This place might be good if you are able to snag a third floor unit but keep in mind that their are tons of college students here. Don't believe it when they tell you everything is sound insulated, I'm writing this review at 11:35pm because my upstairs neighbor is stomping around.

DO NOT! I REPEAT DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS PLACE TO LIVE IN!! They advertise the residence as "Luxury" however they allow MULTIPLE college students to live in the same apartments.. constant shouting and heavy pounding on walls and ceilings.. the apartment insulation is extremely thin!! ALSO this is not a smoke free residence.. not sure how in this ag and time, but that's what they say.. Constant smell of cigarette smoke and marijuana fill the hallways and find their way through he ventilation system! Constant complaining to the office staff does nothing except waste your time.. their response is literally.. "Nothing we can do about it" STAY AWAY!!!!!

Unless you want to pay 400-500 more than the rent prices listed on ALL marketing materials online, don't bother touring here. All of the rent prices listed online are incorrect, and they are very unclear when you tour what the real price is. We looked at a one bedroom listed online at $2000. When we went to apply it was $2,417. And we met with a leasing agent and toured the building an no one mentioned that ALL the online prices were COMPLETELY wrong. They have tons of hidden fees and the leasing agents don't disclose them even when you ask directly. For example, they told us parking was included (it's actually an extra $75 per month) second floor units are an extra $10 per month. Third floor units are an extra $25 per month. Large patios are an extra $50 per month. The mandatory amenity fee is $500 per year. So not only are rents WAY higher than advertised, most likely any unit you look at is going to cost you even more with the hidden fees. They don't even include any utilities.

Management was extremely rude to us and the client. We were working on a clients car in the parking lot and management came out screaming at us telling us they were going to call the cops. We were not bothering anyone. If they had come up and politely asked us to leave and informed us we couldn’t work there then we would have left, but the workers were yelling and threatening us calling one of the tenants a “moron” for letting us park there. Terrible experience and going out of my way in the future to make sure I never purchase/rent a property owned by these people.

I think it’s important for the public to share information so company’s don’t take advantage of people. Please be aware that pricing on their website is wrong. The 1 bedroom which is their smallest unit starts at $2400. They have much lower prices listed on their websites intentionally so that when you do a search for apartments in the area theirs comes up first. Please don’t waste your time unless you have that amount. They also won’t have any 1 bedrooms available until November. I hope this helps someone.

We visited this place when we we looking for a place to live. It seemed quite nice but the front office staff are quite reluctant to engage in any kind of conversation. I understand during the pandemic a physical walkthrough is not advisable but most of the other apartments in the neighborhood do a virtual walkthrough and these guys don't even do that. How can one rent without even an inspection? Go figure!

If you knew any better you would stay away. I wish I could say more but I’m too embarrassed. Property manager and the entire management are running this place like a concentration camp. Highly unprofessional. Rude. Disrespectful. No regard for people. Example? Ever see a ton of incorrect charges and try to rectify it but they take you through loops forever until finally you have the one thing that proves them wrong so your bank has to step in and defend you? We’re talking about months of headaches to finally be correct. No apology. Then the next week it happens again. Quality of life? Peace of mind? Stay away. You’re the only idiot who would consider this “luxury” 😂

Predatory and dishonest business practices. The actual facilities are nice, but the management could do better in so many aspects. I would not recommend living here due to lack of professionalism, transparency from management, and general lack of compassion from the staff. Miscommunications that cost over 1-2K are resolved with a pathetic apology citing "human error". Good riddance.

Stopped by for a tour of an apartment and was guided through the facility by Jackie. Throughout the new lease process Jackie has been extremely pleasant and incredibly helpful. The apartments all look really nice and the area that it's in is tucked away from most traffic and is surrounded by greenery. Beyond stoked to move in!

Merriewold apartments is truly a luxury residence. I live here for over a year. Mary & Jackie are a great team, they manage the office with professionalism and excellence. The apartments are new with gorgeous cabinets, plus full size washer & dryer. An added bonus is direct access to the Rutgers Preserve. Of course they allow pets.

I wrote this review because while I was checking leasing office open hours on google maps, I noticed some top-voted 1 star review. I think that’s not sure based on my 1 year experience. I saw a few 1-star reviews mentioned the “rent doesn’t match between the third party website and the actual rent” and that’s why they rated as 1 star. This sounds a bit funny. The most accurate source on the web is the official website. The third party website is giving renters an idea and used for general comparison and research. On the website, I can clearly see the rent for the specific unit, which is good to me when I did my apartments research. For example, I can see unit 4105 will be available at Dec 8 with rent $2457 from their website. This kind of info would save potential renters a lot time. At least saved me quite a lot time. Besides this, I’d like to share some pros and cons based on my 1 year merriewold experience. Cons: 1. Package delivery room/ Mailroom is a mess. There is a dedicated mailroom with Luxer One locker inside. All packages are supposed to be delivered to each locker unit and resident can just pick it up using code. However, locker units are very limited (maybe around 50?) and most items are just leave inside the room. I think they noticed this so they put a few huge containers in the mailroom for collecting items. This makes package picking up becomes annoying as you need to find your item among like 20 or sometimes 30 different items. This will even lower the safety of your item as we know some items come with its original package to be environmental-friendly. I think they known this becoming the issue and they start to split packages by building number and send them to each buildings lobby. This is good. I would like to see how my packages got delivered during the coming holiday season. 2. gym is in general good but 2 out of 3 treadmills are not working as expected. 1 is completely not working(left one) and the other one is not smooth(right one). This has been at least 5 months. ( I actively use it since June) Please help fix them. 3. Unreasonable floor fee. I live on 3rd floor and I have $25.00 extra fee because of that every month. Pros: 1. Effective, reliable and nice maintenance team. (Very important IMO) 2. Clean hallway and other public building areas. 3. Leasing office service is good. No doubt to Jackie’s 5 star service. 4. Safe and private place, nice neighborhood, beautiful forest view, well-integrated garage facility. 5. Johnson Park is right outside the community. In general it is very pleasure and enjoyable to live here. Will for sure stay 1 more year or maybe 2.

I went to fill out a application for a apartment. It was very nice. The staff was very patient with me. They offered me water and made me feel like I was at home. I met resident there and he was very friendly and also a maintenance guy he was also very friendly. The complex was nice clean and immaculate. I had to wait for a lyft and it took very long. The office staff let me sit in the club house and I felt at home. Although they didn't have any I bedroom units available I would have definitely choose this property to live would very inviting and friendly atmosphere. I would recommend anyone to live in this nice luxurious community. Definitely 5 stars. Also pet friendly

We've lived here since they opened, across two different units in that time. It's one of our favorite places that we've ever lived. The units are really nice with modern finishes. The area is gorgeous with easy access to parks, walking trails, and about a 20-minute walk into town or the train station to NY. Also can't say enough about how kind and helpful everyone who works here is.
