Very disappointing. Don't waste your money. This used to be a nice restaurant with traditional Chinese dishes that were flavorful and tasty. It had a rustic charm with mom and pop style restaurant atmosphere. Not any more. They reduced the dishes to a bare minimum quality. The dishes are bland with not even any salt in them. Very little meat in the dishes and is filled with shredded carrots and cabbage. Special fried rice is lumps of oily rice with just a few scattered chicken pieces and nothing else. Nothing special about it. Very bad food indeed. Also, became very pricey. Instead, they have gone all electronic and upmarket. This is the last time they get my business.

You’ve got to try the Sesame Chicken. Everyone who loves Chinese cuisine makes this a regular stop.

We usually go here every couple of months. The food here is great. Definitely better than the typically quick takeout Chinese places. Service is fast, friendly, and they take requests if you would like your food spicier or slight changes.

We ordered three lunch entrees which we’re supposed to include our choice of egg rolls. We did substitute the fried rice for steamed rice. None of the entrees were over $8. The woman on the phone said the egg rolls were extra - first additional charge. Okay, maybe $3 each max. When my daughter went to pick up what should have been less than $35, the woman charged her $53!!!! We hadn’t planned on having over $17 a person lunch!!! My daughter questioned her and she said that was right. Of course NO RECEIPT!! We won’t be eating there again. ☹️😡

Really good food. Hot & sour soup and egg drop soup were both great. Egg roll and spring roll were delicious. Beef and broccoli and double delight Kung pao were marvelous. We both have leftovers enough for another meal.

Best Chinese food around. Been a customer for decades. Try the spicy dry bean curd with shredded pork.

I like China Palace a lot. My favorite dish is Chinese Broccoli with Garlic. Delicious. It consists of the broccoli greens and stems. No florets in this dish. The flavor is wonderful. Ginger and garlic. I don’t like the Spring Roll … not that much to it … very small with not much filling. They are $2.75, but as small as they are, a more fair price would $1.00 or $1.25. If you’ve never tried China Palace, I recommend you do.

China Palace has been so good lately and I may have just had one of my favorite meals ever at a Chinese restaurant: Chinese broccoli with garlic sauce, beef with chili peppers, wide rice noodles with chicken. Seriously go get it, this isn't Americanized though they offer that type of food too. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. I've lived near this restaurant for a long time and it gets better and better. My current fave in the area.

The spring rolls and 2 entrees were delicious. The house fried rice however, was flavorless and didn't have much else in it other than rice, very little protein.

Nothing goes together better than Christmas and Chinese food! And China Palace is the place you want to be on Christmas night. The restaurant was busy but not unmanageable. We were seated right away and got our food within 10 minutes of ordering. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. The service was extremely welcoming and nice! Would definitely recommend China Palace. Will be back for non Christmas occasions in the future!

First time take-out customer using online ordering. Food was ready ontime as per the online order submission. Food was hot and packaged ready for me to take. I tried the China Palace bases on a friend's recommendation. Fried rice, spring roll, vegetable lo mein and chicken chow mein was very good. Comparable to Chinese restaurants ib the NYCity areas. It's definitely worth trying for yourself.

This place has been my favorite Chinese food restaurant in Durham since I've lived here. The original owners retired and the new owners who took over have mostly kept the menu the same, and even though I miss a few menu items, the rest of the menu is still absolutely delicious, and they've kept the same recipes/methods. Family visiting from out of town looks forward to eating here. Love, love, love this Durham gem and absolutely recommend it.

We ordered lunch plates, but were told our egg rolls were going to cost extra, but menu says they are included in a lunch plate! Order one of our dishes spicy, but it was not at all! Worst part was they charged us DOUBLE what it should have coast, but the person picking up our order didn't know price, so she paid it. This place will rip you off big time if they can! Food is not as good as it used to be either! We will never go back! So sad that a great place is now so bad and dishonest!!! 😡

Call me old I don't care. But this is one of the high lights of my time in Durham as a student. We have since lived in NYC, LA, DC and have been to many excellent Chinese restaurants, but one that truly serves authentic comfort food that in a relaxed low key setting, it truly is second to none. Every time we come across Durham we try to make a stop for it (including 50% pct of time when it is not even operating hours😭). Its like homecoming each time. This time we came in on a snowy Friday night and NO one else is dining there. It is so nice and peaceful. People are missing out on this place. In a world full of buffet chains and seemingly standard take out Chinese, or fancy exotic new school of fusion Chinese, this one is a throw back and remains hidden gem, and feels being drown out. Still operated by the same family for nearly 30years, I am very worried it may just one day decide to hang all up, leaving only great memories behind. It would be a shame. P.s. we came back to it next afternoon on our trip back home trying to get another meal out of it before skipping town, and like so many times, it was closed😫😫😫. We will be back.

Simply the best available Chinese option in the area. I spent a couple of years in Beijing and learned what the eight cuisines of China were supposed to taste like. Upon my return, China Palace was the closest to authentic. We now go only here for Chinese dishes.

My absolute favorite Chinese restaurant!!! I get the sesame beef and the Kung Pao chicken with fried dumplings. I've tried plenty of other restaurants all over the US, but Chinese Palace can't be beat.

Everything is delicious. Tofu dishes are my favorite, and I'm not even a vegetarian.

Ridiculously expensive. Well over 30 dollars for 2 people. I asked for no broccoli and I recieved more broccoli than I ever have in any dish. It was almost half the container. The rice was very dry

Got lunch for 3 to go, they had the order ready in 15 minutes. The best Chinese take out - by far - that I have ever had. Amazing. Sesame Chicken was out of this world, particularly the sauce. Wide rice noodles with Beef and House Special Fried Rice were fantastic. Egg Rolls were nice and crispy, fried dumplings were solid. Really, really good meal. Do yourself a favor and put this on your short list. We will be back.

What a terrible meal! The sweet and sour chicken was tasteless, not sweet or sour. There were some fresh pieces mixed in with old pieces. The dumplings were terrible. They were mostly dough with a tiny ball of meat on the inside. As for the sauces, the tiny cups were only filled halfway. The spring rolls were decent and the rice was decent as well. The egg fu yung was smothered in gravy that should have been on the side. It was also tasteless. Everything seemed like it was half-seasoned. This is one place we will never order from again.

I was extremely disappointed in my food and the cost today. 80$ meal that was not appetizing. The general Chings chicken had absolutely no taste. Tasted like dry fried chicken. Beef and broccoli was 90% broccoli. The only thing I was able to eat was the soup I got it. What a terrible dinner. 😐

I'm from the DC area and so far this is one of the only restaurants that really hits the spot and reminds me of home. The 香干肉丝 is as good as it gets and the fried rice hits the spot for when I'm craving some classic American Chinese food!

Originally from Guangdong, I would say they have authentic Cantonese roast duck! Xihu Duck is delicious too. Sometimes we pre-order Chiyouji豉油鸡, which is my favorite🍗
