I am sorry, but this is not a 5 star property. Where do I start. My wife and I were looking for a staycation. The property is right next to the bluffs and the leaves are turning. However, $300 a night for the 3rd floor guestroom with no fireplace or Jacuzzi tub. Only to be offered one of these rooms for an additional $100 is absurd. Our experience was not 5 star by any stretch of the imagination. Not to mention an additional $60 if we would like to check out at noon instead of 11. Not to mention there were plenty of rooms unoccupied. The breakfast was a piece of fruit, coffee and a danish, and an egg or yogurt. Also, a full-size bed, not even a queen. We have stayed all over the country and am very disappointed. Reached out to management with no response. Oh and my wife is a chocolate lover, picture to follow. No chocolate buffet and this is how are coffee was served in this 5 STAR property. Thought the powdered creamer was a nice touch.

After we were received so elegantly, it didn't take long for us to fall in love with the Beall Mansion. We enjoyed speaking with Jim and Sandy. Jim gave us a very informative tour and history of the mansion. We liked the self serve breakfast, felt like we were at home. Also, the chocolate bar was a delicious touch. We stayed in the 3rd floor suite and it was absolutely lovely. It was elegant but yet so comfortable. Our only regret was, because of our travel schedule, we couldn't stay longer.

My family and I did the hour tour and it was excellent. Jim was very knowledgeable not only of this mansion but the surrounding ones as well. This is a beautiful mansion and they have done great to preserve the history. Each individual piece was beautiful! I definitely recommend visiting here. It is way worth it.

Wanted to surprise my wife with a weekend trip and The Beall Mansion was a huge success! The house is incredible and the grounds were peaceful and beautiful. The town was also a delight with Duke's Donut shop, Tony's Steakhouse, and some great local coffee shops. The owners were a delight!

Our family and friends stayed in the Beall Mansion for our daughter's wedding. The mansion has some of the original furniture and the garden was a verdant setting for the wedding. Jim and Sandy brought together all the catering, garden, tent and seating details to create a beautiful event. The rooms have high ceilings and extremely comfortable triple feather beds with relaxing jet tubs in the bathrooms. The romantically decorated bridal suite is large and made a great location for some pre-wedding photos of the bride. Jim kept in communication with us throughout the planning of the wedding and during our stay, making sure we had all we needed. The Beall Mansion is a wonderful venue for a wedding. The setting is an elegant backdrop for the ceremony and dinner but also gives the wedding family/party a cozy place to rest and relax.

We spent two nights at the Beall Mansion and had a thoroughly enjoyable visit. The house is elegant and well maintained, and our room was comfortable and clean. The owners, Jim and Sandy, are very personable and helpful. We enjoyed learning about the history of the house and local area from them. They strictly follow COVID protocol, and we felt very safe there.

We only took a tour of the mansion, but everything about it was impressive, from the beauty and craftsmanship of the house, to the quality appointments of the rooms, to the encyclopedic knowledge of the history of the home and the area on the part of our host, Jim. We only found out about the Beall Mansion on the day we booked the tour, already had other lodging.

My husband and I stayed at the mansion in November for our local, honeymoon weekend. We loved our experience. We felt like we stepped into an episode of "Downton Abbey." We felt like a Lord and Lady walking through the mansion, exploring and delighting our senses with the grandeur, beauty, history and craftsmanship. Thank you Jim and Sandy for being a welcoming host and hostess. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson.

We needed a late check in and Jim (our Inn-Keeper) was there to accommodate us. This property is Beautiful and wonderfully maintained. Our room was absolutely gorgeous. Everything in our room was incredibly comfortable. The bed, the chairs and especially the jetted tub... seriously my feet needed that massage 💆 Also the homemade bath salts were a nice touch courtesy of Sally our very sweet Co Inn - keeper. There were so many neat details about this place like the chocolates and brandy but I also really appreciated the umbrellas in the umbrella stand By the front door that we used for the walk we took in the rain! We loved our stay. It was awesome.

We came for a tour and were quite impressed by our tour guide Jim, the owner of the mansion. He was very friendly and gave us so much information about the history of the mansion. Because it’s a living history museum, we were able to touch everything and feel like we were part of the history he was sharing. We would definitely return, and hopefully even stay overnight.

I wish 10 was an option. My husband surprised me with a weekend getaway for our 2nd anniversary. (He researched the home for two weeks before booking) I'm so glad he did. We didn't get to have a honeymoon at that time. This was our Honeymoon. Walking into the room I was in tears! It was so beautiful. We had an absolutely amazing time. Jim and Sandy were so kind we loved talking with them. They loved telling us the history of their home. With out a doubt an amazing place to stay so cozy. The day of our check out happened to be their anniversary. . We will return that's for sure! Their is also so many things to do in Alton and the area their will always be something to do... Thank you Jim and Sandy! And the chocolate at any time was a very nice touch.

Owner gave us a tour of the house and shared a lot of historical background. We were so impressed with the detail in decor and period furniture. Just incredibly beautiful inside and out. It is nice to see the owner's persistence in preserving such a beautiful part of Alton history

This gorgeous historic Bed and Breakfast was perfect from scenery to service. Very quiet (besides us) and relaxing. Every time I looked around I saw something new 🤩

The Beall Mansion is a beautiful place to stay. The bed was one of the best I have ever slept on and we loved the enormous bathroom with jacuzzi and fireplace. The hosts were very attentive. I’ve never been somewhere where you can call someone at 9 pm and they bring chocolates to your room.

Not sure why, but the 3 star review I left a year ago disappeared. It was more like a 2 star stay. How is it that only the 5 star reviews remain? Breakfast was a joke paper plates and Styrofoam cups. room temp water bottles were the only drinks. paid extra for flowers and Champaign we got pieces of a fake rose on the bed and a GLASS of Champaign. beautiful home and property, but for the almost $1000 for a 2 night stay I feel like I was taken advantage of.

Returned after 1st staying 14 years ago and enjoyed it just the same if not more this time. Missed eating at the table like traditional bed and breakfast (darn you COVID!) and missed the chocolate bar set-up, however breakfast was filling and chocolate was served whenever you would ask. Enjoyed sitting outside the property, taking in the scenery and relaxing (beautiful yard and garden area), or just hanging out in our room. Beds are super comfy! Stayed in the king room this time (queen room on prior stay). Soaking in the tub is very relaxing, and we used Sandy's homemade bath salts that were provided. Jim and Sandy really take pride in caring for the property and sharing the history of it. Would definitely return again for another anniversary weekend!

My husband and I eloped and had our ceremony here three years ago this September. They offer a wonderful package for a small ceremony which included a stay at the bed and breakfast, a spot for the ceremony, an officiant, sparking cider or champagne, and a lovely little cake from a local bakery. We chose to have our ceremony outdoors on their beautiful grounds. It was a perfect day and although I was 5 months pregnant and feeling far from beautiful, the ceremony was gorgeous (and my hubby, oh, so handsome). Would recommend for a wedding big or small, or just as a romantic getaway.
