I’m Asian and would consider myself a sushi connoisseur, this tastes just as bad as the prepared sushi at the grocery stores. It definitely had potential if the rice wasn’t over cooked or swollen from being made with too much water. That’s how Asians prepare food for babies by adding extra water. That’s ridiculous I paid $36 for this tiny plate of sushi I could not even eat. The second photo is a close-up of how translucent the rice is! I’ve finally had a taste of the worst sushi ever. These reviews are lies or people who don’t know what sushi is supposed to taste like. I was misled.

For Durham (especially around Duke) I think it's pretty good food and a great deal (BOGO on sushi rolls). My ranking of rolls so far: Great: * Mango tango roll * Fusion roll (crunchy, warm) * Insane eel (just overall solid) * Lobster (hot, little spicy) * Sweet dragon * Acapulco (good, nice kick) * Sunrise lava (pretty spicy mayo sauce, maybe too much sauce but good overall) (spiciest) * Red dragon (nice tuna, really tasty overall) * Lobster lava (spicier version of lobster) Good: * Sunrise (very average) * Rainbow roll (good, but a little bland. Maybe ask to add spicy mayo or eel sauce) * Blue Devil roll (really good texture, little bland) * TNT roll * Dynamite * Samu * Philly roll * Caterpillar (soft) * Crunchy roll (dry, decent with soy sauce) * Fire roll (spice kicks in late (spiciest roll so far, decently spicy, too much mustard/sauces) * Sunset roll (nice tangy flavor, fake crab meat has a weird texture) * Maguro tartar * Spicy chic Bad: * Mango lobster (cream cheese overpowers the taste) * Black widow * Sneaky black spider * Oyster roll (not bad, not great) * Hawaii * Honey love (little too sweet) * Durham cares (mushy, very average) * Red Moon (way too much on the top, not a great taste) * Poseidon (too much of a fishy taste, bad aftertaste) * Momo (weird taste) * Champion (kind of bland, don’t like the wasabi taste)

We get takeout from here all the time. It’s usually really good and always safe to eat. Tonight however things were dangerously different. I found two pieces of broken pointy wood in my spicy chicken entrée. Please see the attached picture with a red circle for reference. I have never had a problem like this before and I am very disappointed in the quality control from this restaurant. Please check your food before eating it. I hope I didn’t eat any other pieces of wood.

Great sushi with a good atmosphere. I ordered a Thai tea, pork gyoza, fried rangoons and a specialty sushi roll. The food came out pretty quickly and was made fresh. The only complaint I would have was that it took me a while to be greeted by someone once I was sat. I would still be back to visit.

Pretty good sushi spot, they had half off your whole bill on Thursdays which was a really good deal. It's not the best sushi I've had but it was fresh and the rolls were tasty.

Half price deals with sushi are great. We were able to try twice as many options. Highly recommend trying this place if you're into sushi.

I ordered the Fire Roll & Victoria Secret Roll. The both were very delicious. The Victoria Secret was wrapped in Cucumber and tasted very nice. It was a nice balance between cucumber and fresh fish. I am a lover of fresh fish in my Sushi. I don't prefer air fry tempura style sushi. I could actually taste the fish in the roll. The flavors were very nice. I really enjoyed the fire roll. I love how much spice came on that road and I roll up the flavors that they use. If any of their other roles taste just as good are are as nicely balanced as these two oh, I will be back to try more. I've noticed. Some places are a hit or miss. I am glad that I tried this place for lunch today.

Was in town and craving sushi. Although the building itself is viable from the road you will have to snake behind all the construction and Marriott hotel to gain access to parking. The place itself has good atmosphere basic no thrills but clean. The service was ok the staff although super friendly weren’t very attentive and the dood delivery took quite a lot of time. In fact I waited almost 40 minutes for two sushi rolls. So if you’ve got the time go for it great food just be prepared to wait. Group favorites spicy tuna roll, the Nigiri smoked salmon, and the pad Thai. Cheers!!

I found the food to be delicious and they had a wide variety of Asian options such as Thai, Japanese, Mongolian and Chinese. Menu was big but the food did not disappoint. It was great and over 50 different sushi options. Definitely coming here again.

I used to come here years ago when it first opened. The half bottle wine special is a great deal. Sushi prices are reasonable. The grilled mussels and shrimp tempura were really good but my sushi was a bit bland and not as firm as I prefer. Will try again.

Huge selection, the menu is enormous and has a lot of choices beyond just sushi. Service was great, very friendly, attentive, and they checked on us regularly to fill drinks. Everything tasted delicious and was very reasonably priced; sushi rolls were buy one get one free. Would absolutely go back, definitely one of our new favorites in Durham.

First time here at Sushi Love with friends; must say this is one of the best sushi in town! Our server was very attentive and her recommendations were amazing! We had “Cheetos” Flaming Roll, Lobster Lava, and a Sunrise Lava Roll. They were one of the signature and most popular rolls. Will definitely come back soon!

I ordered shrimp hibachi platter. Shrimp🦐, zucchini and broccoli 🥦 we’re overcooked. But Sushi was delicious 🤤 I really enjoyed. It was my first time but I hope come back when I’m in the town.

I was not happy to walk in and see the waitresses laying down on the seats as I walked on. I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt so I sat down ordered shrimp/broccoli tempura, dumplings, 3 rolls and ice tea. I will be short, everything was bland no flavor.

The waitress was very courteous and attentive. The sushi was fresh and tasty. The orange beef was delightfully crunchy! It's been years since I've had it done properly. Would definitely recommend.

Really awful. Tried it twice out of desperation, but fundamental problems with freshness and preparation. Old frozen cucumbers, dried out rice, slimy dumplings. Yuck. My seven year old rejected dumplings, never a good sign.

We've been here many times before - I'm not sure if things are tending downhill or if this was an off night, but our sushi and sashimi last night were kind of pitiful. The fish on top of our rainbow roll was paper thin, and all of the fish was off-color and a little dried out. We usually enjoy the fish here, so we'll probably give it one more try and hope this was an anomaly. 🤞

One of my go to sushi spots, especially with their buy one get one deal - always know I’ll leave a meal at Sushi Love stuffed to capacity. For whatever reason the food in the restaurant is quite a bit better than when I get take out. I would give dine-in a 4.5/5 and take out perhaps a 3.5/5.

Walked in on Friday night around 8. Place was buzzing. The person standing in front of me waiting to be seated told me I needed to sign in to be seated. I stepped up to the hostess stand and asked if I needed to sign in, she looked at me as if I were from another planet. So, I said, “ I’m dining solo, can I sit at the sushi bar?” She grabbed a menu and we stepped over to the sushi bar which was taken up with dirty dishes and was completely filthy. She threw down the menu and I looked at her puzzled because she didn’t seem to care that the entire surface space was dirty. She grabbed a dirty plate, looked at me and rolled her eyes and walked away without a word. So, I left and took my business to Naan Stop, which was excellent.

Food was delicious as well as the cocktails! Our server was nice, but kept continuously sitting and laughing at her phone when we needed drinks refills was frustrating

Pho is not good, it doesn't come with scallion, lime, or cilantro. The broth tastes monotone and no vaireties on the beef selection, also the beef slices were too thick.

This is my first time ever ordering from Sushi Love. I ordered it through GrubHub and that process was fine, the food is where things went wrong for me. The first thing I ate from my order was the crab wonton and it was DELICIOUS, until I ate the second of the two. When I began chewing I felt something plastic-like crumpled up and pulled it out of my mouth. It was actually a piece of plastic that was IN the wonton. I was taken aback, spit out the rest of the food in my mouth, and threw it away. I no longer felt like continuing to eat the rest of the bento box or drinking the Thai iced tea I ordered because of that. Not to mention, there was sauce spilled all over the bag the to-go containers were in. I'm really bummed because everything looked and smelled good and the wontons were actually tasty. I do not see myself ordering from here again due to this experience. Hopefully people have had a better experience than I.

One of the best sushi places in Durham! The service is always quick and the waitresses are always very nice with really good recommendations. I had the hurricane roll recently and the presentation and taste was perfect !

Wow wow wow!! I ordered a miso soup as well and it was piping hot which I love! Don’t bring me no cold soup lol. First off the Lobster Lava Roll is fantastic! Loved the baby Octopus Nigri rolls. The Imari seafood roll ( my second favorite! Love the sweetness added to it from the brown wrap) is also really good as well as the spicy salmon roll. The baked green muscles were ehh I wouldn’t order again I didn’t like the white sauce on it and the slice the muscle meat on the shell. I’m not going to lie I’ll probably go back this weekend 😅

We got a large variety of sushi rolls and they were all delicious. I would especially recommend the Sunrise.

I’ll be trying to taste almost everything on their menu this semester. So far, the coconut chicken soup is good but I have had better. It also had very little chicken and mushrooms. The Pad See Eew is sooo delicious though. Great proportion of noodle, vegetables, and chicken. Dumplings are probably my favorite. I get the pork pan fried ones but the green veggie ones are good too.

The sushi was delicious! The menu was expensive and offered lots of variety beyond sushi/sashimi. Their specially roll selection is amazing, lots of classic combinations you're probably used to seeing at most places offering sushi, but there were lots of really unique options too. I had the honey love roll, which was BANGIN'! I had never had kiwi on sushi before and wasn't sure how I'd feel about it, but I'm so glad I gave it a try. This place became an immediate favorite for me and my husband. We will definitely be back and I highly recommend that you check it out.

Sushi Love has a simple, elegant décor and the service is attentive and knowledgeable. The restaurant is not too expensive, but it is worth noting that some of the rolls lacked flavor. However, the by one get one free roll special they have on certain days makes it incredibly attractivr to dine there. Here are some of the pros and cons of Sushi Love: Pros: High-quality sushi plating Not overpriced Relaxed atmosphere Attentive service Cons: Some rolls lack flavor/ were bland Reservations can be difficult to get Overall, Sushi Love is a great option for those looking for a laid back Japenese dining experience. The food is great, the service is top-notch, and the atmosphere is elegant.

As a sushi enthusiast, I was quite impressed with the food here. it’s certainly not the fanciest sushi restaurant you’ll ever see, but for the affordable price you pay with their promotions and the quality of food it is very much worth it. We got a chicken hibachi and four sushi rolls to share between two, and it was very filling for around $50. Would recommend
