A GREAT (all caps on purpose) bbq spot and a very pleasant surprise. I was only in Big Pine for a few days, but ended up eating here every day AND took some protein to go as I continued on to Lone Pine and Mount Whitney. Nothing more one could ask for — great food, great prices, and no surprise there was a bit of a line at the dinner hour. I sampled the pulled pork, steak tips, brisket, and chicken . . . all were exceptional. Wish I had remembered to take more photos of my food and the menu, but you can’t go wrong here!!

Found this little treasures years ago when it was just a food truck like place. Outstanding BBQ then and continues to produce great food. Staff is friendly and helpful. Quick service. Plenty of meat to choose from. Ribs, Brisket, and tri tip are my favorites. This stop I had the Tri tip meat plate with a side of green chili. Meat was smoked to perfection. I did dip an occasional piece in the sauce. Green Chilli was flavorful with a little heat. They used to have a vending machine that you could buy smoked meat from (they said it should bee here soon again). Definitely worth the stop when on Highway 395.

The tri-tip sandwich is fantastic! I ordered the tri-tip sandwich meal, which comes with a sandwich, two buns, a side, and a drink. I ordered Mac and cheese for my side. There is self service barbeque dispensers with spicy and regular. Both sauces are delicious, I prefer spicy though. Drinks are self service via a coke machine

Was last here in 2019 when on holidays from Australia. It was just a little shack back then. The food was as amazing then as it is now, the chicken was so tender and juicy, the pork ribs were so Smokey and flavourful and the tri tip was just delicious! A must stop when on the way through town!

Finest BBQ to have entered my mouth! We bought 2, 2 person platters, which fed 5 people with a little left over. The sides were noteworthy as well. If it is open when I’m traveling through I will stop again! Seating was a little cold due to fall night time temps and too much plastic is used for packaging.

Food is great, no kidding! Pork rib and tri tip are my go to. Before you coming to this place, here is my experience : 1. First come first. Find a place to seat by yourself and order the food from the counter. 2. Limited parking space next by the restaurant. You can park your vehicle cross the street. Be careful when you cross the street by foot. 3. I personally feel their beverage selection is not that great. Just FYI… 4. Very busy all the time. The only cons I have is the restaurant sits in a very remote area.

🔥 🐖 🐄 I'm spoiled when it comes to BBQ (I worked BBQ festivals for 11 years) and this place blew me away! First, you can smell the BBQ smoke wafting all the way down the road. Arriving there is parking and there is usually at least a small line. The line speaks for itself since this town is so tiny. When I pulled my sandwich open to add their homemade Spicy BBQ sauce I noticed that the inside of the buttery fluffy bun was toasted to protect some of the structure of the sandwich. The pulled pork I ordered was piled on which made me not regret the price. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Service was friendly and helpful. We ate "inside" and loved every second. For $50 we got 2 huge sandwiches, 2 beers, and potato salad. We'll be back.

Finally went by here when it wasn’t packed! We had the pulled pork sandwiches - Amazing and literally the best PP I’ve ever had. Also tried the tri tip. Great food, everything seems new/updated since the last time we were there.

Traveling though Big Pine on our way to Reno,Nv. We stumbled on to Copper Top BBQ. They had a good amount of people lined up so figured it must be good. It turn out to be really good and we shared a sampler plate and added all the side. We were pleasantly surprised.

We come from Europe so probably not the best judges on BBQ but those were the best ribs we ever tried. An overload of delicious meat, great bbq sauce and choice of beer. And pulled pork was also amazing. We didn’t plan a stop in Big Pine but so glad we did ☺️

We planned to stop here on our drive from San Diego to Seattle. The line started nearly 30 min before they opened. We had the sampler platter and their food was on point. Our favorite was the tri tip so we ended up getting 1lb to go in the vacuum sealed bag. Happy we made the effort to stop here.

It was ok. I had the chicken and macaroni. It does have more spices than what I usually have, which was different. They do have a sign asking to limit the amount of ice you get. Staff was friendly.

Absolutely must try out place if you are around the Mt. Whitney or Mammoth Lake area. The meet is superb and barbecued on the spot (see picture). I arrived before opening and just set outside, enjoying the beautiful view and the aromas coming from the grills. I ordered the burger (which takes 15 min to prepare, and they do not always have it) with coleslaw on the side 😋😋😋. Another option to order your food to go (they vacuum pack it!) so you can enjoy it once you arrive at your final destination. The crew is a group of extremely friendly youngsters.

Real delicious made with pride barbecue. The pitmaster kept close watch on his fire and smoke. The proof was in the tri-tip sandwich which was really delicious. Moist and juicy. Macaroni and cheese were very Uzi cheesy. Sweet rolls as in Hawaiian was surprising.

G’Day from Sydney, was passing through on a road-trip to Mammoth Mountain early this month and needed a driver break. Great place to have a meal, we tried the tri-tip sandwich and it was amazing. Would love to go back some day.

What a great find on our way to mammoth lakes after not seeing anywhere to eat for around 3 hours! We passed and saw the bbq's as we entered the town and immediately turned around to stop here for food. Copper Top was just opening as we arrived and the queue was immediately huge, good sign it's popular. We had the pulled pork with rolls, the tri tip with rolls, mac and cheese and the coleslaw. All the food was delicious, served promptly and the staff were very friendly. Definitely worth stopping for to fill our hungry bellies!
