Walked the primitive through the woods trail. Great workout. Super views. We’ve had lots of rain so the river is really high.

Even than the water looks dirty haha is a good place to swimming and that reason is because is not deep. There are turtles and fish. The parking is good and you have to walk around 1 km. I went at 4:00 and it wasn’t crowded. Take care with the rocks. It’s pet friendly.

Beautiful trails, easy parking and wide open fields. Love that it’s close to so much but still feels secluded in nature. A great park for small children and easy trails for walking.

As a school, our 2nd graders were taught by several Schoolhouse of Wonder instructors. The point of zero modern conveniences was well made. It was a valuable trip for our kids.

I walked through here and enjoyed the scenery. I miss the previous look, but the trails are nice and challenging for people and dog walkers. You will see dogs and owners in the water playing and having fun. There are poop bags available and all dogs should remain on a leash. There is a map available to see in the parking lot and port a potties to use. The mill is open to see. There is water all around to swim in. Picnic tables and much more to enjoy and see.

Great time in the water. Crowded but still a lot of fun. We didn't really do anything else besides play in the water.

Great 'urban' hiking oasis. The historical structures, numerous trails and Eno river swimming hole make it an ideal getaway for an afternoon.

Visited on a field trip. Beautiful area. The guides were very nice and educated about the property. My daughter had a great time and even got to make a corn husk doll to take home! I would definitely recommend.

Fantastic park with great wide trails by the river to walk through. Large rocks in the river you can sit on. Some people were swimming and there was a small fall. There's a neat swinging bridge. Very nice park!!

25 min hike to the swimming hole. Park in the 2nd lot. And head towards the mill. Path on the left brings you to the dam. Trail is on the left. Follow till it comes to a valley and a bench you are 1/3 of the way. Keep going it eventually turns to the the left at a little Vista with another bench trail bends to the left you are 2/3s there. Follow trail and it decends to the stream and comes to a narrow stream bed. You cross the stream and are 2 min from the swimming hole. Follow the path and you come to a beautiful swimming hole. There are snakes. Be on the lookout, we have seen three but they didn't pose a problem. Also path opens and there's a lot of rocks approaching the water. Careful they are slippery. However, once in the water is beautiful and refreshing and when you get to the inlet it has a sandy bottom. Some people fish here and we found a hook once so water shoes or sandles are a must. Fantastic spot though.

I love visiting this park. I enjoy getting to see the old grist mill, and I love that it is being preserved. There are also beautiful views of the Eno River. The old house is beautiful as well.

Beautiful area for swimming, kayaking, and exploring! We parked and had an easy walk to a dock right on top of the water fall. From there, one mile kayak trip to explore all the little islands in the middle of Eno river. We ended up spending hours exploring and had a blast. One of the highlights of Eno overall.

This was a very beautiful place. The perfect place to just go clear your head at that. O took a little walk and really enjoyed it. There were a bunch of families enjoying the scene as well. The only thing I did not like was the weed smokers there, I instantly felt sick to my stomach. That day it was about 80 degrees so the smell was super strong. Other than that this is a great place to hang out at and collect your thoughts.

It was pretty cool. I was trying to do the Eagle Trail, which is on the other side of the eno, and the signage was not helpful at all. I ended up going back to my car and driving to the north lot, which was also poorly marked when i started hiking. It was a pretty walk, though.

My dogs love their walks there. We usually take the trail towards the amphitheater since it's almost always without any foot traffic and take a rest by the creek. My boys like to lay down and cool off there for about an hour before walking again. Beautiful place. If only people can see it like that and will pick up their trash as they leave.

Whats not to love? A large wooded park along a remarkably clean river, with picnic spots, and operational water-powered mill, easy parking and access, sunny meadows and shaded forest spots... its a perfect outdoor getaway. Mountains-to-Sea trail passes thru, so there are trails you can hike almost forever both up and down stream. And, every year on the 4th of July they have the Festival for the Eno that raises money for land preservation. So much good music and crafts and food and education!

This is not a tourist attraction, but if you're a local and it's your thing then this will be a great spot.

Very nice park! The water was very brown and hard to see past your shoulders in. It was also really deep (that was most likely because it was raining the past few days) I do suggest bringing life jackets to it because the most popular swimming area is near a dam. An object did pass our group's legs 3 times, one of the times was my leg. I couldn't see it so I couldn't tell what it was. It was really pretty though and the hikes were very nice. In the water there was a stick you could stand on and rock you could sit on. I think you should go here but be careful in the water!

I loved the nice scenic walk on the trails to get to Sennett's Hole and it isn't too long!

This is a great place to visit not only for the outdoor areas, but for the museum and history center as well! They have amazing events, such as the one I just went to- a seance event! It focused on the history of seances, and how they were performed in the Victorian era. The price was EXTREMELY reasonable at about $4/each, and made for some spooky October fun with a touch of history!

Had fun! Decent walk back to the river. Lots of sun, trails, and water. Beautiful site once you get to the back. Will go again!

What a beautiful place to take a hike. It is close enough to Durham to add it to your trip to town for a short walk or stay all day and discover all the cool trails. The Mountain laurel is blooming so make sure you hit that trail along the river. We spotted many native plants, pyeweed, wild ginger along with the laurel so don't forget to look down once in a while. The trail to the dam is fun but can be hazardous for a new hiker!

This is our favorite outdoor spot in Durham to hang with the kids. There's a great old working mill (they even have fresh milled corn grits, pre-covid at least). We keep coming back to West Point. The lower river below the man-made damn (for the grist mill) is a shallow low flow area the kids always love to play in the water and look for animals. The upper above the damn is a nice swimming hole that gets busy on hot summer days. The lawn by the river is great as well for picnics, and the trails along the river are beautiful and we'll maintained. We have joined all over the Enjoy and this is Alcott always our starting shoot. It's 15 min from our home so that's partly why I suppose. I'm always surprised there aren't more people. There's a great festival every July 4th by the Eno River association that's a not to miss event. And we even had lots of fun when the river iced over one winter (it happens, but not often... See pics)

We parked at West Point on the Eno and hiked to Turtle Hole. Going during the week was great as there no crowds. The swimming hole is large and there a ton of fish that like to nibble on your toes! We saw a handful of turtles as well. The water is quite clear and it was fun to catch a ride in the current.

Went with a few friends today and took a young man a friend is mentoring. He had a great time and once we taught him a few rules about fishing with a reel, he was a pro and caught planty of fish... Looking forward to our next outing with the fellows...👍😎👍😎👍😎👍😎👍!!!

The fireflies are out, and it's the perfect time for a dip in the cool water on a warm summer evening. Lovely to walk around the trails in peace and solitude. Make the most of out of the longer days ahead.

This place is beautiful, but the signage is hard to follow. We had to ask several people for help to get to the water. If you park where Google directs you, you have to go to the right. You will see another road. Cross that and stay to the right, then follow the music. Bring water shoes! The rocks hurt! And bug spray! We saw a few harmless snakes in the water. Just an FYI. Also the bathrooms are port a potties. Come wearing your bathing.

Great park. Able to paddle around if you want! Nice, marked trails. Busy in summer, but Oct-March you may have a trail to yourself. Nice escape just minutes from downtown Durham.

  • 5/5 Ted Q. 2 years ago on Google
Always enjoy visiting this park. Went on a weekday so it wasn't crowded at all. Some of the trail markers need to be refreshed but it was easy enough to follow.

  • 5/5 Mugdha P. 5 years ago on Google
Great trails and lovely views! We got a little lost trying to find the swim hole, but we just jumped into the water near the dam. There are "steps" where you can get into the water. It's relatively branch, moss and insect free. The water is clean and pretty warm between May and August. Even though the dam is nearby, there's not a strong current and it's completely safe to swim!

I go hiking here almost once a week and during the weekdays it's very peaceful and beautiful theres alot of trails and I tend to frequent the eagle trail and sit on the rocks at sennetts hole

I love this park! It has a nice walking trail that surrounds the entire park. There are cabins and structures that appear to be from the 1800s. I’m not too sure about the history of the mills and cabins but it’s beautiful. Great place for a nice walk

It's such a cool place to get in touch with nature. it has a couple of hidden spots where you can hang out with some friends or just have some down time with yourself, some small trails for some exploring, and the river is gorgeous to either dip your feet in or go for a swim.
