Beautiful Authentic Italian restaurant, with wonderful Italian staff, we got a beautiful window seat looking out on the canal in portobello, started off with most important menu of the night, the wine! Ordered a Trebbiano, perfect dry wine for our pasta dishes! We ordered the Pappardelle Venison and mushroom Tagliatelle with truffle & parmesan. It was so filling and full of flavour! Finished off the meal with an espresso and profiteroles! We will be back! fantastic evening

Great staff who provide a warm welcome. The restaurant is wonderfully situated beside the canal. The restaurant itself has a somewhat tired decor and the food is unimpressive.

I Monelli is the best pasta I have ever eaten! I do not say that lightly. Everyone in the kitchen really knows what they’re doing. From start to finish every part of this meal was perfection. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very personable. We were very well attended throughout the entire experience. Typically I do not opt for dessert after dinner but after tasting the pasta we knew we’d be missing out on something if we skipped it. So glad we went all out with wine, an appetizer, pastas, dessert and digestifs. It was all delicious. I Monelli is a very special place! I would give it 100 stars if I could.

I have been there yesterday with my team from work. Initially we had reserved for 6 people but then needed to increase to 9, which was no issue for the staff and capacity of the restaurant - thanks! The atmosphere inside is very nice and seems like in a classic Italian restaurant. I had the Vitello tonato as starter, then the papardelle al ragu followed by a tiramisu. The quality of the food was very good. The dishes were tasty and presented in an appealing way. I give “only” 4 stars, as the portions were quite small considering the rather high prices. Overall, we had a very nice evening and the food was great! Will go there again but maybe being slightly less hungry.

This is a really fantastic Italian Restaurant. The choice of food on the menu is excellent. The staff were friendly and the service was very good. The food was really outstanding and tasted divine. The location on the canal really lent itself to the atmosphere. I would highly recommend..

We really felt like we were back in Italy. We had aperitifs, the mixed plate of meat & cheeses to start, then two pasta dishes and tiramisu for dessert. Everything eas delicious and we felt reasonably priced for Dublin. We'll definitely be back and are kicking ourselves for not coming here sooner.

Recommend us dish and pasta of the day. Atmosphere was very good. We got calamari which where delicious- Arinchini - very nice and mussels - they where ok not the best . Mains - mixed sea food pasta - absolutely delicious and veal Ragu and again lovely - wine menu is very good really nice Sicily red we got- one thing I would A suggestion - It be nice to give you Some Italian Bread or something - Mussels where not the best but overall yes well Recommend I’ll be back !

Lovely evening had here. Nice ambiance and authentic Italian food. Monkfish pasta dish was superb! Wasn’t blown away with the special starter, the beef carpaccio in terms of taste or price. It reminded me of the Parmesan shavings from main stream supermarkets. The reservation on open table was marked as a birthday but not so much as acknowledgement or even a sparkler, I guess they didn’t check the reservation details. That said, will definitely be back to sample some more menu options! Recommended!

Like: -Simple yummy Italian food, - Nice location on the canal, watching the swans float by -They accommodated walk in (no reservation) for dinner on a Saturday night! Dislike: - Nothing!

We chose the party set menu. I tried the bruschetta (really nice), the Irish Angus stake (the meat a little dry, but the sauce helped) and the Tiramisu (very soft and sweet, I liked it). Check the pics for references!

Although the restaurant is cozy and staff is kind, cannot have the same positive comments for foods. The taste and quality needs to be checked again. Tiramisu was a huge disappointment. My friend ate meat and penne and we both have the same opinion.

I Monelli is one of the best Italian restaurants in Dublin! The place is small and cozy, the food is delicious and the staff are the most friendly ever! We went there last night for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday and it was the best choice ever. I’d like to say a big thank you to the waiter Marco and the chef who cooked an amazing meal for us. Would highly recommended it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the best Italian food I have ever tried not only abroad but also in Italy itself .In every dish you'll try in the menu you can taste the true olive oil tomatoes etc. Food was so tasty and fresh full of flavor and the service was amazing, staff were very attentive The spaghetti with lobster was an excellent choice 100% recommended.

Have been to I Monelli a couple of times and it has always been a lovely meal. The most recent meal was a 4/5. The service was quite slow for a Thursday but it was reasonably busy. ... the food was nice, for starter i had the arancini was a lil burn on the outside but was still nice, the ragu cannelloni was delish lots of flavour.. I will defo visit again.

Nice food, relaxing environment. Pricy but good food. I didn’t like that much parmigiana, which was tasteless, small and expensive. Very cold inside, bring a coat. Friendly staff.

Solid meal with a group of Co workers. Restaurant is cozy but clean, wait staff attentive but not annoying. Food was generally quite good, nobody was disappointed with their choices of mains and the appetizers were quickly demolished.

A great Italian restaurant in front of the iconic Portobello canal. The staff is amazing.

Food is very average. The restaurant ambience and location is great. Staff is good too. But the food was way below our expectations. Also they have a set menu for kids for 13euros that has mains (and pizza was over when we reached, so we had to go for pasta) + ice cream + coke or orange juice. My kid is 2 years old and this doesn't make sense. Not impressed mainly because of the taste and portions of the food. Expensive for what it is.
