I caught an lift to get my food and when I got home my food was hard it tasted like burnt grease and so when I called them the man said that there was nothing he could do because they showed me my food and I left the restaurant. My thing is how can I tell that the food would taste like burnt grease by looking at it. I asked for my food to be replaced and he said no. I just feel like that is bad customer service and there should have been something they could have done for me.

The food was simply not good. The fish had a layer of uncooked batter between the fish and the crust. The food also needed seasoning. The okra was gummy in a way that I had never experienced before. It was a struggle to even attempt to eat the meal. I will be going elsewhere for my seafood dinners.

Cleanliness 3/5. Replaced a set of utensils due to rusty left over food smeared on the fork. Service 4/5. Very busy. Waitresses could use some help. They seem understaffed, more so in evenings. Quality 4/5. You can get your whole meal broiled or fried. That's a lot of grease. Wish they could look into air fryer options. Price 4/5. Good prices for fish. Fair, and good filling portions.

it was great never been there before it wasn't busy my order did take a little to get done it was less than 20mns and it was on a Friday night so ppl doing to go orders and dinning it.i wasn't disappointed at all

What sort of fish only appears at night? A star fish! Well in this case, the fish was so good that many stars are coming out. Five stars! In every category! plus I got to speak Indonesian with the staff. The food: Delicious! The tea: Delicious! I definitely like this restaurant.

A humble fried fish shack in a strip center between UNC and Duke. I ordered take out over the phone, and was met with HUGE portions at reasonable prices. The guys show you your takeout box BEFORE paying and I quite liked that. I wasn't a huge fan of the onions rings that turned out to be hush puppies LOL but everything else was perfect. The guys act the counter were VERY appreciative of the tip I left at the takeout counter. I'll be back next time I visit my kid at UNC.

Service was a little slow, but it was a busy Friday crowd so I can forgive that. Large fried catfish had three medium size pieces. Seems serving sizes are getting smaller and prices are getting higher. Don't know that I will be back.

Walked in, stood and waited while staff stood around and NEVER spoke or come to seat us. Several employees were standing behind the desk talking with waiters and other staff members. Only one waitress/employee walked by and acknowledged us and looked concerned, but she was to busy with her tables to come seat or help us. This was on a Saturday afternoon at around 4:45 PM. Not very busy. We have been eating at this particular mayflower for years and have been noticing it going down hill over the last couple of years. Will be driving to Burlington location from now on.

Our party of 4 was in town for the weekend and searched for a local seafood place. The menu looked great and the prices looked reasonable. The service, food and portions were exceptional. I could tell they take pride, the presentation, taste and quality of the food went far beyond many other restaurants. Highly recommended.

I'm from a seafood state and the food here is definitely subpar. Not seasoned. "Jumbo Shrimp" served in a mini foam bowl nothing jumbo about it at all. They give you a salad with a pack of crackers because they don't have croutons. Pink lemonade was weak I asked to have it mixed with Sprite I was told we cannot do that, but the waiter refilled my daughter's cup of lemonade with another cup from out the back not even a pitcher. Be ware of places that serve you two pieces of fish on top of bed of "french fries". You've been warned😎👍🏾

It's all in what you're looking for sometimes. This particular day, I was looking for the old style fried baby shrimp plate with french fries and hush puppies. In my opinion, that's what these guys do! I don't even know what their other dishes are like because I only go for that good ole staple. It's like comfort seafood and they did it well.

I could smell the old grease as soon as I opened the bag the shrimp was darker then usual taste like either they were dipped in the grease to reheat or the oil was old &/or burnt truly tasted like all 3 made my stomach hurt…my friend said his flounder taste more burnt then his shrimp & his shrimp was greasy called to let them know…the person replied that they been cooking w/ that grease all day & I couldn’t argue w/ that you could tell I really had called so they can be aware a customer recognized game…$38 in the trash it went smh

Note that picture is after I already ate part of it. The portions are larger than shown. The food was heartbreakingly good. The hushpuppies were to die for and the bacon cheese fries appetizer looked like a delicious piece of art. My shrimp and tilapia were also excellent. Beware as everything looks good and the portions are sizable. I will most certainly be back!

It was our first time. The service was great. The oil was clean our food was fried well. If they can make my 85yr old grandma happy, then they are clearly doing something right. Our waiter was super nice and funny!

I give this place 3 stars, only because of the service and the hushpuppies. The food was hot 🔥, but tasteless. Even the tarter sauce was tasteless. The cold slaw was chopped up too fine and was also tasteless. My tea 🍵 tasted weird with a strange after taste, so I ordered a soda instead. It wasn't the best, but it was better than the tea. I got the shrimp and baked potato and my friends got the catfish and fried okra, also No flavor 😒 😐 😑 whatsoever. Food was very disappointing, but the service was excellent.

The flounder tasted as though the oil was old. I threw it out. The shrimp was extremely tiny, but fine. Hushpuppies were good. Fries were so-so and obviously frozen.

I really enjoyed going here. Service was friendly. Our server Sam and the rest of the staff were a delight. They serve primarily seafood. I had a hamburger and fries. They do serve coffee. My recall is they are a Coke establishment; however, I had a water and lemon.

I stopped going to Mayflower years ago and thought I'd give it one more try. .The food is still just okay and the portion have gotten much smaller...my appetite has not increased so I shouldn't have been able to eat a 3 combination plate in one sitting...guess I'm out for another few years...Just not worth my money!

Ordered the Captain Smith’s Combo. Everything was amazing, from the crab stuffing, fish, and scallops, except the shrimp, i felt like the shrimps were just batter with oil. More towards taking like soaked oil. But everything else that had meat was very good!

Love eating here. Been doing it for years. Moved to Raleigh recently and when we come visit Durham we have to make a trip here.

The food is always amazing! I absolutely love their broiled seafood. We tried the blooming onion and it was perfect. My mom and I stop in any time we are in Durham. Service is very prompt.

Food was delicious but place could use a makeover. Staff seems to be overwhelmed but they get alot of business so that is good. Parking isn't good but it's still a nice spot for a quiet dinner.

The oysters were good. Everything else was below average.

My spouse really likes this place, me ahhh it's ok. I had my food broiled and they put it on a paper plate. So needless to says it soaked thru the plate and box. It was also bland. I ordered the oyster soup 😶😬. I was beyond upset. It tasted like hot watered down milk and it came with 2 oysters...that's it, nothing else. I was not expecting that at all. BUT the place gets packed at times SO other people do enjoy the food.

Good portion sizes and great service. The food was okay but not amazing: I would probably try the fried seafood instead of broiled if I come back.
