We have been coming to this restaurant for years on end and after tonight we won’t be back. We booked in for my wife’s 60th birthday and between the bad food and poor service, I’m not sure which left a worse taste in my mouth. My wife and daughter ordered the prawn linguini and I ordered the salmon. The salmon looked like a cheap supermarket cut and was way over cooked and the potatoes I ordered were dry and bland. I was told they are served vegan after I asked the waitress why they were so bad this time. No seasoning, butter or milk. The prawn pasta was so spicy it was almost inedible and made my daughter feel ill. The spice was not indicated on the menu and the waitress did not let us know it was in any way spicy. Another waitress then asked why didn’t anyone tell us and I said that’s a great question. We have never had a bad meal here until this time. The only enjoyable things we ordered were the garlic sauce and chips. When I spoke to the manager she was very defensive and asked why I didn’t tell anyone, after I made complaints to two waitresses previously. She did nothing to rectify the situation and when she went to go “talk to the chef” I could see her and the chef laughing through the large windows. She came back out and completely ignored me as I tried to talk to her again. I am so disgusted at the treatment we had tonight after such a disappointing meal. What was supposed to be a lovely celebration for my wife’s birthday was spoiled by this restaurant. After being loyal customers for years, we were very saddened to have had such an awful experience and to see this establishment fall into such a state.

I've delayed my review of this establishment because I wanted to calm down. It has 'won' awards and so on. I'm a simple person so I shall be very blunt with my review. Firstly, it's totally overstaffed... That means 5 staff that couldn't pee on their own vs 1 good member of stdaff that could do the work of the 5/6 kids around the till... Secondly, the service is horrendous. I don't mean poor - I mean service that you would not wish upon your worst enemy... Thirdly, the food was terrible. We were there the previous week and gave the chance that it was an aberration... Well, technically, it was an aberration - to food. Fourthly, the prices are outrageous... Basically charging Michelin Star prices for less than Supermacs quality or service. Fifthly, I suggest to anybody to spend your money on a charity instead of this establishment. However, perhaps they consider themselves a charity as at one stage 8 kids were standing around the till without giving any service to anybody. Finally, this place would be improved greatly if the electricity failed and they had to close down for... Perhaps 58 years

Another top class takeaway Sunday lunch from our favourite restaurant. We are so lucky to have you in Ballinlough. Before I even mention the food I have to compliment the service by Ray, Mags & Saoirse. It is simply flawless. The extra care and attention they have paid during Covid for us has been mind blowing and our treasured takeaway meals have kept us looking forward through some very trying weeks. The food is simply exquisite my favourite is the smoky barbecue chicken wings, the wonderful stir fries and the ribs. The desserts and cocktails are truly dreamy. Thank you to all in the Old Stonehouse Restaurant who have continued to excel through the most difficult past year, we can’t wait to be back at the fire and spending an evening with you. What a find. Attentive staff. Rare to see CO2 monitor and air con in active use. Amuse Bouche of vegetable soup a real triumph. Ribs scrumptious (large portion), steak as good as had in many a year. Desert (Afagato, Chocolate Mousse) simply lovely. Will return when next in the area. Recommending to family and friends.

Very poor hospitality. Management completed disregarded our concerns and disappointment. Had prebooked a private function room for a naming ceremony for my child. Staff kept entering the room throughout the ceremony. As we all sat down to dessert after dinner the manager came to me and informed me that another party were coming into the room, she was rude and had very poor communication skills.Over all, the experience was unprofessional and poorly ran and caused me significant stress. Considering the prices of the food is very very high it is just not worth it the food is good but over priced. Also poor selection of beers and nothing worse than ordering a 7up and been given a sprite.I have been a regular costumer there for many years and will definetly not be returning. With the prices they charge you would expect better hospitality and some respect from management. Definelty not a place to consider for a small function.

Visited for a family meal, food was excellent only issue was one of the salmon portions was a bit small. Staff very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.

Have been here for a date night, 2 birthday celebrations and a wedding. The separate vegan/vegetarian menu is amazing. They put a lot of effort into it and it really sets it apart from other restaurants. The food is consistently gorgeous, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. They want to make sure you have a good time. Highly highly recommend.

Taking way too many bookings without the staff to cope with them. Waited nearly an hour for my first drink and gave up waiting and left the second time I had my food order taken. Extremely loud too, like a packed pub. I've been before and the food was excellent, which is why I've given any stars at all, but I'd definitely avoid busy periods.

Visited the Old Stone House yesterday for Saturday Dinner. It was our fourth visit so far. We had two different fish courses, soup of the day and coffee this time, and we were absolutely delighted with them. The menu is well stocked and has plenty of options to suit all and the food itself was amazing every time. The staff were very attentive and friendly and the restaurant was warm and inviting. This is a little gem of a restaurant in the heart of Ballinlough that's offers fabulous food at a very reasonable price. We'll definitely be booking again. Margaret and Ray, thank you so much for your fantastic food .

Service started off great, slight delay on drinks order and had to send back one of the steaks but the staff were very apologetic and helpful about the issue. However, service really dropped after mains, we were given a desert menu and no staff came back to us to take the order. We waited for quite some time approx 30 mins or so. We decided to pay and leave, we were very disappointed as the food was great but the pricing didn't match the service standards overall. I disclosed to a member of staff the reason as to why we were leaving also. Very disappointing end to the night as it was a special occasion.

Went at the weekend for the first time and will definitely be back. We shared the prawns and duck spring rolls for starters, which were delicious. The duck main course is full of flavour. Service was the best I have seen in a long time, very efficient and friendly. Lovely interior and nice atmosphere. Recommend to anyone looking for either dinner/lunch or to book an event such as Christening, birthday etc.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary here this evening and had a really wonderful night, the food and service was amazing.The menu is really varied, was tough to choose and every course was incredible. Everyone was great, but would like to give an extra special thank you to Shannon! Highly recommend the Old Stone House to anyone wanting a top class meal and excellent service. We felt properly spoiled 🥰❤️

Stopped by this restaurant on the way home and seen good reviews online. We went in without a booking and we were greeted by the lovely host who seated us straight away. The food was incredible!! The host mentioned that the food is all made fresh to make. I really didn’t expect the food to be that good but wow, I will definitely be returning!! 10/10

This is excellent Restraunt for dinner which also extensive vegetarian menu Great starters main menu gorgeous and as for deserts I had ice team with bails and espresso over next to ??

Definitely a 5⭐️ rating all round! Absolutely fabulous restaurant with the best of staff making your visit one to remember! Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for somewhere special for an occasion.

One of the best restaurants I have had the pleasure of having a meal in, in a long time...it was just fabulous! Atmosphere, venue, food, drinks, staff...everything was superb. Will definately be back.

Our first time eating here tonight and it won't be our last. Lovely atmosphere, staff were full of smiles and very attentive. Food was quick to come out. I had the celeriac soup to start, cashew Thai curry for main and chocolate fondant for dessert. All delicious, the soup was one of the best I've ever had. The portion of the main was huge and piping hot. The chocolate fondant was incredible, you have to try it! My fiancé had tomato bruschetta and the vegetable stir fry with noodles. We shared chips and garlic bread also. My one tiny suggestion would be that the vegan options of stir fry and cashew Thai curry could've done with some tofu or something to add some interest and protein rather than just veg. Cocktails were delicious - try the Ballinlough Sunset and Red Devil. Overall, a fabulous hidden gem in Roscommon. You won't be disappointed.

The owners, chefs and staff should be so proud of themselves. The food and service is absolutely Brilliant and reasonable. I've heard wonderful things about here and by God, the place lived up to its name. Well Done. Highly recommend.

Great place to eat food is amazing cant recommend enough

Fabulous meal and lovely atmosphere. Mentioned that my parents in law were celebrating an anniversary and they were surprised with glasses of Prosecco, a really thoughtful gesture.

We had dinner in this wonderful restaurant with two of our friends. The atmosphere was warm, cosy and very friendly. We were greeted with smiles from all the staff. Food was fantastic. No delays and was so delicious 😋. Extremely busy but yet the place felt calm. I would recommend having a cocktail or two with your meal, they go down very very well😄. Definitely will return.

Amazing food and service, even got happy birthday sung to me by the staff, will definitely be going back 5 stars
