We went on a guided tour of the current exhibition, house and garden of Roberto Marinho, a well know Brazilian publisher and business man who turned Globo from a newspaper, then radio and now one of the biggest national TV channel. Everything exposed belongs to the Marinho's family. They were mostly gifts from various artists throughout the decades. You can even see the changes in art from different time periods. The building has storage compartments for your bags, a small cafeteria, clean bathrooms and cold water. I totally advise a guided tour. If you're in Rio, I'm a local guide here. Here the visitor enjoys beautiful oil art exhibitions, photographs and sculptures. The pieces are part of the collection of Roberto Marinho and Family, as well as other Brazilian museums and contemporary artists who develop themes in place with the private works of the Roberto Marinho Institute. The house is beautiful and has beautiful gardens of Burle Max, the largest landscaper in Brazil. The Orpheus cafe in the garden annex is divine. The entire menu explores national themes with perhaps a taste of the Marinho family. All very chic, clean and perfect.

Superb private collection of Brazilian paintings from 30's to &50's. Very well organized and cared for. Clean and safe. Validation parking across the street. Small fee to enter. One can only imagine the political and business deals from decades past sealed within the confines of the museum. If you ever wandered what a tropical version of William Randolph Hearst would look like, this is the place.

A wonderful spot. There is a small art gallery as well as a restaurant and bookstore. The surrounding gardens are lovely -- with a koi pond, waterfall, pond, fountain, steam -- just to name a few features. Entry is free!

Elegant and traditional site with beautiful gardens, small lakes with fish and birds. An exuberant presence of a waterfall of the main river of the city, the Carioca river, a small gallery with range of one of the best of brazilian artists among them Portinari Guinard, Tarsila do Amaral, Lasar Segal among many other names and contemporary artists. There is a small cinema showing a short film about the life and work of the owner's once upon in time home. A cozy cafe is near by with delicious cakes and coffee with warm, helpful staff. Entrance is accessible for wheelchair.

An art and landscaping museum - former residence of a media Tycoon. The gardens are a Burle Marx project and the museum is all about Modernism. Wednesday is the free visiting day.

👍👍 An excellent aviation museum, offering a vast selection of current and previous generations of Brasilian aircraft. Well worth the visit. I spent about 90 minutes looking at everything. An Uber from the south zone of Rio is about R$100 +/- depending on the time of day, and takes about an hour each d...
