Excellent food, nice interior but the service is appalling. We had to wait to get our (reserved!) table, wait to order our meals, wait to order our coffee, wait to pay and then wait to for the change, and this in a half empty restaurant. Instead of enjoying there food and the setting we spent our time trying to catch the attention of the staff who appeared to be completely disorganized. What a shame.

Unfortunately the food while fine was overshadowed by the extremely poor service. The waitress who I felt sorry for being understaffed was also disinterested and left us 10 mins at the door awaiting to be seated. We were then 30 mins seated before we managed to get a cup of tea to the table. We had ordered soup and kid’s sandwiches and this took 38 mins from time of ordering until we were served. I know because when I said we are waiting a while the manager came back with the docket and told me the time of the order. the biscuit sent to the table after the first 30 mins wait didn’t appease the kids for such a long wait. I understand covid can mean staffing issues and I did state that it would have been better to tell us on arrival. We spent a full hour from arrival to getting soup served in what is meant to be a cafe for a quick easy bite. Other tables all having the same problem. Completely disaster. Food was fine although the corner slice of brown bread given with the soup seemed mean. Hopefully this cafe can pull itself out of the hole it is in and become a great museum cafe again.

What a hidden treasure ! We didn’t have time to explore the gardens. Great proximity to NCH as an alternative for lunch. As a coeliac I was well looked after which is an added bonus. Delicious. Lovely staff and reasonable prices. Thank you Fernanda.

Had brunch on Saturday toasted terrine sourdough cheese and chicken sandwiches. Mine was ok , very scant onion , found I piece ! My friend had chicken and cheese , huge slices of cheese on both sides of bread , way too much .. salad was mainly leaves , horrible orange dressing, out of a bottle ??? Plain vinaigrette or none would have been much nicer. Staff were excellent, coffee very good .

Consistently good, and a great hideaway from the madding crowds of Grafton Street etc.

Great service, lovely location and decor but it's a pricey enough, €7.20 for a coffee and a cookie. Nice for a treat

Food was nice but service is very poor. Very long wait times to be shown to a table and to order. Loads of staff and wasn't too busy either so not sure why it's so poor. At one point one staff member was just endlessly filling water bottles instead of seeing to customers. Very odd. We had to ask someone eventually to take our order, and they were rude about us having to prompt them. I wouldn't recommend. Small note but paying for the soup with the sandwich and they no longer give the side salad as well. Not sure why. It's not specified you no longer get the salad.

Lovely atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating (weather dependent). Portion is not that big but the food is yummy. Not a lot of vegetarian options but there are. Staff are really friendly and accommodating. Wheelchair accessible within the restaurant but the lift for the wheelchair at the entrance (and the museum entrance) often malfunction. However there is another entrance for wheelchair (and pram), you just need to walk up the stairs (or get someone else to walk up the stairs for you) to the museum reception and ask the staff there and they can let you in the other way.

Dublin's little secret. Away from the crowds, quiet place to relax and have coffee.

Excellent food, very fresh and a nice clean interior but the service was appalling. First waiter was so disorganised it felt like she forgot about us after our first order and second waiter, who we had to grab the attention of, was very passive aggressive. Waiting 40 minutes for dessert is ridiculous. If you have 2 hours to kill and the patience of a saint then I recommend, otherwise not.

A beautiful venue and lovely food, when it arrives, but what a shame about the service. Twenty minutes after ordering tea and a scone, no sign of either. When I approached the gentleman who took my order, he said "I thought you had left" I did leave there and then. This is not the first time this has happened but it will be the last time. Others were also complaining about very slow service, wrong bill etc. The management really need to address this issue or they wont have a business for much longer. The young waitresses seemed very pleasant but not very experienced. Covid has affected all businesses but with the prices being charged in cafes now, people expect a good service.

We held our monthly book club dinner in the Commons Cafe last week and were really impressed. Lovely room, great food, service was very friendly and relaxed. It was also excellent value. Highly recommended !

Echo a previous reviewer on how slow the service is. Sat down, waited 10 minutes and groups who came in after me were served. Finally went up to counter and just asked for a a damn coffee already. Beautiful looking cafe, appalling service. Edit: in response to the reply. This visit was in the first week of December. No signs on tables.

Toasties for days, excellent coffee, barista was totally on the ball and staff generally kind and helpful. Would definitely recommend for a lunch time stop, or a cheeky evening glass of wine

👍👍 After looking everywhere for lactose free milk, finally found it here in the food hall. Beautiful design, sort of art nouveau, with iron casted architecture, diverse shops and cosy interiors. Really recommend also for tourists who need to shop forgotten items.
