Saturday mid-morning, Elmo's is a popular place. Wait was only 15 minutes, and once seated, waitress was right there to get a drink order while we perused the menu. Started with s slice of their pumpkin-apple bread, warm and truly the taste of the season. I ordered the baked french toast with hot apple cinnamon and whipped creme topping, scrambled eggs and bacon. My companion had the California Omelette with avocado, bacon and cheddar cheese instead of the jack cheese, hash browns and a biscuit. Cooked to order, very filling and exceptionally yummy. When in Durham, this is a must!

This place was just awesome. From the food to the service everything was spectacular. The servers were very helpful both making food and town recommendations. The food was tasty and filling. This place is also priced adequately, so what more could you need to pay them a visit?

Just a bit expensive, but the food and service is great. The tables in the outdoor room are great since it almost feels like youโ€™re outside! ๐Ÿ˜€

The menu has a great variety of tasty foods. The service was really good, everything was homemade, the dishes presentations were beautiful, prices were very accessible, the whole place is clean and quiet. I would definitely come back.

While traveling to Georgia we stopped at Elmo's Diner for breakfast. The atmosphere is cozy and warm making you feel right at home. The staff is very friendly and engaging. Our breakfasts were hot, fresh and made to order. The coffee was excellent! We will definitely be back if we are in the area.

A gem of a place, very friendly staff, a nice atmosphere, and tasty food. Be aware that the portion sizes are huge! Refillable tea/coffee is also nice.

Good classic diner food. Shockingly FAST service for how busy it was when I went. They clearly run a tight ship.

I am absolutely amazed that this place can be packed but a table of two was able to sit in 15 minutes. Everything moves fast year, but you never feel rushed to finish your meal. I had a breakfast plate with eggs, grits, turkey sausage, gravy and a biscuit.

Me and my hubby were at IHOP today but they were a little understaffed, so while waiting we decided to leave and see what was close and Elmo's Diner popped up and we went. They were staffed properly and we were seated quickly and the food was quick and it was delicious. I'm quite sure we will be back but we are going on a Saturday so we can try the shrimp and grits. The price was fantastic because paying for good food isn't a problem but when the meal is at an unexpectedly fantastic price we should let the people know. Grits, eggs, salmon, biscuit and cantaloupe and a price of $10.95 and my hubby had the Omelet with grits and a biscuit for $10.25. P.S. The coffee is good too for all you coffee drinkers! And please leave a good tip because they do deserve it. No more IHOP for a very long time!

So very sorry no pictures of the menu.. it is what you would expect from a top tier diner. They have it all. We were a large group (9) for lunch, they were quick to find a place for us, food was served hot and fast. We all got so many different things and everyone enjoyed it! This is a Durham icon and a positive part of the amazing city of Durham.

The meal was delicious and the staff was very accommodating. My first order of Pancakes arrived cold and they were very quick to replace it returning in only a few minutes with hot ones. I was very pleased with the service, friendliness and style of the restaurant!

The food was incredible with a reasonable price to go with it. The wait staff took great care of us and I couldn't be more satisfied. Definitely grab some breakfast here! There's one large TV to watch a game and there is plenty of different seating options.

Our first time at Elmoโ€™s and didnโ€™t disappoint. The place was packed on a Thursday afternoon but our wait time was 2min and food came in less than five. Our favorites were onion rings. Fries can use a bit more seasoning for our palates. Waffle was hearty and I loved the blueberry compote.

S'mores pancakes. Need I say more? The food is very delicious. The iced tea is okay though.

Great place for breakfast lunch. Very reasonable prices and a lot of vegetarian options which we really appreciated. They have mimosas for under $7 and a selection of beers. Did was very fresh and flavorfull. Has a lot of authentic Mexican breakfast items which is a nice change from the regular breakfast food you see in most diners

The food here was very good! My mom had the Santa Fe special which was delicious! My waffle was blueberry compote was really good as well along with a Mexican omlete. I say this place is a must try! On a side note it seemed the restaurant was a bit short staffed so it took a little bit to place an order but the server was very friendly and accommodating!

Great place for breakfast! Service was quick, food was great, and coffee was delicious. We ordered the create your own omelettes and my sister ordered their Santa Fe breakfast bowl and loved it. If the parking lot is full don't be discouraged. The place has plenty of seating and got us right in.

Great local diner for all sorts of breakfast, brunch, and lunch! The omelettes are great and the biscuits are phenomenal. The service is also very friendly and outstanding! Would definitely recommend this place to anyone as thereโ€™s a large variety of options. It is very busy!

Howdy guys! While in the area, we were craving breakfast and decided to give this place a try. Firstly, let me say this place is the truth with moving folks in and out! We were told it would be a 15-25 min wait, we probably waited all of 10 mins thatโ€™s a plus!!!! Secondly the vibe/atmosphere here is great, staffing very friendly and knowledgeable. Only reason for the two star deduction, my salmon patties were fried a little hard and very bland. In addition, my home fries were also fried very hard. Long story short, Iโ€™d give this place another shot. probably not around rush hour, but for sure worth another visit. Now let me no what you think, JUST GO &. GIVE THEM A SHOT! Thank me later โœŒ๐Ÿฝ

...Not what I expected or remembered. It was just okay. I chose the salmon cakes and they were extremely fishy tasting. And I love salmon. The eggs Florentine, the sauce tasted like powdered cheese. It was extremely grainy. Biscuits were dry. Still enjoy the Durham atmosphere.

My husband and I went here early on a Saturday morning. We were struck by the very classic diner atmosphere. We both enjoyed our meals, they were both very standard diner fare. The servings were generous but not too much food. I had the shrimp and grits and my husband had the corned beef hash. They were both very good. It was classic diner style, not heavily seasoned but just what you would expect from a diner. We both had the special pumpkin apple bread which we requested toasted. I highly recommend this! Service was good and it was at a very busy time and they looked to be short-staffed so they were doing the best that they could with the staff that they had.

Always busy on the weekend but they do a good job of keeping the flow going. Good diner food.

Great hometown place. Consistently good service and good food. We like the breakfast all day. The Orange French Toast was delicious, and included a fun little snowman in the whipped cream today. Have had lots of lunch and dinner items in past visits and all have been good, too.

Ok so almost everyone knows Elmoโ€™s l so Iโ€™ll just say that when we moved from Cary to Chapel Hill we did an fun & extensive search for a breakfast place we would call home (we eat breakfast out a lot). And we decided that Elmoโ€™s fit the bill for us and weโ€™ve never regretted the decision. Great food and great staff.

Came to Elmo's for a late breakfast/early lunch on a Friday morning. Even for a weekday at this time, it was still pretty busy but we were able to get seated immediately. This is a typical diner that serves both breakfast and lunch all day. The service is friendly, it has quite a big menu (breakfast stuff, burgers, sandwiches, and salads), and it's very cheap. I ordered the Santa Fe Breakfast bowl which was both filling and delicious. It has a base of crispy corn bread and sweet potatoes and then has avocado, black beans, and I added sausage. Great diner to check out when you're in Chapel Hill.

The diner was so warm and inviting. It looks like something out of a Hallmark movie. The food was absolutely delicious. Even my one year old cleaned her plate. You can tell the food is made fresh and with care. The waiter was super kind and did a great job serving us. We will definitely be returning again!

Being from N.E., we were excited to go here having heard so much about it. It was 11am on a Saturday. Had a 15 minute wait and it was SO worth it! Excellent service. Very good breakfast. I ordered the gravy and biscuits because, again, being from N.E. it's darn near impossible to get a decent plate of sausage gravy lol. The atmosphere is nice. A little tight on the seating but that's expected at a popular restaurant making the most of the spaces they have to work with. I've heard the waits to get a seat can be much longer and you know what? I'd GLADLY wait! KUDOS!
