Ordered a chicken parm for pick up with white sauce instead of regular tomato sauce and it was ok... there was a good amount of chicken in my dish and I added my own seasonings to it and pasta sauce because some of the noodles were dry. I felt that for $26 and change they could of filled it to the top.. This was the most expensive chicken parm I've ever purchased... food was ok BUT not worth almost $30.

Always a great meal at Gourmet Cafe from Chef Matthew. Scallops appetizer. Rigatoni with Shrimp. Swordfish special.

Wonderful little unsuspecting restaurant; great and attentive staff, delicious pasta, good vibes. Highly recommend the penne vodka and shrimp and the mussels app. Will be back!

Gourmet Cafe is a special place for my family. Matt, the chef, makes everything from scratch, which is obvious in every bite. Matt exudes a hospitable and kind persona, which is genuine to his core. Gourmet Cafe has been my family's go-to restaurant for almost 16 years, and we have never had an average meal. Every dish is carefully curated and made with intention. Chef Matt and staff: Thank you for always being gracious to my family. Thank you for supporting Parsippany and nearby towns through fundraisers, donations, and taking an active role in our community.

Had party of 42 this past weekend. Couldn't have been better. The owner was wonderful, attentive and very accommodating. All of the guests were very impressed with the food and atmosphere. His sauce is excellent and the Bolognese is some of the best I have ever had. The Caesar salad was delicious, the pasta was perfectly al dente and the salmon and chicken dishes were excellent finished off with a great cheesecake. First time here and will certainly make this a go to restaurant.

We went for our Anniversary dinner. It is a small and quaint place. The servers and all other working there are very hospitable. The food was delicious. I stay very close to this cafe but never knew it was so good. I usually am not a fan of Italian cuisine but my my i am impressed. I would recommend it to people i know and would visit again!

Just hosted an anniversary party for my parents and everything was PERFECT. Food was delicious, the room was a great size and they took care of every detail for us the whole time. Chef Matt is so sweet and absolutely delivered. Would recommend having your next event there or just a classic dinner cause the food is so good.

Went there tonight for first time and had a great experience. Atmosphere was welcoming, service was great and food was awesome with portions and quality. All this with amazing staff that was very friendly. Best meal and experience we have had in a while. Exceeded expectations. We will be back often.

Been here a few times with friends..Very good food and the owner is always around making sure everything is on point..one of my go to places when I want good Italian food..never disappointed.

Great food made the way you want it and great service too. Always a good idea to call ahead to make a reservation even if it is just for two because this place packs them in even on a Tuesday night. BYOB

Never had a bad meal. Have gone there for lunch and dinner several times. Great atmosphere and always pleasant service. Even when it's closing time you are not rushed to finish up, Matt and crew are ACES!!!

Excellent staff, clean restaurant and food is delicious. Very pleased with the meals. Although this time was take out. I have done dine in too. Very happy. Also owner does so much with donations to community. Its great to support small businesses that are involved with the community too.

My scallops were delicious and my husband had saltimbocca which was also excellent! The owner Matthew and all of the staff couldn't be nicer. One of our favorite places to eat !

Good food , nice people

The food is fresh and delicious. Great variety. The red sauce is homemade, as are the meatballs. The staff is very friendly and professional. When I am in the area, I always try to stop in for lunch.

Was very pleased w the restaurant. Service was excellent - 2 sisters who have been there for some time so very familiar w business. Food was excellent. The owner, Matt, came out to talk to all the patrons at end of night. Clearly puts a lot of pride in his business. Highly recommend.

This hidden gem is magnificent! This was our first time here, we only wish we had discovered it much sooner. The food is delicious, superb, authentic, the best. Ended up in Parsippany unexpectedly the other evening and did a quick Google search for a restaurant. What a great find this was! Food was excellent and reasonable - the owner/chef, Mateo, was delightful. Wish this place was closer to home! Will definitely be returning if my travels bring me back to this area. Bring your favorite bottle of wine and enjoy a truly authentic Italian meal.

I've seen lots of posts about this restaurant on my town's FB page, friends' FB pages, everyone raving about it, so I decided to go there for my birthday (yesterday) for what I thought would be a "special treat." To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. There was a very large party (at least 30 people) taking up more than half of the restaurant, very loud. Okay, not the fault of the restaurant, but they should have told me when I made my reservation that there would be a large party there that night. What they really should have done was close the place except for that one party. The staff barely spoke to us throughout our meal. The person clearing the table was like a bull in a china shop, I felt like we were being rushed and pushed out the door. The food was room temperature with no flavor, no seasonings. My meal was listed as being in a garlic white wine sauce, could barely taste any garlic or anything else. I asked for fresh pepper (it wasn't offered) but that didn't help. The final nail in their coffin was when I got home: the restaurant called me to tell me they gave us the wrong bill! What I should have done was tell them it was their mistake, they need to eat the difference, but my parents instilled in me to go high even when others go low. This was my first and LAST visit to this place... UPDATE: Thank you, Matthew, for your quick response and action taken. I may have to give your place another chance...

First time purchasing from here. I ordered broccoli rabe and sausage to go. Honestly, it was the best that I have ever had anywhere. Service was very good, and everyone was friendly. I will soon be back!

Out to eat with a 10month old baby and it wasn't an issue, every body was great, staff guest and food was AMAZING. My husband can't stop thinking about the burrito ravioli! And they were able to accommodate my dairy and gluten free allergy!!

This place is all class. Delicious food, great staff. Every meal eaten here has been excellent. The true definition of a hidden gem. This is the kind of place you bring people to show off you have great taste in restaurants.
