Terrible experience. Came to celebrate my friends 50th birthday. At check in only one room of 2 was ready so we headed along to the room. The room was anything but ready no pillows or duvet on beds. Furniture was a disgrace and certainly not 4* , more fit for the dump. We went back to reception and other rooms were found for us. I can only say these rooms were slightly better with damp stains on lamp shade, marks on the walls, curtains didn’t meet in the middle. On the way to the rooms at 3:40pm the corridors were full of dirty dishes/glasses, empty bottles and laundry. You expect to see this in the morning as your leaving but certainly not at that time of day when you have checked in. Staff helpful. On request the manager came to our room to discuss the issues with us. Wouldn’t go back. Pity I couldn’t upload the pictures but been put on trip advisor 😡

If I could leave zero stars, I would! I purchased an overnight stay for my parents as part of a Christmas gift. When they arrived they were shown a room which had black mould around the bath tub and the room smelled of old smoke. The bedroom was tired and old fashion and the beds were uncomfortable. They asked to pay for an upgrade but no other rooms were available. They wanted to leave but as it was a gift felt They couldn't. I contacted the hotel and was told to wait 10 days for a "manger" to respond but Joanna the manger doesn't return emails or calls. Still waiting for a reply.... The hotel staff confirmed lots of complaints regarding the same issues. I am horrified my parents had this experience. AVOID!!!!

***please share*** Booked a family room in Airth Castle Hotel for valentines night for our family for my birthday. Arrived at 2.45pm to check in…was greeted with a very rude receptionist called Deborah who glared at us but said nothing…so we said “Hi were here to check in….she then said snappily all reservations have been cancelled you should have received an email. We were in shock firstly at her attitude and also the fact that when we checked our emails we were only sent one 1.15pm stating booked cancelled with no explanation. We were travelling at that time so clearly didn’t get the email hence why we turned up! We then asked to speak to manager as we were very annoyed and upset at the initial treatment from the receptionist. The general manager Rhys then came over and didn’t even introduce himself I had to ask him…he then proceeded to say your booking doesn’t exist so there is nothing we can do…at this point we were challenging him asking why this had happened and he stated they had no gas so kitchen was off..I then said we would be willing to stay there tonight room only basis as our children only wanted to use the pool facility and other guests who were already staying were permitted to do this….he said that is not option and when challenged again why we couldn’t do this he said your booking doesn’t exist so we won’t be accommodating you he did not at any point offer us any apology or alternative arrangement and when we challenged him he was rude and obnoxious and then had the cheek to ask us to leave the hotel as we were being aggressive!!!! Other guests witnessed this and also agreed that the staff were rude and unhelpful with them also!!! We were left shocked and our children were very upset! No one should be treated like that especially from hospitality staff. Never experienced anything like it at all in all my overnight stays in different hotel all over!! Customer service was non existent! Would not want any other family getting treated like this!!!

When all the rooms are modernized this hotel will be superb. Public areas are very comfortable clean and modern. The restaurant is first class and the quality of the food and service is excellent. It is a buffet style breakfast but it is hot and appetizing and being continually recharged. The pool and the hot tub, steam room and sauna are all good. All in all would have given a five star review if only the room we had was better. However a modernization programme is under way and is being addressed. Would we come back? Absolutely

Stayed here recently and had a great time - staff were friendly and accommodating, food was good and we had a great stay. There were four of us so we had two rooms - one was a generous size, modern and really lovely.. the other was quite run down and dated so we were a little dissapointed. I do know there’s renovations going on so hopefully it’s just the case that the other room hadn’t been worked on yet. We made use of the pool, jacuzzi, steam room etc - again I think that in there could do with a little bit of work and more loungers but we did enjoy it. I’d definitely return and as mentioned staff at reception and bar staff were all great!

Was a wee bit disappointed to find that the accommodation was in a separate building to the castle. After over 8 months to get there was disappointed that the family room didn't meet the discription on the website. However we all enjoyed our over night stay. Do have to say that the large conservatory restaurant lacked atmosphere and the food, at the time was very overpriced for what we ordered, based on that we decided not to pay for breakfast. The staff were all very nice and friendly.

Stayed for 3 days over the Christmas period on an excellent deal. Not surprisingly, the hotel was busy. All good though. A bit of a wait in a queue for the carvery section of meals but mot too bad. Didn't use the spa facilities this time but definitely will in future. Looking forward to a future visit

We were here for the New Year’s party. And I was apprehensive about that because of the negative reviews on here about the place. It turned out to be a fantastic evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Fast forward a couple of months. Came here for dinner tonight. The food was fantastic, I cannot fault it. However, the service is appalling. Waited 40 mins after finishing main course, and had to flag someone down to take our plates away and order dessert. Similar story then finishing dessert and waiting for the bill. Eventually I asked for the manager as tables all around us were waiting for something. I genuinely felt sorry for the manager. She was physically shaking, but was very pleasant. Was extremely apologetic. It feels like a training issue than anything else… as it wasn’t overly busy and food was being delivered quickly (once actually ordered). Attentiveness to finished tables and drinks orders seems to be the Achilles heel. I really hope Airth castle addresses this, as it’s a major player of the attractiveness to the village (I’ve just moved into the new estate here). And would love nothing more than to see it thrive… but it just isn’t.
