A beautiful castle park. The castle can only be accessed separately (outside the park). Very well-kept park with wonderful trees. Little seating, but lots of shade

We were first at the actual castle. There are a few parking spaces there and you can look around the water and on the bridge to the inner courtyard. However, the inner courtyard is taboo and no entry is allowed. You couldn't get into the park from there, even though there is a large gate into the park. You have to drive around the area for about 10 minutes to get to the “Frog Pond” entrance. Parking €2, entrance fee €3. You can admire really great rhododendrons here and it is a large area. The only funny thing was that at some point we passed the gate in question, which was now open with no entry ;-)

We knew that the castle itself would be closed for public but we really were hoping to walk around in the park nearby. But it was a huge disappointment to see that the only entrance open is on the other side of the park. For people who have come their without car or bike that is a very long way to walk. I would really appreciate that both entrances are open so their is no confusion for the visitors.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful moated castle of the Graf Spee family on the border between Düsseldorf-Angermund and Duisburg-Rahm. There are also rented apartments in this castle. To the west of the actual castle begins a large park that extends to the frog pond, but cannot always be entered. The rhododendrons bloom very beautifully there in summer. In the eastern inner courtyard of the palace complex (outside the moat) there was a farmer's café, which unfortunately was abandoned some time ago. There was delicious cake there. Pity .... Schade ....

We passed here on a hike. Note: private property! Views of the castle, built in 1693, are of course permitted from the outside (up to the castle bridge). I can't say whether a visit inside is possible - but I suspect so! Very nice facility in very good condition. The castle moat is filled with impressively large fish 🐟 😃 The avenue that leads to the castle is also very beautiful. Behind the castle there is a larger forest park that you can visit. However, we didn't do that. That's why I can't comment on this. Nice to have seen it. 😊

(Translated by Google) Very well-kept castle complex with a great castle park. The spacious park invites you to dream, linger and contemplate. Different plantings with imposing solitary plants exist as well as extensive plantings of the same kind. The rhododendrons are a spectacle, especially during the flowering period. Beautiful natural park that is not heavily visited You can take a very leisurely walk here and even lie down here in the summer. However, you have to pay an entrance fee of €2. That's definitely fine for every now and then. Points are deducted for the fact that the park is called a castle park, but you can only see the castle in the distance and there is no access. A pity.

Very nice for walking, beautiful flowery forest in June. Unfortunately, there are no signs at all on how to orientate yourself, so only a few people can find the castle. It is also not possible to visit the castle, as it is closed from the forest. On the other side is another parking lot, close to the castle but you can't get out of there in the park.

After we had previously looked at Tiger & Turtle in Duisburg, we wanted to take a detour to Heltorf Castle. We let the navigation system guide us and it became more and more adventurous. Every now and then there was a road that, strictly speaking, we shouldn't have been able to drive on. Once there there was no way to park the car. It only worked a little further away at a small chapel. However, there was no opportunity to see the castle from a different perspective. The park should only be accessible from the frog pond until 6 p.m. We then tried to find this place, but without success! On the surrounding paths you had the feeling that "inhabited areas" were rare there, everything was just agricultural land. Maybe we'll make another attempt to find this frog pond at some point.

(Translated by Google) Shielded and partitioned off. No information possible, just a reference that you can visit this on the weekend. As the day of the visit fell on a weekend including a holiday, the doors and gates were locked. Many a visitor found a way in but couldn't find it out. Some were trapped inside and didn't know what to do because no one was willing to help. I am aware of how exhausting it can be to live in such an environment, but one should not then call such a site a historic site.

(Translated by Google) Huge, confusing, no bench to rest in, the castle is a large property, but since you can't even walk around it, it's very impersonal. Good for cyclists, but not for walkers / hikers. I was glad to have finally found the exit / entrance. The first and last visit.

(Translated by Google) The castle looks very interesting and also hides some things inside that unfortunately cannot be seen as family-owned and not open to the public. The frescoes in the manor house have to be really great and depict the Staufer emperor Babarossa in some of his life episodes. You can read the history of the castle via Wikipedia and Spee inherited it from Spee through marriage. His ancestors were the famous Vice-Imperial Admiral who died in the battle on the Scharnhorst and two of his sons on the Gneisenau. The castle garden is built in the English style like almost every city park, but impresses with a rare flora that only knowledgeable botanists can recognize. The large natural estate is also used for forestry. The highlight is the rhododendrons, these are the second oldest and Germany. There is no signage or seating such as benches. Therefore often quite sobering for many. So you don't have to go there. It is only recommended in May when the ancient rhododendrons bloom. Man muss dort also nicht hin.

(Translated by Google) Castle - Heltorf Despite the Corona crisis, you can see beautiful high-lights near Düsseldorf. It was 25 years ago that I was still living in Kaiserswerth. From there it was never far to Heltorf Castle. Most of the time we went there by bike and You could even harvest the strawberries and cherries on the large plantations for a fee. Unfortunately, this no longer exists today. Today the Counts of Spee only deal with their forestry. The castle and the park can be very well used with the S -Bahn reach from Düsseldorf and then get off in Angermund.it is worth to see this time.I am really looking forward to the next visit. l Today in the wonderful sunshine I made my way to Heltorf Castle, which is located between Duisburg-Rahm and Düsseldorf's Angermund district, on Heltorfer Schloßallee 100, about 30 minutes by car from Düsseldorf, when I arrived in front of the castle around noon , you can park directly in front of it, apparently there weren't too many visitors due to the corona situation. Previously there was the popular Schloß-Stübchen at the castle, but since 2018 this cafe has unfortunately been closed. Actually a real shame because if you walk through the 54 hectare park hiking / walking, you could enjoy delicious cakes and coffee there, so I went to the very natural park, which was designed in 1798 by the famous garden engineer Maximilian Friedrich Weyhe, where you can find wonderful exotic trees and with one of the oldest rhododentron occurrences in the world, it is a real relaxation to walk through this gem and the blossoming that has just begun to enjoy the splendor of the rhododentres. The castle dates from the 11th century, had its ups and downs and now belongs to the Counts of Spee.Today there are also the countesses of Spee-Forstbetriebe. May this park be preserved for a long time, because such parks like This is not very common. It is really unique in its kind. So, in the park, there you can enjoy the beautiful nature with the necessary requirements even during the Corona period.
