Visited
this
today
with
my
mother.
I
hadn't
been
there
since
I
was
a
little
girl,
and
Mam
brought
my
niece
there
when
she
was
a
tot.
We
were
delighted
to
see
it
had
retained
its
charm
and
the
original
moving
figures
were
still
working.
The
faces
on
the
people
and
animals
are
beautiful
with
great
expressions.
Also
very
moving
is
the
preserved
body
of
Fred,
a
dog
who
lived
in
the
Priory
and
jumped
into
the
river
three
times
to
save
people
from
drowning.
Great
new
ideas
to
amuse
kids
too:
colouring
books,
life-size
cardboard
cut-outs
with
missing
faces
(for
posing
for
selfies)
and
bubblewrap
panels
with
a
notice
inviting
kids
to
burst
them
(all
the
bubblewrap
had
been
burst
when
we
we
there
around
lunchtime;
we
reckoned
the
friars
had
a
busy
morning
replacing
it).
There's
also
a
gift
shop
selling
beautiful
religious
gifts,
and
an
exhibition
of
genuine
Crolly
and
Pedigree
dolls,
and
the
young
people
working
in
the
shop
and
guiding
visitors
to
the
crib
were
very
knowledgeable.
We
ended
our
visit
with
a
few
prayers
to
St
Martin
in
the
beautiful
little
chapel.
The
St
Martin
Apostolate,
where
the
crib,
Chapel
and
shop
are
based,
is
very
conveniently
located
right
across
from
the
Rotunda
Hospital,
two
doors
up
from
the
Kevin
Barry
centre
-
and
the
Number
155
bus
(Bray
-
Ballymun)
stops
right
outside.
