Went here for a work related Christmas meal, the food is fantastic but the service leaves a lot of room for improvement. There were only 3 tables including ours and the starters took around 40 minutes to arrive. After finishing our mains we decided to get the desserts to go because of the slow service. That being said the food was faultless but unfortunately due to the service I won’t be returning.

Having lived locally for nearly a year I finally decided to give The Red Lion a try. I wasn't disappointed! Saturday lunchtime, with no reservation, the greeting was a positive sign of things to come. I opted for a main course which arrived promptly and was delicious. Having enjoyed that I chose to follow up with the cheese board. Nothing negative to say at all. Great food, great service and absolutely fantastic coffee!

I recently dined at this pub with high hopes, but sadly, my experience fell far short of expectations. The pub looked inviting from the outside, and the menu seemed promising. However, several issues left a lot to be desired. First and foremost, the service was quite slow. We ordered our food at 7:50 PM, and it didn't arrive until 9:20 PM, without any indication of a delay or an explanation. The pub was not crowded, with only 12 other patrons, so this prolonged wait was quite baffling. What was particularly frustrating was the lack of an apology from the manager for the delay. Furthermore, when we brought up the concern about undercooked chicken the manager mentioned that it had been probed by the chef and then brushed aside any concerns we had. Additionally, during the long wait, we noticed that a person who appeared to be the manager's friend or acquaintance got served multiple plates of food before anyone else, which was rather disheartening and raised questions about fair service. When the food finally arrived, I ordered a buttermilk chicken burger. Unfortunately, the experience went further downhill from there. The bun was not toasted, making it fall apart after just a couple of bites. Additionally, the chips were unseasoned, lacking the flavor I expected from the menu description. In conclusion, it was a disappointing experience overall. Waiting for over an hour and a half for our food in an almost empty pub, along with the issues with the burger, the questionable response to undercooked chicken, and the unequal service, left me with a lack of trust in the kitchen's abilities and the management's commitment to customer satisfaction. I hope this review helps the pub improve its service, food quality, and fairness for future patrons.

Had a meal here on a Friday evening. Service was fairly slow however they were fairly busy and I prefer that to being rushed and out of a place in an hour. The food we had was great. It’s not often I go somewhere and love all three courses. I had pumpkin and sage ravioli for start which was very nice, Thai green curry for main which was fantastic - nice and spicy and lots of chopped chilli which is how I like it, and coffee and sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was delicious. Very light. My husband very much enjoyed his steak. Look forward to going back there again sometime.

Lunch on Thursday with two friends. Excellent. Not been before but had recommended to dear friends who stayed in September and they enjoyed. One chap doing all the service for so many tables and was brilliant. Highly recommend. Definitely visiting again 🙂

I was here on the same night as Ross Davies. I too had an appalling experience with the wait times, even though it was an absolute tumbleweed environment of an establishment. The lack of a cooked chicken thigh in my burger did worry me. The burger tasted nice though. The fries weren't season, however a dash of salt and black pepper did the trick. I've been to places that have a lower wait time with more people to serve, that had better tasting food AND had a more comforting price. I most likely won't be referring this place to anyone else.

We went for dinner and it was brilliant. Amelia was a fabulous waitress, really knows her stuff, great at the upsells too! Dog friendly. Would highly recommend. I had the beef brisket pie which appeared small however it was so packed with filling I was beyond full and it tasted gorgeous. If we loved nearer we'ed be regulars. Also really dog friendly with water bowls and treats.

Had a few not so great experiences here and were not going to go back but I’m glad we decided to try it again. Our last two trips have been great. The food is really good and staff friendly and helpful. There are nice places to sit here, either in the pub, the garden or the patio out the front. Good size car park and they often do a different menu if you sit in the garden. Definitely worth a visit.

The Red Lion was fantastic, the food and service were excellent and the rooms were well turned out and extremely comfortable. One tiny tiny issue that probably wouldn't bother most, is that some of the rooms have automatic lighting in the en suite bathrooms, which I am sure for most wouldn't be an issue but I do prefer to not have bright lights turning on when nature calls in the early hours! Would still thoroughly recommend!!
