We were recommended Maghera Beach (pronounce: ma-gra) by a local, who said it was a fairly unknown beach. We drove to the beach and on the way we saw a beautiful waterfall as a bonus! At the parking spot you pay 3โ‚ฌ for parking (which is fair). You can then walk to the beach along never-ending sand dunes. It is an absolutely wonderful walk. The beach itself is very broad with perhaps a kilometre coastline. The beach is surrounded by green wee mountains which add to the beauty. The waves are quite tall, even on a quiet summer day, so it is not for the youngest kids, but very fun for grown up kids. ;-) This beach was one of the best things on our trip around Ireland. It was so quite, almost no people there even though it was 26 degrees, which Ireland doesn't always get.

Lovely wild beach! Car parking is managed by the farmer who charge you โ‚ฌ5 for a day. ( I think it is only during summer days). From there you have to walk a little bit to get down to the beach โ›ฑ๏ธ

This is a very special place, was always a secret never to be told. Though landowners have allowed over many decades for this small paradise to be accessible to the public, unfortunately it's not for everybody - as it has become more famous, it's still not for those looking for burger vans and public toilets. This is a real natural 'wild' beach, it is not a serviced beach - there's plenty of other beaches all along the east coast for that. Enjoy and respect it's beauty ๐Ÿ’•

A hidden gem near Wicklow and an excellent substitute for Brittas Beach. There's a parking for 5 euro/day and be prepared that it's a good 10 minutes walk from the carpark to the beach. It can also be challenging to access the beach with prams or wheelchair. There are no public toilet facilities.

I love this beach, I love the walk, I love it sometimes has surf, I love that Iโ€™ve grown up going here. I want to be able to bring my future kids here to learn to surf and appreciate the sea!! Please sign the petition to stop a hotel being plonked here and taking away a magic spot that should be public and protected. There are enough things being commercialised without taking one of our best east coast beaches. Boycott press-up :(

Great beach, really shallow so safe enough to be in the water. Unfortunately no lifeguard though. Be prepared for a few min walk from the car park which is โ‚ฌ5 a day.

Wow! Amazing beach. Sand is fantastic, fine quality. No official car park but on busy days there is a land on which you can park for โ‚ฌ5 (contactless accepted), hundreds of cars fit. It's a 5 minutes walk from cars to beach if you are fit (otherwise 10). If you bring your cast iron BBQ (which some did) then you'll sweat a little getting it down to the beach from the car park (let alone bringing it back up). Absolutely no facilities anywhere near, no toilet, no bin, nothing on the beach. There are two mobile toilets on top of the cliff but I didn't dare to check it out as it was smelling pretty dangerous from 40 metres already. Mobile signal very poor, you might catch some of it if you walk into the sea a little but nothing at all if you are close to the cliffs.

Very beautiful sandy beach, a lot of fun for kids! The only downside is that we didn't see any toilets there. I think they were supposed to be there, yet we didn't find them. Parking is 5 euro for the whole day

Love this Beach. I think itโ€™s the most beautiful of Wicklow Beaches, in terms of golden sand, but also rocks and plants. I love spending Time here, watching the tides for hours, coming and going, uncovering land and hidden coves.

Amazing beach. Not as "touristy" as silver strand and bonus points for dogs being allowed. My little chap had an amazing few hours on the beach and made loads of little doggy friends. We'll be back. โ‚ฌ5 to park in farmers field about 10min walk away but even the walk was beautiful along a shaded little roadway.

Beautiful beach. Such a shame it has been sold and public access will probably be taken away

Great beach, make sure you use the car park! Avoid using the road. Bit of a walk to the beach but well worth it. Be prepared for a steep climb down and then back up. Toilets are provided at the car park and beach entrance. Seemed to be attended to on the day we visited.
