I met John accidentally at the bus stop. BEST decision I made was to join his cliff walking tour. He is a great story teller, he knew the best spots for pictures. With his sense of humor I loved every bit of the cliff walk. Thanks to him, instead of just walking around like a tourist, I learnt about the incredible history, legends, folklore etc.... about lovely Howth. Thank you John for sharing your lovely poems and your time with us. I highly recommend everyone to join him if you visit Howth.

An enchanting tour of 'Hidden Howth' (rhymes with boat) with a delightful, insightful guide, John the Man, full of local history, literature and poetry. Woven with his own delightful poems and scenery to awe, this tour is John's daily pilgrimage to his ancestors, generations of whom reside in the ruined abbey, and a real treat for the unsuspecting visitor. We travelled to Dublin especially for this tour and were not disappointed. Thank you John the Man

We couldn’t recommend John more! He was easily the highlight of our trip. The Howth walking tour was so much fun and he is very knowledgeable on all things Ireland. We also did the pub tour with him which was filled with so much history and fun stories! He even was able to organize a special lunch, and for us to see the cliffs of Moher. Absolutely a great time and a fantastic guy!! Would give more than 5 stars if I could.

Collected surprisingly and spontaneously barely having left the train, John took me together with a super nice group of people on an extraordinary walk full of stories and tales about the island! My highlight: Poems in the middle of a stonishing nature!! Humour all along the way and many friendly chats :) Thanks for making my day, John!!! It was definitely worth more than a Penny ;)

We met John very unexpectedly at the bus stop and he decided to do us the favour of accompaning us on the cliff walk and our stroll through Howth. Because of him this was an unforgetable experience filled with stories and interesting facts about Howth, the Irish culture and life in general. Moreover, his recommended restaurant is a MUST! Without him you won't be able to get the full Howth Cliff walk experience! Thanks John!

John's tour is a proper one. He's chock full of gen, colorful, and laid-back, blending the spirit, geography, and history ("factual" or flourished) of Howth. The rustic side of Dublin should be explored, and John is in fact the man to see about it.

Me and my friend had a walking tour with John the Man after running into him outside of the train station, and I can honestly say it was one of the best parts of my trip to Ireland. He connected us to the history of Howth, giving us context and information that made the peninsula that much more amazing. The breathtaking views and friendly people were a huge part of the trip, but this walking tour brought the culture of Ireland to life in a way I never would have experienced otherwise. Truly one of my favorite moments in Europe thus far. If you are lucky enough to run into John, spend time with him and let him take you on a journey in Howth that you will never forget.

I was looking for a tour in Howth well before my trip to Ireland. I am so happy I found John’s tour. I decided to go with him because he is a certified guide and because he has a heart of gold. It’s important for me to have a guide who really knows his history and who tells good stories. Because John has his ATGI - Approved Tourist Guides of Ireland - I knew that he was well trained. But beyond just knowing his history - John tells great stories! They are better told by the man himself! The tour is really an experience. There’s a reason almost everyone in the town of Howth stops to say hi to John - because they love him! You’ll get to meet some new friends along the way because John is very connected to the community of Howth. So if you’re looking for the perfect tour, look no more, the man they call the man, is a great man from Ireland. Go walk the stunning cliffs of Howth, to see the beauty for yourself, and have a laugh and make a friend, it’s a great day for you that I highly recommend.

Words cannot fully explain our experience. John's only mission is to share Ireland's magic with any and everyone he meets. We recognized that right away and trusted him and his knowledge, which completely changed our entire trip for the better. After meeting John, we were able to see Ireland from a local, historical, and purposeful perspective. From Howth Cliffs, Dublin pubs, the Cliffs of Moher and beyond, we had an incredible time with John. We learned, we laughed, we ate, we drank, and built a connection to last. We will definitely be recommending John to anyone that visits Ireland. Looking forward to next time. Thanks for everything, John!

“Bringing the countryside alive” That’s what our guide “John The Man” did today for me and another girl travelling alone. We were both planning on doing that walk by ourselves and instead, we were blessed with the best guide in Ireland. 👌🏻 Amazing storyteller, very generous man, great human being. Céad mile fáilte, John! 😊

John was an excellent tour guide, great stories and shared many interesting facts (and a few fictions) about Ireland and Howth. Highly recommend it if you’re in Dublin! For John, three words: Poet and scholar.

John the Man is a delight! He was fun, knowledgeable, and helped my now-fiancé pull off a surprise engagement. He took us through hidden areas of Howth that we would never have managed to find on our own and had so many stories, poems, and songs that he shared throughout the day. I would highly recommend seeking out his tour -- it will be a highlight of your trip!!

My friends and I ran into John in Howth and joined him on his tour without knowing what to expect. I can confidently say it was one of my favorite days in my three months in Europe. It was a fabulous last day spent abroad! We were smiling ear to ear for the entire day. John is from the area and extremely knowledgable. He delivered tons of unique and insightful information about Howth, while keeping the tour fun and lighthearted. It is evident that John is passionate about his job and that he cares about making connections with those who join him on his tours. I could not recommend more, this tour is a must! Super quick and easy travel time to get to Howth (~40 minutes by bus from Dublin city center).

My friend and I met John the Man while walking the cliff trail. He made our time at Howth very enjoyable. We loved his stories and all the fun information he added to his tour. He also recommended a fish chowder to us at the end of our tour. It was the perfect ending! Great tour guide!

Wonderful tour of Howth with “John the Man”, fourth generation from Howth. Enough said! It included deep insights into Howth and Ireland, beautiful scenery, and a great lunch (our dime). Highly recommend.

A friend highly recommended John the Man's Howth Walking Tour -- and I'm so glad she did -- it was a highlight of our trip to Ireland. John reached out the day before our tour to make sure we had everything covered and knew how to get to him by train. He met us at the station with a huge smile and took us on an unforgettable adventure through the myth, history, and beauty of Howth. John has a deep passion and respect for what he does and makes sure everyone is included in the experience; a natural storyteller with a hospitable, deep heart. My favorite part was our short hike to see the lighthouse (and when John recited some lovely poems for us by heart). Thank you for creating this memorable experience for us! :) Will absolutely book again when in Dublin. Until next time, John! - Love, the Jersey Girls
