The parking situation is dangerous if you have kids or dogs and it's busy. The walk from the road down when there's cars passing is terrifying. I'd avoid on very sunny days as it's very busy but on quieter days it's heaven on earth

This is a beautiful place to visit, with lots of walkways and trials to choose from evidence of railway tracks and lots of bog land made for a great day out! Highly recommend a swim in the lake, water is beautiful...

Wonderful area just on the edge of Portarlington that was once an area of peat production and electricity generation. Now converted into a beautiful area for walking , jogging ,fly fishing. Two lakes are the focal point of this region with multiple walks and tracks for all levels of fitness. Picnic tables are dotted all around the lakes so it’s ideal for families to enjoy a day out . Check this area out you won’t regret it.

Nice area for walk with dog. You u can also feed the swans. In summer you can also swim here. but you have to be careful because the lake is deep.

Very nice hiking. We did the red one which was like 10.4km. They had stuffy bears on the trees for bear hunt with the kids, very beautiful paths on the woods and it was not crowded. There were just some litter during the whole walk though.

Great walks to suit all walking abilities- check the map on arrival and be sure to wear good boots if the weather is wet as it gets boggy in places on the bog walk

Lovely walks around lake and longer trail through woods. Areas is very family-friendly, with shorter trails for kids. All is beautifully planned and maintained by local community development group.

It's a calm n serene view of the lake, but no facilities like toilets or cafe. Also a bit muddy, very difficult to go with wheelchair or children prams.
