My friend and I came to Chinatown looking for somewhere modest to eat. The place itself could be mistaken for a movie set, not for its classiness but instead its humility. There are dollar bills and various IDs plastered along the walls; it is really cool. Anyway, their menu is very expansive and reasonably priced. I ordered the Hot & Sour soup and the Pork & Onion dish. My friend ordered the soup as well, some dumplings and duck. The soup was just excellent and very spicy, but not too much! My pork dish was complimented by a savory and salty sauce. They literally gave me so much food around 1:00PM I had enough to last me into the early morning next day. The service was also PERFECT! It is quite shocking actually considering many higher end restaurants in Manhattan I’ve visited couldn’t compete with Wo Hop’s service. Our waters were constantly filled and my meal was wrapped up formally in Chinese to-go boxes. The place is cash only, which is my only complaint if it would even qualify as one. If you’re visiting Chinatown Wo Hop is definitely a first stop!

I would give this place six stars. When I was a kid, there was a Chinese restaurant called Shanghai Lee in my neighborhood. I thought they had the best Chinese food, ever. But eventually it closed and, since then, I've been looking for Chinese food that's as good as that place was. And Wo Hop is where I found it. I've been here a few times and each time the food is delicious. I would definitely recommend their roast pork fried rice and their chow fun. But, in all actuality, everything, I've eaten there was good. You gotta know when to go there because there will be a line 8 parties deep, at times. I've actually had to stand near their entrance and make sure that people don't cut the line. The place is a little small. They got a cool thing going on with their walls covered in money. But the food is top-notch. If you want great-tasting Chinese food, this is the place you wanna go.

Famous place in the heart of China town. Tourists and native New Yorkers alike come to eat here and it gives you all the classic Chinese dishes. There’s usually a line to get in but it moves relatively quickly. You walk down a tiny stair case to get inside and be ready to sit in close quarters with other diners. It’s fun though! Very fast and quick service and large portions. I’m always happy when I eat here!

It was a good experience. Food was delicious and service was fast. Prices are cheaper than most places in NYC. Sweat and sour chicken, chicken noodle and sasimi chicken was delicious. Also pork fried dumplings and vegetable fried rice was good. Only problem you cannot split the prices with others, its really hard and they only accept cash

Cash only! It was worth waiting in the long line to eat here. We went downstairs to a small but really cool dining room where the walls were covered with autographed dollar bills. I was here for lunch with friends. The food is fantastic! The portions are big and delicious. Service was quick and excellent. We sat in the very booth which was used in the filming of the last episode of the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. Would I eat here again? That's a no-brainer! The next time I'm in NYC, i will make sure to stop by again! Keep up the great work!

Excellent, easy 5 stars. The inside was full when we arrived but they were able to seat us outside immediately. The fried dumplings were some of the best I've had. The broccoli beef and pineapple chicken were both fantastic as well. The meat was all so tender I didn't have to fight with it or pick around anything weird. Service was attentive but not overbearing. If you're looking for good Chinese in the city this is the place to go.

This place served me the fluffiest veggie egg roll I've ever tried! The fried wontons were generously portioned and overall fresh as heck. We tried the General Tso's, my favorite thing about that was the breading+chicken although it was not that spicy--might see if I can request that next time. Roast duck fried rice was good. Overall cheap! Fastest service I've ever experienced in my life.

Americanized Chinese food at it’s finest. There are zero frills. This is a restaurant run by a mainly middle aged male staff. They are efficient boarder if on gruff in how they handle their customers. The spicy cabbage and pork soup may be one of the best soups I have ever had. Get there before 7 to easily be sat. The line was 20 parties deep by 8. Make sure you go to Wo Hop (run out of the basement) not Wo Hop Next Door.

Some of the best Chinese food I've had. Ordered the spring rolls, shrimp fried rice and seafood Cantonese chow mein. Everything was great. It's a cash only establishment. There is a location next door as well where you will be seated in the basement. We were told by the waiter that the basement location served more American style food, while the upstairs location was Cantonese style and had more seafood options. Highly recommend adding it to your list if you're in Manhattan.

I finally popped in to check out what all the rant and raving was about. The quality of the food was good, the service could be better, but ambience was great. I met so many great people on my first visit of many. Not only is this the go to neighborhood spot, but people from all parts of the city and the tri-state area seem to be regulars that enjoy everything this wonderful restaurant has to offer. I knew I was at the right place when I met a couple who have been coming here all the way from New Jersey for 30+ years once a week. You’ll find patrons from all walks of life that come together with one thing in common, enjoying what the extensive menu and great service has to offer. The menu is definitely on the pricier side, so get ready to spend a pretty penny.

1st Get the Fried Dumplings, then Order Whatever else your Heart Desires ❤️ The Atmosphere is everything you want in Life plus More. The Sweet & Sour Chicken looks like if you took the one your Dad always Ordered but Put it in Hot Yoga 🔥 🥹 Chicken Wings.. Why Not?! 🔥 but Dont forget the Lemon. Just Remember the Plate feeds 4, so Good Luck on Choosing What to Push to the Side 🤣 If You Have to Wait in Line Then You WAIT! #Approved

We picked this restaurant because of the rave reviews as having the best egg rolls. Sorry, I have to strongly disagree. They were better than average. I found the chicken fried rice bland tasting. Overall, it was average Chinese food. The prices were fair. The service was quick. They needed quick turnaround due to a lack of tables. Also, make sure you check your utensils, I had to ask for clean ones. That was a big turn-off. I won't be coming back. I'm generous giving 3 stars.

So my family has been coming here for over 40 years, probably longer. The food is always top notch on freshness and flavor. Not much has changed here in my lifetime, the food is always delicious and you can't get authentic food like this in upstate NY. Only thing I would critique is that the black bean sauce on my snails could have been a lot spicier. We were a little confused why our server and another gentleman asked to bring out our appetizer 3 times (we replied yes all 3 times) but it never arrived, so we just chalked it up to them being busy. It was great to take my friend Sara here for her 1st time, and a nice trip down memory lane for me since I haven't been down in probably 10 years. Miss you Willie, different experience without you there. That man (prior owner) I owe my love of Chinese food to. Everything he made was the best thing I ever tried as a little kid, especially the sea snails, which I was taught to eat around 3y.o., and I been eating my own platter every time ever since 😅💛🐌

Wo Hop is a classic Chinese restaurant in New York City's Chinatown that has been serving up delicious and authentic food for over 50 years. The food is always fresh and made to order, and the portions are generous. I also love that Wo Hop offers a wide variety of dishes to choose from, so there's something for everyone. Whether you're in the mood for classic Chinese fare or something a little more unique, Wo Hop is sure to have something you'll love.

Just finished an awesome dinner. Saturday November 18th 2023. Authentic Chineserestaurant downstairs. We ordered wonton soup, egg rolls, fried dumplings, steak kew and sweet and sour chicken. Everything was excellent. Very good service and the timing of the food was on point. Highly recommend HUGE menu.. very polite staff. Very clean too, especially considering the high activity of customers very fair priced. The food portions are quite large You will not go home hungry.

Always delicious, one of the best Chinese restaurants in New York. Yes you will wait if you go on the weekend or during a holiday but it’s worth the wait. I try something new every time and I am never disappointed. The pork fried rice, chow fun and fried dumplings are my favorite dishes here. I always leave here happy and with leftovers, they never disappoint.

Got here at 7:00. This is a good time as it gets busier later and you have to wait on a line to be seated and served. This place is very busy for good reason, it's very good. They seeded six of us with no problem in the outside seating area. This was very comfortable and clean. We had six different orders which we shared and everyone was happy with what they got. The servings are large we had a lot left and everybody in our group were large and big eaters. The server came by several times to check on us and make sure that we had everything we wanted. Between the six of us we had no complaints. A great experience which we will all Endeavor to enjoy again.
