Don't use this company they are just a scam and unperfesinal , I made a reservation for a hostel in colombia and when I wanted to change the dates of the booking i followed the instructions from the email and nobody got back to me till it was too late and I had to pay the deposit, and when they finally got back to me they say they are not responsible for the booking even though in my bank statement it clearly says the money went to them, And everything from the conformation email clearly says that to make any changes contact hostelworld. Anyway don't use them they'll just steal your money the first chance they get

My booking was cancelled by the hostel due to the current circumstances. Hostel World will not refund my deposit (which was for a group booking) but only offer a credit to book with them again which is absolutely useless in these times. I have just been let go from my job and could do with this money but I guess companies like this couldn't care less about that.

We are disappointed from this website because there is misleading information for flexible deposit. We paid for protection of deposit and in the end we lost it. Be CAREFUL when you choose this website!!!!

This company is not legitimate. My original booking was apparently under the flexible booking which meant I could not be refunded to my bank account on cancelation only to my hostel world account. Now the further booking I made for chester back backers in order to use my 'credit' was set to free cancelation so in your terms and conditions that cannot be paid with via credit in my hostel world account. Your booking status on your websites are set and not changeable as your customer service representative claims. This in effect is a con and no company with a decent reputation would be doing this. I do not believe this is an accident. You are claiming that your website has a choice of booking status when reserving a hostel. This in fact is not true the booking status is set in order to obtain money from your customers to be held by your company and then it is made extremely difficult or impossible to access this without making further booking whereby you take further booking fees. This is a trading standards issue. I have copied this email to my local trading standards and also the UK ECC Services.

Didn't receive any confirmation email. Had to pay directly again when I arrived in Fira. No refund, no reply. DO NOT USE.

Very bad customer service and advertising, had an issue where they took a depoait even though the booking was cancelled (not through me) then when I queried it and tried to get my money back they told me they couldn't do it however when I booked there was nothing to say my deposit would be non refundable. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

Unable to contact via telephone. Just refer back to email contact where automatic computer responses are sent that don’t help a bit. Thereby not able to cancel our booking and paying 600$ for something we don’t want anymore although it is many weeks in advance.

If I could post minus stars I would. Do NOT book through hostel world. I accidentally cancelled my booking (this was within 24hrs which i have screenshots saying that it can be edited within 24hrs) and they refused to reinstate my booking or refund me. They kept telling me to contact the hostel directly and when I was told that it had to go through hostelworld they refused to take any responsibility or help me. NEVER AGAIN

Hostelworld booker booked a room for my family even there's no available room and I never refunded. I sent emails to them but I never received a response to my issue

Doesnt have any goodwill to human errors. I did a mistake in the booking and tried to edit it. Tried to contact them, but they do not show any kindness.

Never ever use Hostelworld. I paid a €210 deposit and exercised my right to a refund within 3 days and it was rejected. I have the screenshots to proove the Hostelworld were liable. Furthermore when I settled for a credit note they said it could only be used for booking deposits - meaning I would need to spend over €1000 in accommodation costs in order to get full use of the credit note. I know it has an office in my home country of Ireland but stay away from Hostelworld. Incident #4354548

As a hostel owner this one star goes to the cool guests that comes through your website. Otherwise I wouldn't give even this one! I've to beg your employers to make a change on your useless extranet (pms, that looks like windows 95) that didn't change a thing in 3 years of using it. You spent the money at famous stars to advertise your website instead of hearing better developers and designers or at least more support agents (it's taking from 3-7 days to solve one simple issue with your agents). Really disappoint with you guys.

Totally dishonest- they refuse to allow reviews that mention BED BUGS. I would think that's pretty important. We made the mistake of trusting their reviews and ended up staying in an infested hostel. DO NOT USE.

This hostel is the best one I have ever seen. It is clean and its familiar atmosphere makes it clear for you to spend an unforgettable time in Dublin. It is also perfectly located as the buses to the inner city and the Dublin airport are 3-5 minutes walk from the hostel. It does not matter whether you are old or young, you are always nicely welcome. I will come back soon! Thank you for everything :)

Nobody answers the phone!!!!! Its 2020!!! Try and be like Booking.Com, great customer service, super support. Its not exactly reinventing the wheel!!!!
