This place is amazing, my son has been busy in an adventure of a lifetime. You may not have Toys R Us, (RIP) but you can bet the adventure awaits you here. The pictures is just a point of the mass of toys. There's parking in the back and the front. Food and Starbucks next door. The employees are Soo helpful with joy.

Lots of options. Shelves were sparse which is expected as it’s Christmas time. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have wrapping at the back of the store for purchases.

Brown people beware. You will be WATCHED AND FOLLOWED. I’ve came here multiple times. The cashier had a nasty attitude with me when I came in for balloons. I’ve came in multiple times each time was WORSE.

The best toy and gift store ever! I’ve come here multiple times and every time, a worker asks if they can help. I tell them the ages of the children I’m shopping for as well as the interests, and they always direct me to the perfect options and gift. They are super knowledgeable and helpful! Always a positive and happy shopping experience at Child’s Play!

Great and huge selection of toys. Very helpful staff gave us many recommendations for multiple gifts that we were looking for. We found and bought all gifts from there. Prices seemed reasonable too. Highly recommended.

it's a really nice toy store that i loved to go to when i was younger and if you're looking to get something for a 4-11 year old i would definitely suggested. however if you're shopping for an older crowd, maybe fine somewhere else. another thing to note is that most of their products are fairly expensive considering what they are. for example, some of the toy animals and knights and things like that never go below 10 dollars even if it is a small product. some of the bigger stuffed animals are over 200 dollars when you can get them for 40-60 online or at stores like target. overall a very nice store employees were helpful.

I've loved this shop since I was a kid, and now I get to take my own kids there and see the joy on their faces.

I’ve loved this place since I was a child and now my kids love it too. Everyone is always so helpful and they practically greet you at the door. It’s really wonderful. My go-to place for gifts for my kids. Highly recommend!

Toys are expensive no matter where you go. This has the best selection for all ages. Please note : video games , mass produced stuff like hot wheels paw patrol are not really stocked. But awesome selection of Lego , art , games , science and other cool creative playthings. They also wrap which is absolutely clutch for dads who forgot to get the present during the week.

While in town for my wife’s work, my son and I have been out exploring the city. We have never been much for buying tchotchkes as souvenirs, yet few things can bring back the memories of travel like a material thing found along the way. After visiting the gift shop at the National Aquarium in Baltimore and seeing the crummy toy offerings, I told my son we’d find a real toy store - and Child’s Play Toys & Books is definitely that! We were greeted and assisted by passionate toy aficionados - professional retailers. Take your time when you visit this store - there’s a ton to see. Now my son has a quality toy that will bring back memories of our DC trip. We also had a puzzle gift wrapped for free at the counter as a gift for my father-in-law for watching our animals - this was the perfect store for us today! (You know you’re dealing with a serious store when they have an entire shelf dedicated to the best board game ever made - Catan!)

My 10 year old son went to Childsplay after school to buy a gift for his sister's birthday. He parked his bike on Connecticut Ave. in front of the store and picked a gift for his little sister. When he noticed his bike was missing/stolen he dropped the gift on the floor and ran outside. When he came back into the store to tell his friend a clerk scolded him for leaving the items on the floor and asked him to apologize, which he did. The clerk/jerk told him "he didn't think his apology was sincere" and told him to leave the store. How about offering to call the parents and help a distressed child... thanks clerk/jerk.

Amazing place! Best selection I've seen in DC so far. Not just for kids, they have adult games, puzzles, really anything you can think of! Alex and Sebastian were super helpful and very knowledgeable about the store and its selection.

This place has loads of great toys for the kids! It was super busy on a Saturday afternoon, so practice patience. They also offer gift-wrapping, so that slows the line a bit. Great customer service though. Highly recommend.

We have been coming here for a while now, but I have to say today will be the last. We’ve never been followed around a store before, but today we did. Why put Lego’s at the front of the store, if you don’t want brown people standing there. Clearly they thought we would run out with the I had in hand. We were checked on repeatedly. My nephews and I felt frustrated and humiliated. No thank you. I know they won’t miss our patronage, but for is this is no longer an option for fun and book shopping.

What an awesome story, great toys and games for people of all ages. The store is far bigger than you might first realize and they are incredibly well stocked. The staff are passionate and helpful. They were able to discuss Legos in detail with my seven year old son and help me find the perfect board game based on my vague requirements. On top of all that, the prices are very reasonable.
