This location is not all bad, but it most definitely needs better assistance with customer service and fixing situations. I will be cancelling my membership very soon due to the last and final straw of an incident that recently happened which could have been handled better. I joined because of the child care, an indoor track, and being able to exercise and bond with my teenage kids. Unfortunately, this last incident was a final straw for me and staying at the YMCA. I have found another gym that has the same amenities. Pros: Indoor track, pool, and child care Cons: Some staff is friendly vs. all of the staff; not as customer focused when issues arise; not all staff is trained or knowledgeable of their rules, policies, and procedures; snack machines are always broken so if you want a Gatorade, you better make sure to bring extra to drink

Truck was stolen and the staff was just like “oh yeah that’s been happening a lot,” well gee, thanks for the warning guys. Car theft is time sensitive so thankfully the y only took TWO DAYS to finally review the camera footage. The director said she needed time to review the footage, but when we finally sat down so she could show me, she hadn’t even looked at it. The director then showed me a video of me parking and was like “this it being driven away,” if she would’ve taken an extra 3 seconds, she would’ve seen me park. I had to physically take her phone and scroll through the footage myself while fending her off because she was arguing that I was not parking. Then I finally found the footage of my car being stolen. Thanks for the help guys. I don’t blame the ymca for my truck being stolen, but I do blame them for not caring about their members and essentially helping me when they felt like it. This gym has been going downhill for awhile but I keep trying to come every once in a while for “old times sake” Maybe sentiment is overrated

I joined the Y 11 years ago upon moving to Memphis. In addition I added two other health memberships at different health clubs. The Y really is all you need! If you have children you get discounts on things like swim lessons on top of access to children area. They provide some great classes for you to attend. Specifically while covid is brewing, the workout areas aren’t packed like other gyms. Some times when lifting I may have an entire area to myself. Some of the generation from the good ole days of the Cordova athletic club have switched and moved on which is nice! Overall, great place!

I have been a YMCA member for years and never really cared for it because of some of the racism ai have experienced. My kid was not allowed to swim simply because of prejudice lifeguards, he goes with me to swim all the time, it seems like as the shift changes so does the rules.

Childcare while you work out is great! Also, activities for the kids. My daughter recently had swim classes here but they also have kids exercise classes. So this is awesome! Tennis courts, basket ball courts, the pool. I should go more! Love this place, it really is way more than a gym. Thanks for including families in the activities.

YMCA in Cordova Positives: 1) The exercise equipment and free weight area are well equiped with a mixture of old and new equipment. 2) The staff are excellent, helpful, and friendly. 3) There is a good mixture of fitness classes. 4) The hours are very reasonable although not 24 hours. 5) The Personal Trainers are friendly and helpful. 6) The price is good for what you get. Negatives: 1) The exercise equipment pads where you sit or touch are wiped down and cleaned regularly, but there is dust on some of the machine plates, behind the machines, and around the floor pads in the free weight area. The place is clean but not as spotless as other gyms I've visited. 2) You can see rust on some of the older machines, but the machines still seem safe and functional. 3) The building is older but well maintained.

I’m getting real tired of this location. Every time I come here it’s always an issue. When you have to leave a gym just to go get something to drink due to the machines being unavailable and there’s always an issue with the pool. Why would I continue to pay for a membership when I cant utilize the damn facility? Definitely canceling my membership asap!

The pool entry door was locked. I asked the man behind the checkin counter when was the pool going to be open. He said, "No I don't". Then he refused to talk anymore. He didn't offer to find out what was going on or anything. All I got was silent treatment. Dont waste your time at this Y. I've also had my swim watch stolen and they just said tough luck. Piss poor attitude.

We just came to the ymca and one lady did not let us in because she said it was closed for training. But one of my other friends came in 5 minutes before us and were let in. I don’t know why they said this to us but we hope they discriminate again.

Y is a very good gym that offers a variety of classes at a variety of times, one advantage is that you can visit any YMCA throughout the states in which I have done so in some of my travels. I love Kim at Cordova she is a Tuff trainer that works you out well, try out her trekking class on Tuesday Mornings at 8:15 she will give you a workout that you will not regret, maybe your muscles will regret it, but you definitely will feel that one hour was worth it. The membership cost is higher than most gyms but the gym survives off its donations and has very good values that I respect and support thus is the reason I have continued my membership with the Y. My favorite locations are Cordova nuber (love Shane and helen) and fogelman (crazy about Dot insanity workouts). Always get a good workout at these locations with the trainers not to say the other locations aren't good but these location classes are more convenient for my schedule.

I really like the group fitness classes, especially Body Pump and Spin. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The only reason I didn’t it five stars is I don’t like the roof leaks.

So I have been going to this YMCA for a year now. They are very affordable and they also have a daycare if you need it so you can get your exercise. When you join you can go to any ymca in the United States. They have exercise classes and spin classes and a pool to work out in or to just have some fun.

Best workout experience with friendly staff and clientele. I'm always comfortable working out whether with a class or solo. If you have a question about the equipment or targeted area workouts the trainers and staff will ensure you have the info yo succeed.

The Y is practicing all the requirements the CDC, and the local health department has set in place. I can get in comfortably now, and workout. Since the pandemic there has not been alot of people at the YMCA.

This Y is a real jewel...it provides a multitude of healthy activities and social experiences for the communities located nearby. The staff members are very knowledgeable about the services they are responsible for and also they are quite personable.

Friendly and personable staff, always smiling and enjoy their jobs! Makes the biggest difference. Y Play staff are amazing with my son as well, I can workout guilt free thanks to them! The facility equipment and layout could use an upgrade. Some of the attachments are worn out, the flooring is slightly warped upstairs, and the mirror space is LACKING. I would also like more leg oriented equipment like a hack squat, dead lift platform, etc. I think a reorganization would do them well upstairs to maximize mirror and workout space. Despite my critiques, it's worth it to know I'm in a family oriented community and that my son is safe during my time there.

I have been a member of the Y for years. It is, by far, the best overall value when it comes to varied exercise and opportunities for fitness. Partly because it offers so much in the way of classes, swimming, strength training etc, but also because it’s available in so many locations . I work downtown, and swim laps at Fogelman and reside in Cordova and attend Zumba and Yoga classes at the Cordova Y three days a week. Recently, I was out of town on the East Coast and was able to exercise at the Y there. They are all over the country and welcoming everywhere. Aside from the financial value is the value of the down to earth, diverse community of people that I’ve met and become friends with through my classes there. I enjoy working out there because everyone is a regular person like me!

Great place for exercise since it's not a far walk from where I work, although it's a little disheartening that I'm not allowed to bring my mermaid tail for safety reasons, but I can understand that. Otherwise, I love the atmosphere!
