Reading the other reviews, the rooms must really varied in size and quality. The queen room I booked was very large with a newly somewhat recently renovated bathroom. Location and staff were great. I would suggest earplug if you try to sleep before 2am.

Great location. Staff are lovely. Room was a bit small and too warm but comfortable none the less. Fabulous bar on the first floor which I highly recommend even if you're not staying in the hotel.

Terrible experience, very noisy room (number 228) with poor windows that let enter not just the noise but also the cold. The toilet flush worked poorly, you had to press it several time to make it work, and the shower sink was mostly stuck, so it was filling up with water during the shower. Only shampoo and no body gel, the hairdryer didn't work... But mostly the noise, coming from the bathroom window. People working there were nice though, so nothing to complain about the service. Not worth the price and not recommended.

Stayed here a while back and although it is in a relatively good area to stay and walk around, this hotel room was really quite tiny and needed some serious upgrades. The hallway floors squeaked all the way to my room at the end so basically everyone staying in those rooms we walked by could hear our every step because the squeaking was very loud. Hotel could use renovations and better cleaning as the carpet looks super old. O yeah and there is no a/c in this hotel either.

I stayed there with my kids in a family room. Reasonably priced with a nice breakfast included. Rooms were really comfortable. The bar is really warm and there was a nice safe atmosphere in the premises throughout. Reception people were lovely and the lack of modern decor is great. We will return.

I booked this room for the first part of my stay in Dublin. It was a rather small room, but I had a twin bed, so I wasn’t expecting it to be any larger. Nothing in my stay was dirty, and everyone I encountered was friendly. The breakfast was either 5 euro for a continental or 10 euro for hot. The room didn’t have a refrigerator, but it had a nice desk and a clean, working restroom. The noise from the club across the street kept me up at night until 3am, but that wasn’t the hotel’s fault. The bed was comfortable, as were the two pillows I had. Some reviews mentioned the hotel being dated, but I considered it unique and memorable. I enjoyed the classic feel of the hotel. No there wasn’t air conditioning, but most budget hotels and even private residential houses don’t have A/C, so it wasn’t really a big deal to me. The Central Hotel was in a perfect location for a reasonable price.

Nice vibe, friendly and efficient staff, punters are good mix of age groups. Brilliant location for meeting up with friends. Library bar is lovely but could be made bigger as always full; alternatively, more proper seating could be supplied outside in foyer of restaurant. Bit shabby and some of the seating needs replacing, but overall comfortable and close to everywhere.

Stayed here three times and it's quite good. The second time I stayed I had an issue with the shower nozzle (was jammed on hot) but other two times were fine. All three of my rooms I've stayed in have not had light fixtures in the bedroom, so mostly had to rely on the lamps. Other than that it's a nice, quirky old hotel in a great location!

Can't speak to lodgings, because I never stayed the night, but I'm part of a group that has rented meeting rooms here for the last three years, and it's been excellent. Staff is always friendly, set up and clean up chairs and tables for us, provide drinking water, etc. I was also very impressed with the hotel decor. If I get the chance, I'd definitely like to stay the night sometime.
