All about Karbandi monastery , Astonishing valley with vibrant coniferous trees are major specialty about this place this place, they can see four beautiful large statues i.e. Buddhist deities, Shakyamuni Buddha, Shubdrung Ngawang Namgyal and Guru Rinpoche. The Karbandi Monastery is a crucial centre between Phuentsholing and Jaigaon which is decked with bight prayer flags... You'll get Nature's Beauty And Peace✌

Bhutan is one of the best places I have visited so far. We stayed there for 5 days and it was sufficient time to visit major attractions. It is so serene. People truly follow Buddhism and we got to see this culture so closely it was wonderful. The monasteries are so beautiful. The landscape is too amazing. One perfect place to get recharged as it is so calm and so healthy with clean air and water. You can also visit this place for hiking, trekking, and relaxing.

Kharbandi Monastery about 5 km drive from Phuntsholing Town is mostly visited Lhakhang/Monastery in the town. The Monastery is located in a such space that onencan see whole Phuntsholing Town and the Jaigoan town below. The people prefer to visit it in auspicious days Fullmoon, Guru Rinpochhe and Buddha's Birth anniversaries and Parinirvana. It is called Duechen Nga Zom in Dzongkha-Bhutanese Language which means Five Auspicious Conciding Period in Buddha's life. (Duechen-Auspicious Period/Time, Nga-Five, Zom-Conciding). In this very day Buddha was conceived, born, defeated evil, got enlightenment and passed into Nirvana. Thus, it is most revered and meritful spiritual occasions in Buddhist Dharma. In this day one is believed to get the good merits for good deeds and one need to have a mindful mind with good intention. People fast and avoid meat atleast for a day. The month is also Saga Dawa in Bhutan which means Dry Meat Season. Meatless Month. But people keep in stock and dry for thier daily diet and for guest which has no good merits ofver this belief. Some even use nin-veg in rimdos which is not advisable and we must do away with such culture of meat. Today being the Lord Buddha's Parinirvana I also happen to visit it today for the first time on the way to Pasakha with my family and inlaws. There was a crowd of people mostly students and also senior citizens. It was drizzling day and overcast with the prayers inside the Monastery by Lamas and Monks. The devotees patiently in queue to prostrate infront of Lamas and Lord Buddha's Satues for wisdom and blessings. The students mostly prayers for their good performance and results in the exam even if they have not prepared well for the test or exam. This is something where our society have gone other way round. People think and pray that God help is direct in prostration and submission infront of God without practical input of mind and action. Poor mind we are to do all these. Its our action and preparedness that brings good results and fortunes not bad or good luck. People travel far and thousands miles to get blessings where we get it on the very place we stand anywhere if we are truly mindful and prayerful. However, in this most prayerful day, the triggering slides just near by caught my attention more than the God's blessings. The place looks quite risky and over the time as the slides has triggered in the South-western slopes and already a portion of the old Monastery building has been damaged as shown in the photos below. The area needs proper Geotechnical stability study sooner or later. The slide is just about 5 to 7 meters away from the main Monastery base foundation. The Thromde Authorities must look into the matter seriously for future safety of the Monastery building and the devotees who visits the site for prayers and don't look into safety aspects of the area. They are more blind into faith of God than the actual geology of the areas. This is what happened in one of the most visited temples in the world in Kedarnath, India few years back. Natural disasters are more powerful than the God's measures. Having said this, I don't mean to say there isn't any God's favor but one need to be more practical. The plan most have been already laid down as we can see some blue taurpolin/plastic to protect the rain from direct rain and some basewall below. The area looks sliding right from the International boundary wall about 100 meters below. Thus, taking up this protection Wall or knotbolt grouting would save this important structure before keeping full faith in the miracle 🙏. Most monasteries and Bhutanese temples are in such solitude place of advantageous beauty right from Paro Takshang -The Tigress Nest to some Cave Nyoes of Rangtsi in Haa but this one looks scary, if not now but in times to come. Visit and get blessings along with the breathtaking views of Phuntsholing and Jaigoan!

“BEAUTIFUL MONASTERY WITH WONDERFUL VIEWS” The most important landmark at Phuentsholing with a serene ambience, and a spacious courtyard. Perched on a hilltop with a spectacular view of the valley. The monastery houses several stupas, statues, prayer wheels, a debate hall, and holy relics. Draped in lush green garden, with traditional architecture and culture. This pilgrimage site is the best spot in Phuentsholing to embrace a spectacular sunset. Besides, this monastery bestows a peaceful environment and hence a great option to escape the hustle and bustle.

Visited Karbandi Monastery in 2016 with friends during a trip from West Bengal, and it left a lasting impression. The monastery is perched on a hill, offering a serene and peaceful vibe with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and Phuentsholing town below. The architecture is stunning, with vibrant colors and intricate details that reflect Bhutanese culture. The lush gardens and the statues of deities add to the spiritual ambiance, making it a perfect spot for meditation and reflection. The calm and peaceful atmosphere really makes you feel connected to nature and spirituality. A must-visit for anyone looking to experience the tranquil beauty of Bhutan!

Karbandi is one of the oldest Monasteries in Bhutan. Also known as Karbandi Goemba, it is situated 400 metres above an astonishing valley surrounded by coniferous trees. Built by Ashi Phuntsho Choedron, the Royal Grandmother n 1967It is a religious shrine believed to bless infertile couples with children. After an Indian pilgrim couple visited the place to pray for a child, their prayers were answered. It has a garden adorned with colourful prayer flags. The Karbandi Monastery also has four large statues of Buddhist deities, and apart from this, the Monastery offers a breathtaking view of Phuentsholing valley. Best time to visit the place is late afternoons - evenings as the sunset is mesmerising from the viewpoint.

When you think the end is near, you need to stop this(life) cycle then you must not visit here. Cause it's a high steep land where a view point is there, jumping from the edges may cause danger to the atmosphere. The place is too good to be true. The calmness adds something more to this celestial place. Be here to feel the entirety

Let's put it like this... It is the only place in Phuentsholing which will attract you with its sheer charm, great location and direct connection with visible proximity to magnificent landscape. Had this monastery been placed sans this location, I would have given only 1 star to my review. Structure of the monastery is nice surrounded by beautiful flower plants, but there is nothing extraordinary if you have been to such temples elsewhere. I must mention that my attempt to strike a conversation with the priest to know about various idols and paintwork on the walls from inside the sanctum of temple went too cold as the priest was either not aware or he didn't want to share. So, my whole spiritual angle to visit this place shifted to a better aesthetic angle. Entire area is placed centrally with high mountains, low valley with entire urban settlement, height gaining road and floating clouds around. It was so mesmerizing that it was almost impossible to keep one's eyes off. This is the kind of place where you would like to spend some private time to feel the interconnection of 5 elements inside you and outside. Now I know why we call it 'Mother Nature'.

A breathtaking scenery to take in. It's one of the most beautiful things you will see if you tour Phuntshilon. The lush greenery and the landscape below behind the canopy of leaves will be the perfect for anyone with a passion for photography. But don't miss out to absorb his magnificent beauty of nature and let that sink in...

It has one of the best views to look down at the entire valley. A must have photo opportunity. Also the Monastery is a work of art. People come there with lots of reverence. So avoid doing things which will cause noise or disturbance to the others. Otherwise people are very kind. Don't forget to get Peach Wine at the bottom of this road as you enter the main city. One of the best wines!
