Unfortunately
we
didnt
read
the
reviews...
Thankfully
we
arrived
early
evening.
On
first
entering
the
premises,
we
noticed
how
cold
and
damp
the
reception
area
was,
which
wasnt
that
welcoming
on
a
cold
Dunedin
day!
The
receptionist
was
cheerful
and
helpful,
and
advised
us
that
the
shower
on
2nd
floor
didnt
have
any
hot
water
so
we
had
to
use
shower
on
1st
floor.
That
was
fine.
We
made
our
way
upto
our
room
on
2nd
floor,
the
hallways
were
poorly
lit
and
freezing
cold
and
down
our
corridor
there
was
no
lighting
at
all,
once
we
found
the
light
switch
we
were
able
to
find
our
room.
On
entering
room,
it
was
cold
and
damp,
with
mouldy
ceilings
which
had
been
poorly
covered
over
with
paint.
Cracks
in
ceiling
and
walls,
stains
on
carpets
and
sheets,
no
emergency
information
on
how
to
exit
building
in
an
event
of
fire.
We
immediately
put
heater
on
and
and
i
went
in
search
of
the
1st
floor
shower.
After
walking
through
more
poorly
lit
corridors
i
eventually
found
the
womens
shower
block
which
was
clean
and
tidy.
At
this
stage
looking
forward
to
a
nice
hot
shower,
only
to
be
disappointed
with
enough
hot
water
for
a
30
sec
shower.
Cold
and
shivering
i
rushed
back
upstairs
to
our
room
to
warm
up.
Only
to
be
disappointed
again
with
how
poorly
the
heater
had
heated
the
room.
Went
for
dinner
and
arrived
back
late
evening
to
a
cold
room
once
again.
Turns
out
Heater
only
goes
for
an
hour
at
a
time.
Freezing
cold
the
3
of
us
hopped
into
one
double
bed
fully
clothed
to
keep
warm
as
the
bedding
was
completely
inadequate
for
cold
Dunedin
nights.
One
sheet
and
one
very
thin
duvet.
We
slept
well.
It
was
quiet.
But
woke
to
a
freezing
room,
so
huddled
around
the
heater
to
keep
warm.
We
didnt
bother
with
showering.
This
could
actually
be
quite
a
cool
hostel
with
better
management.
Clearly
the
owners
are
just
out
to
make
a
quick
buck
and
arent
really
bothered
with
what
customers
experience.
Id
say
they
are
probably
being
propped
up
by
winz
as
extra
emergency
housing
so
couldnt
really
give
a
monkies!!
We
are
well
travelled
kiwis
who
live
in
central
otago
so
pretty
hardy
but
felt
that
it
wasnt
value
for
money!!
Id
advise
just
staying
one
night,
bring
extra
blankets
and
your
own
heater
in
winter!!
