bar without a reservation then? When clearly people that arrived after us didn't have a reservation either... The place seems nice, but i wouldn't recommend to anyone
