Beautiful place to spend some time. You can feel the history of the place. lots of interesting islands to explore and excellent trout fishing at certain times of the year.

We had a fantastic day. Brought a picnic. There was a bbq area, a marina, a playground for the kids and the lake. Great day out for the whole family during the good weather. I was so surprised at how much there was to do. Public facilities were kept in great condition. There were people out an a jetski which was a total nuisance but aside from that it was bliss.

A beautiful, tranquil place to visit. I visited Lough Ree from the Hudson Bay side. I hope to visit again later in the year when it's brighter and I have more time to spend

Beautiful place, loads of different birds to spot, really quiet and sheltered space to pitch the tent and big, level rock to use the stove. Two big bins as well means no litter at all left lying about.

Lovely lake. Gets very busy in the summer but it is a superb place to visit anyways provided it is not too windy for navigation

One of the most peaceful lakes in Ireland. Often during the summer months everybody's enjoyment of the tranquillity is spoiled by a few idiots using high-powered noisy speedboats and jetskis. Waterways Ireland should impose a maximum speed limit for the whole lake and river. Nests in waterside rushes and reed beds are frequently swamped and lost through the thoughtless behaviour of these few individuals.

Beautiful wee spot. We stop every time we are passing with a picnic, takeaway or simply a cup of tea. It ideally splits our long journey home nicely and the view is spectacular.
