Rise is relying on their reputation without delivering the quality that initially made them popular. Rise used bake a huge assortment of delicious and creative donuts, the best you could find anywhere. Today, the selection is less than half what it used to be as they are pushing other products like breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Not only has the donut selection dwindled, but so has the quality. Today, Rise bakes a very ordinary donut, comparable to a grocery store bakery. The one thing Rise has retained is their premium pricing with donuts prices ranging from $1.50 for glazed and up to $3.00 for specialty pastries. They are definitely not that good. As they've shrunk their donut lineup, they've expanded their breakfast sandwich lineup. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit for $5. It would have been good, except they use that fake processed cheese (which I personally hate) and it ruined the sandwich. $5 for a breakfast sandwich is bordering on expensive, but when the sandwich is horrifyingly similar to McDonalds, there's no reason to pay a premium. Three years ago, Rise was my breakfast tradition every weekend. I would have given them 10 out of 5 stars. Today, there's nothing remarkable to recommend and their demise is a genuine tragedy.

The new self order station is very hard to navigate. They don't offer the cheddar biscuit upgrade for some of their options. If you want to customize your biscuit you have to order stuff on the side and add it to your biscuit yourself. The build a biscuit ends up being 3 or 4 dollars more if you try to build the one you want instead of ordering extra sides to add to an existing biscuit They also don't do any of their biscuit or donut specials anymore, which was part of the reason I started coming here years ago. The staff was very nice and helpful, but this place isn't what it used to be. Generally not worth the money anymore. $25 for two biscuits and 2 sides. And I have to build mine myself. Very frustrating experience. Won't be coming back any time soon.

The chicken was tough and stringy and flavorless. The pimento was flavorless. The cheddar biscuit was salty and dry and tasted like a regular salty dry biscuit. I used a coupon for a $1 biscuit and I'm not even entirely sure it was worth the calories. Rise used to be so much better (years ago). Since the change in management, it's a place to get passable calories by ordering via touch screen (aka making your customers do the work for the positions that management eliminated) and pulling your food out of an oversized mailbox.

Thought that I’d try this place out since the only other donut place in the area is Dunkin and I had high hopes. If you just want to grab some donuts though, this is definitely not the place. I walked in on a Saturday morning and there was a large amount of people standing around looking confused. Waiting in line to order at the only self order kiosk that’s available so I decided to order online instead. The email I received said that I’d have to wait 9 minutes. Not bad I thought, but then 20 minutes after the time they said it would be ready and I still hadn’t received anything I was now one of the many confused looking people standing around. I finally received my donuts and discovered that they were missing one of the glazed donuts I ordered. I went back in to ask for one and they told me that it would take 5-6 minutes to make another glazed donut. The beignets I orders were hard like rocks and the other donuts tasted like they had been sitting under a heat lamp on a shelf for an hour. Definitely not worth the long wait and hassle. Save your time and go somewhere else if you just want donuts.

Pretty expensive for what you get. Also, no human interaction with staff. You order at kiosk and staff puts food in cubicle. Yet they still prompt for a tip, even before service has been provided. Why don't they just charge more, and pay their staff more? Food was decent, but I won't be back. Sheetz has more charm.

Highly Overrated: I gave this place two chances and had the same results both times. Nothing about this food is "Southern". I paid $6.00 and received soggy, gummy and near flavorless sausage(how is sausage flavorless??). My dog even turned down when I tried to give her what I wasn't willing to finish.

The Southpoint location is always reliable. They are efficient, they always get the order correct and the food is always delicious. The store is always clean and accommodating. If you need a biscuit fix, RISE is one of the best places to fulfill it.

This is the first time I've ever gone to a rise and not finished a donut. Ran in for a quick donut with the kids while wife was at target. First impression when I opened the box was that the sprinkle donuts looked under iced. No big deal. Then I broke a sprinkle donut in half for the kids to share and half the icing crumbled away. The sprinkle donuts tasted like day olds and the fritter was just ok. I guess 100% of effort has been put in biscuits afain

This place never lets me down!! The biscuits are always fresh & fluffy. Soooooo good!! No matter the choice, you will not be disappointed.

It's okay, I don't get hype about it. The only donut or item on the menu I've ever felt was worth the hype was the creme brulee donut and half the times I've went it's gone. The price is a little high for a regular donut and then you wait to get just that .... A regular donut. We've tried the biscuits and beignets and they worth good though

Amazing place, I highly recommend the build your own sandwich with lots of veggies. The fresh veggies pair perfectly with the savory eggs and biscuit. The drip coffee is amazing as well. I've been getting breakfast here every other week since I moved nearby and realized I haven't written a review. Highly recommend the beignets and apple fritters as well! All in all, a gem. When the weather is good, the outdoor seating is excellent.

Around $30 for 12 assorted donuts from the selection. If you want only frosted donuts the price is better but I wouldn't waste your time here.

Self service (kiosk), biscuit oriented food. Great biscuits. Had country ham, skip the sausage next time. Outstanding Tots. Wish they had better coffee & tea. Oj and milk available.

Rise is amazing! I’ve traveled to the Durham area twice now in the past two months and I’ve visited a Rise location each time I’ve been that way. The food is tasty, made to order, and everyone has been very nice whenever ive gone in there. I highly recommend the blueberry biscuits, they’re amazing. The only thing I’d let people know ahead of time is that there’s no indoor eating area at the two that I’ve gone to (Downtown Durham and Southpoint - although Southpoint had an outdoor area) so be prepared to grab and go! I’ll for sure be visiting Rise when I head back that way in a few weeks!

always love Rise! especially the fried green tomato biscuit with an egg on top—the pimiento cheese is 🤤. also if you are someone who likes to dip breakfast sausage in syrup, the blueberry biscuit with sausage is an amazing sweet/savory, too! have enjoyed both the meat and meatless sausages on there. and then of course, the self-serve takeaway keeps things warm and SO quick when ordering online. such a yummy weekend go-to before running errands.

A workplace fave, I put in a large online order at 702 am & it was ready by 728 when I pulled up. Parking was available and I was greeted with a smile. Awesome service & awesome food, will keep on recommending Rise to everyone I know!

Glazed donuts at $2 a pop only to be stale and dry. The beignets were tough but okay, definitely better than the donuts....overall: No thanks they were less than desirable. Not sure if it was an off morning as I've had them before and they tasted better . The woman who handed me my order was pleasant which is why the 2 stars beyond that i will pass. The experience was less than desireable.

Rise is one of my go-to breakfast spots! My favorite is the “Which Came First” biscuit and gravy meal and I can’t say enough about the blueberry biscuit! YUM!!! Their food is consistently delicious and the online ordering process is so easy. I love the take-out food lockers…I can walk in and grab my order in seconds.

Recommended to us by many folks, finally gave it a try. This review is for the south point location. If you’ve never been, the store front is very tiny. Everything is ordered either through a kiosk or you scan the QR code and place your order online. I love this business model as you don’t feel like you have to rush for the people in line behind you. We actually placed our order online while standing in line for the kiosk (we’re newbs, def faster to order ahead of time). On a Sunday morning it took about 10 minutes from order to pickup, with lots of people taking their orders to go. I had the sausage blueberry biscuit and a chocolate frosted donut. I was totally oblivious and did not realize that the blueberry biscuit is glazed/frosted. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing but it was overkill for me with a donut on the side. The donuts are alright; my donut was both glazed with chocolate frosting on top of the glaze. My partner had the Nashville chicken biscuit; he said it was decent. He also got the glazed blueberry biscuit on the side. So my takeaways: we will def eat here again; great way to get sweet and savory breakfast together; don’t come here if you want healthy breakfast.

Food is always fresh and yummy! I ordered fries, cheese grits and buttermilk bacon, egg and cheese biscuit online for pick-up. The food was ready super quick and my fries were fresh and hot. My grits and buttermilk biscuit are always so good! I absolutely love this place! I live only 5 minutes away and it is a pleasure to order breakfast for a quick visit.

I've been eating here since they first opened. It just keeps getting better. Their ability to serve a tremendous amount of people at once is mind-blowing. Right up there with Chick-fil-A if not faster. And omg that bacon, egg and cheese is the bomb.

Order online. Build your own starting with choice of biscuit, egg, meat (veggie or the real thang), toppings like fried green tomato, lettuce , fresh tomato slice, cheese, sauces. Pay for order, choose pickup time and show up to find your name on the electronic kiosk. Choose your name, enter order number then window opens with your order inside. Biscuits are done perfectly and that 's why you choose Rise. Toppings are high calorie comfort food. This Southpoint location in plaza next to Target on Renaissance parkway.

Can’t go wrong with their biscuits. I love that they’ve got decent veggie options and fried green tomatoes!

Not bad for a breakfast chicken spot. I did enjoy my southern breakfast chicken sandwich. The cheese on it was a bit tart for me. But overall it was a good sandwich. I enjoyed the cheesy grits. The okra was not bad. The fried green tomato wasn't my favorite and I love fried green tomatoes. I wish the batter was more cornmealish.

OMG! I thought this place would be overhyped by my friends who had recently moved down to Chapel Hill and I'm so happy to say that it was not. We ordered online in advance because this place is, rightfully, busy nearly every morning. Picking up the order is a bit unique because you go in and open up a locker that has your order in it; it's heated and keeps the food warm. I had the Nashville Hot Chicken and it was PHENOMENAL! The chicken was so juicy and cooked perfectly, the biscuit was incredible and the sauce was very spicy. My friend who always gets the buffalo chicken said the Nashville Hot was much spicier so order whichever of the two you think your palate can handle. My mouth is watering just thinking of this sandwich. Order here and you won't be disappointed.

I’ve been coming here since it was their only singular flagship store, almost a decade ago, before people knew how cool Durham was. I still order often. The pimento cheese is bomb, chicken is crispy and flavorful. Cheddar biscuits are great. Tots are amazing with the boom boom sauce. The menu and structure has changed quite a bit over the years due to them expanding and then becoming a franchise, but it’s still my reliable go to when I want to pickup breakfast.
