The gym is always dirty and all the equipment needs to be fixed. Ever since the gym reopened during pandemic nothing has been fixed. Very disappointing

absolutely horrible gym. not worth it even if it was free. dishonest management and staff simply doesn't care. as many others mentioned here most of the equipment is broken for months some for years already. dangerous sanitary conditions there's no hot water in showers nor in "hot" tub anymore. sauna produce very little heat at best. pool water is grey. mildew and dirt all around. looks like LA Fitness letting Esporta die so most likely they will get shut down anytime soon so save your dime and stay away.

Great selection of cardio machines, wished they had more cable weight machines. However the staff is RUDE! I always say good morning or good night when coming in and they don’t even acknowledge you. What a shame! Horrible costumer service. They need some basic costumer service skill training or refresher for their front desk personnel, rudeness it’s not cool or a trend and human decency does not stay from you “cool”.

Budget gym with LA amenities....it would be awesome if all cardio equipment are working, but it's getting better everyday. Excellent crew. Update: They changed cardio equipment. Getting better 💪💪

This place is not worth the price… majority of the trademills are down for months, same is the case of bikes as well… When we talk to management it’s been told that we know the issue and we are getting it repaired… but no action on this… These guys are just interested in getting new members and ad the devices are not working it adds crowd and waiting time… Very disorganized gym…. If there would have beeen N option to rate -ve then I would go ahead and rate -ve…

Nov 11,2023 I go there to train with a friend and as soon as I walked in, 5 treadmills out of service. See picture below. I'm not sure how people can give this gym a 5. They have to be fake reviews. I lost count how many treadmills, ellipticals and stair climbers are out of service and have not been fixed in months. Women's bathroom filthy. The equipment is cheap and breaks easily. I’m shocked people sign up at this location.

I cancelled my membership at this gym. First of all, most of the equipment is broken 99% of the time, and when you raise the issue to management, they just tell you that "they're working on it". Second, this gym has obvious cleanliness issues (the locker rooms absolutely reek) and bathrooms don't even have soap or paper towel. There is absolutely no one out on the floor picking up weights/organizing- they sit at the front desk with their faces buried in their phones. I can't justify spending $30 a month on a dirty gym with non-functioning equipment and rude staff. If you're thinking of signing up here, I would seriously reconsider.

I have been a member for a little over a year, and I had the membership where I could bring any guest any time I wanted. My twins stopped coming with me, so I wanted to downgrade my membership and was told that I had to pay $149 and $49 to join the cheaper plan. Instead of just downgrading the membership. I just told them to cancel. Instead of trying to help me to keep me as a customer, they just let me cancel. Gym suppose to open at 5am. Staff is always late opening. Machines are constantly broken and yes gym is dirty. No customer service at all.

My husband and I have been coming to this gym on and off for almost 2 years, and as of today’s date, it’s still is a disappointment to us that every time we attempt to go on a treadmill, they are almost all out of order, and this is just not an out of a blue thing. It has become an everyday thing in this gym. It blows our mind that we are paying for a gym that we can’t even get on the treadmill machines, which is the only machines we use to do our daily workout. Beyond that, when you finally do get one, you have a time limit of 20 minutes which I completely ignore, as again, I am a paying customers with only limited treadmill machines. These hiccups need to improve in order for your business to be successful and for people to continue going, as there is many competitors ready to take in the next member. I’m sure I’m not the only one voicing my concerns. All we ask is for functional treadmills and a clean gym to avoid these type of frustrations and reviews. Finally, if I was a able to submit this review with no star, I definitely would have done that, but unfortunately I had to select a 1 star to submit this review.

I've been a member since Bally's then LAfitness & now Esporta. I am trying to stay within my comunity but there are obvious issues that can be easily corrected to keep members. I go to the gym in the early mornings and the female bathroom is terrible when it should be spotless. Pee smell in the shower, shower curtains and shower walls are dirty and alot of equipments always labeled broken. Keep members happy through this pandemic please, thnx

Worst gym I've been to. Half the machines are not in use, hot tub and sauna are a joke, they provide no towels, and the personal training is a rip off. I want to drop this gym and the personal training I signed up for and these people told me I would have to pay over $900 to quit the personal training and $25 to drop the membership. Paying the $25 fee is fine and I was informed about it. However, they did not inform me about the cancellation fee for the personal training. I would think for that if they were going to charge me anything for dropping personal training it would be around the same as the amount I pay each month but "no." Please folks carefully consider what you could get yourself into before signing up. You might regret it.

I used to like this gym! Now they’re more keen on making sales, having more members on the expense of customer service. Yesterday I had to wait for around 15 minutes for the lat pull down machine (they have two but one is constantly under service)!!) I also signed for a group personal training and for two times in a row the trainer never showed up, gym managers were surprised and had no plan B.. bizarre!!

Go for mostly the running machines, shame only a single elliptical works. Bathrooms smell bad. They either have only one of the weight machines people care about or two with one of them being out of service. Can't even be bothered to even oil the rusty machines that still work or replace the missing handle on some. Most the time the gym is filled with the same rude ego filled lunks wasting space and it brings the whole environment down. At least they say "welcome" when you check in at the front desk but that's about it.

This gym started off so well. Its condition over the last year is embarrassing. -The number of “out of order” signs on every few machines for MANY months at a time is unacceptable. There is never such thing as a quick workout at this gym. -In addition, there are many squeaking machines (which are significantly distracting) for failure of basic maintenance like lubrication. The cost is nominal to simply grease the joints. I’ll give it another couple weeks to see any changes but I’m not wasting summer at this gym waiting for the one machine that works. Fix your gym or sell it to someone who can.

Sauna is always on point, which for me is paramount. The members are generally well mannered, the equipment is respected and mostly in order, with the exception of most of the treadmills, which seem to be permanently out of order at this point. Though I also think much of that is pandemic-related (no parts/equipment/people to fix them). The staff are always nice and helpful. I belonged to the North Brunswick location and happily drive the extra few miles!

BEWARE of their training fees! A family member had signed up with a trainer - note that gym requires you sign up for training for at least three months (that's $320 per month). After the first few weeks, due to health issues, she could not continue. She had reached out to the gym to explain the situation, cancel her membership, and ask for a refund for the remaining two months. First, she found it very hard to even reach someone about canceling her membership. The employee she did reach told her she has to speak with a manager. After several calls and emails, going to the gym in person, she finally got to speak with a manager, who told her she needs a doctor's note to cancel. (Why in the world is this even allowed for a business to ask? A person's health is their own, it's private, and shouldn't be required by a gym.) They are still charging her the three months. This seems to be more of a business that cares about money rather than peoples health. Buyer beware.

First and foremost if i could given zero stars I would. This is all do to the fact of the personal trainer who goes by the name of Gus. He has a terrible attitude and has no respect or courtesy to anyone who attends this location. I was in the personal training area and he approached me with the rudest energy and asked me to leave without any explanation. As a staff member he should have simply explained that the area was currently being used for his training. Instead he moved with an atrocious attitude. I asked him how long the area would be taken for and he responded saying it would take a very long time. Then within 5 minutes he was done utilizing the said training area. Very unprofessional and overall horrible attitude for any staff let alone a personal trainer to have. Very disappointed in this location for hiring personal trAiners with horrible customer service. Gus alone ruined my experience of this gym. He personally reduces the quality and energy of all the better aspects. Esporta needs to do better when hiring.

    1) So many machines are not working. Some of the “repair” signs are there for more than one year- yes, more than one year. Some pity are attached. 2) Bicycles- only 2 are working out of 6 for more than a year. Lisa is manager and she tells me nobody does anything in upper management. 3) One day I took shower. The place for soap and floor were very dirty and non-hygienic. Never took shower again. 4) They put new machines for antiseptic cloth. I just noticed, machine is out of cloth. I was told that Dave is in charge. In charge of “sign” -Not in Service ? I am joining Crunch- they have newer machines.

Teetering been 3 and 4. 3.5 honestly. I heard it was a dumpster fire but I was happy to see it wasn't the case. Place definitely needs more pulley stations, but other than that, the selection of machines is decent. They do the Jersey schlong thing where they've got the weird AstroTurf area that takes up way too much space where weights and machines can go, but I was happy to see keiser spin bikes. Bathroom is kinda gross, though.

Went back first time after re-opening. A mask is required to get in but many customers just keep it below their nose or even below their chin (in other words, being useless). That is inexcusable of course but it might help if there were signs noting that masks must be worn properly, if customers were told they must wear them properly, and if a staff member or recording was telling people to wear them properly. They will have to do better if they want to stay open.

Good price and nice trainers. However the gym is always dirty, and the staff: especially the blonde guy named Alex, are extremely disrespectful. In fact I cannot believe they hired someone so incompetent a guy who’s always vaping and giving dirty looks to anyone who walks in. Acting like he’s doing you a favor to do his own job. They need to hire people who are respectful and grateful for the job, not dullard clowns like this.

Day care and staff are awesome!!!!! A lot of cardio machines are broken or in poor working condition. Bathrooms are semi clean. A good deal if you go for the 18 month prepaid deal. Recently there have been a lot of weight machines broken or in poor condition. Very frustrating when it gets busy and you have to wait for the 1 machine that is working. Why are there so many weight and cardio machines down? Doesn't the company have a maintenance team? This opinion is coming from a facilities manager for 5 warehouses. They really need to up their game on maintaining the cardio and weight machines.

Machines constantly broken for long periods of time. People who work there in general do not seem to care about the customers. We go all the time and it is 50/50 if they will greet you when you walk into the place. Not hard to be friendly. Makes a difference, especially when there are a lot of other choices to select from in the area. They also seem to have lost a lot of members as of late. Most likely because the bathroom are CONSTANTLY out of soap and paper towels.

This gym is by far the best one around in the East Brunswick area. They offer many different classes, personal training options, and also has a great swimming pool. This is the first gym that I’ve gone too where the swimming pool is very clean and never seems to be down. They also have an amazing sauna as well. I signed up with Eli for a membership for a very reasonable price that also gives quest privileges. He then introduced me to a fitness specialist Brian who was amazing and talked to my about my fitness goals and actually did a complimentary assessment for me. I ended up signing up for persona training for 2x a week for a very reasonable price compared to other gyms. The training has been amazing and all of their trainers train the right way and treats us fair as well as pushing us to our limits. I love this gym

Working as a personal trainer at Esporta has always been a pleasure. I am very fortunate to have such a great team to work with. Brian consistently makes sure that all of my clients are receiving the highest quality training, and are satisfied with the Esporta experience. As an employee, I could not ask for better coworkers. In regard to the club itself, it is really great to have the turf as a resource. Many of these exercises translate into a higher quality of daily life, so that you have energy enjoy the activities that you want to enjoy.

I have been a member of LA Fitness on Rt.18 in East Brunswick since January 2020, and have been going 3-4 times a week (except for the several months the gyms were closed due to Covid-19). A couple weeks ago without any notification or alerts to their members LA Fitness Rt.18 changed their brand to ESPORTA and began renovations to their policies, equipment, and attitude… to that of mobsters. I have been paying a $50 membership fee for single gym use including sign up fees and bi-annual fees since January, but ESPORTA’s most exclusive multi-club membership costs $25 a month without any sign up fees and includes several more amenities than my twice as expensive membership to the same exact gym!! Today I inquired about switching my membership from LA Fitness single-gym $50+ dollars a month to their most expensive $25 dollar membership… for the same gym. I was told that if I wanted to switch I would have to pay a $190 conversion fee, and that I could not simply quit LA Fitness and join ESPORTA because that would be somehow illegitimate and unlawful and they screen their applications and prohibit this behavior. Therefore if I wanted to continue to use their gym I would have to pay the inflated price of $50 dollars a month ($25 more than their most expensive membership) or I would have to pay the $190 dollars up front. When I inquired about quitting the gym, I was told that was not even an option! I was told by the manager that there is no way that I would be able to quit my gym membership through the online portal, I would also not be able to quit the gym today because the only person who can do that for me works Monday-Friday, and if I wanted to speak to her I would have to call and make an appointment first. Don’t you love when you sign up for a gym, but without warning they change to a whole different gym and give you an ultimatum of paying their extortion fees up front or on a monthly basis without giving you a way out unless you jump through hoops and I am positive pay a hefty cancellation fee, that is if I am ever able to schedule this appointment in the first place. PS – On Thursday 12 November, ESPORTA Rt. 18 decided to put in an afro-turf in half of the gym space they typically use for equipment. But don’t worry because they didn’t take any equipment out, they just smashed it all together until you feel like you are sitting on the lap of the person next to you while you are exercising. Not only is there no social distancing, they are pretty much leaving you no choice but to rub elbows with everyone the entire time you are there. THANKS #LAFITNESS

Probably not the worst gym but not anywhere near great. Switching gyms as soon as possible. Tried giving this place a chance. Too many inconsiderate people and so so so many broken machines since I joined over a year ago. Make your own decision but if you want to get a decent workout in probably not here

Used to workout here for 2 1/2 years but switched to another gym because it was closer and slightly cheaper. Pretty good selection of equipment though its not always as clean as I would have liked. Only downside is that when a machine breaks it doesn't usually get fixed for a month or two. Overall 4/5 is a reasonable rating in my book.

Gym is small to begin with and they decided to cut off a quarter of the gym to put down turf and push machines together, in the middle of a pandemic.... Makes sense. The "trainers" are full of themselves and rude to other members. There's always a good amount of machines not working. So many dopes who refuse to wear their masks properly and the staff doesn't seem too serious about enforcing the rule.

Some of the girls who work front desk can barley look up from their phones to scan you in. Won’t even get up off the chair to take your temp. Temps are taken about 2 feet from someone’s forehead which clearly isn’t giving an accurate reading. No respect or even attentiveness to the customers. Never experienced this type of laziness and lack of professionalism from the employees. So rude and lack luster.

This is my favorite location! They're a little small and it's a bit older, but I love every piece of free weights they have! They habe a much bigger selection then Edison (which is my closest location). That's the main reason I love this one so much. The service is fine, front desk is kind, professional, respectful, and warm. The people who clean ans maintain the equipment [both respectfully] are great. I also love it bc at the times I go, it's busy, but not overwhelming like Edison or East Brunswick. I love that.

Good equipment but pretty rude service. The lady at front desk, Evelyn was extremely rude in dealing with customers. Apparently, it turned out she was the manager for the branch, incredible. This happened last Tuesday when I was very disparagingly asked not to use the scanning machine to scan my membership card. It is interesting that these same people encourage us to use the machine ourselves and when we attempt to use it, they are extremely discourteous and rude to the customer. May be they need training on basics of customer service. What was even more interesting was when I asked for the name of her manager, I was told his last name was confidential. If someone wishes to be so confidential in his/her name (I didn’t ask for social security number!), I wonder how they deal with customer experience. Well, in that case, how are the following justified: A different individual scans my membership every single time. Would the display of MY full name to a different individual every time, not amount to compromising my personal information?

They are not clear during subscription..they do tricks by not informing you about any fees..and always say you can cancel anytime ...make you sign on 12 mouth contract ...and when I asked to correct the situation..they ask you to pay a fee 50 % of that contract... They are not honest... This happened with me on personal training....All this money they take from people are injustice and unfairness.

I dont use classes or spinning bikes.

The equipment is ALWAYS broken/scheduled for service. There are machines that haven’t been fixed in months even after mentioning it to the front desk. The treadmills are old and also always busted up. They appear to be the same ones from when the gym first opened years ago and replacements are long overdue.

Been going to this gym over two years. While it’s a gym and has equipment that allows me to work on what I wanna work out the problem is the gym times and the people working out. Signs need to be placed around the gym to remind people to re rack their dumbbells and plates after use. Half my workout is walking around the gym trying to find a pair of dumbbells. The gym is overall as clean as it can be. Some equipment broken at times but not the end of the world. My biggest problem is the gym times and how they have changed. You need to go back to the hours you had and stop using Covid as an excuse for why the times have changed.

(( HORRIFIC )) 👀😳 I hardly ever give scathing reviews but this place is SPECIAL (not that kind of special either). I couldn't believe the FILTHINESS of this place (the restroom was DISGUSTING) - the FOUL ODOR (WITH ZERO AIR CIRCULATION) in the locker rooms - breeding BLACK MOLD (!) because of the humidity in the air, & poor air circulation in gym ENTIRELY... the poor attitudes of staff when questioned about the amount of OUT OF SERVICE machinery all along the floor. Was all I needed to know about this place. The management is doing a PISS POOR JOB running this place and it's EVIDENT. My advice to you; DO NOT COME HERE. There are much BETTER places to go to! Until management gets their *bleep* together and runs this place the way it should be, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. I've had several memberships to different places and I wouldn't give my hard earned money to a place ran by mediocre & ignorant people who only take money from it's customers but doesn't invest back into their business. Sadly, this place has a lot of potential. It's clear the owner(s) don't give a *bleep* about it. Just look around for Christ's sake 😳. EMBARRASSING doesn't begin to describe what I'm looking at! 🫣 WOW. 🫣

Cleanliness isn’t that great. Same hair and wrappers in lockers for weeks sometimes. Constantly broken machines. I’ve been a member a year and a half and some machines have been down the whole time. Staff has always been friendly to me. It gets very crowded in the evenings but they don’t limit the capacity so at times it’s impossible to workout there. Not worth the price.

Good gym especially in the early morning hours when there are fewer people working out. The reason for 3 stars is cleanliness or lack thereof. There are some recommendations that can really help. One, make sure that air ventilation is good both in the main gym area but especially in the locker room. When you walk into the locker room, there is literally no air flowing, which means smell of sweat just lingers. Maybe bump up the air conditioner by a couple of degrees, you might as well err on the side of it being a little cooler (and thus air circulation). The 56 fans in the main area are not doing much, trust me! Two, ask the cleaning crew to spray and clean the lockers every week. Three, there is black mold in the showers and bugs flying around. The walls and floor need to be sprayed almost every night (just get a mold cleaning spray from Lowes next door) and spray the walls and let it sit overnight. Four, the bathroom needs to be mopped every night. I have seen the same hairball under one of the urinals for weeks so you know it has not been cleaned. Five, ask patrons to not shave their heads or faces all over the locker room or in the sauna. No one should be walking in other people's hair all over the place. That needs to be strictly enforced. Shaving should just be in the sinks in the locker room. If you do all of these things, this gym is really very convenient full of nice friendly people and spacious. I used to go to NYSC and it was so freaking clean, it smelled like lysol all the time.

Responsible staff! My friend’s new lock wouldn’t open and all their clothes and valuables were stuck in the locker. Lisa was super helpful in troubleshooting. She immediately came over to the locker room to assist my friend and helped her open it.

I’m coming to this gym for yoga. The room is tooo cold. We need a heater not an air conditioning. I’d appreciate if the management could take action and fix this problem. Thank you

Besides some of the equipment being out of order (understandable) This gym is all around very nice and welcoming to someone like me. The sales team made sure my membership included everything I needed while also keeping the cost efficient. If this was the NBA than I say Sign Nuri to a 5 year SuperMax contract!!

Just joined this club. I have unlimited guest privileges and it's annoying how I bring the same person but they have to sign this document as a guest EVERYTIME. Also don't like the app. Would much rather have a keychain scanner. As for the gym, they have good equipment, and classes for everyone. Also all kinds of people go. It's never too crowded.

My mom went here because they have Silver Sneakers classes. When she changed her insurance she no longer had the program. I think they gave her the most expensive plan to stay, because just 4 months later she spent all $200 of her insurance money meant for a gym. She loved this place, but it is very expensive for a senior on a budget. And there are no plans that would work with he two class a week budget.

Front counter kid came off just a biiiit unfriendly and ,if possible, over-professional. Willing to accept maybe he was just grumpy being it was 7am.

Went for opening day and the gym was great. Lots of free weights, 3 squat racks, plenty of cardio and HIIT equipment, as well as lots of space between machines allowing you to workout without feeling crowded. Has everything you need and more. Definitely recommend it for only $10 a month with yearly contract. I transferred from Jersey Strong because it was $30 a month and Crunch seems to be a better gym at 1/3 of the price.

Gym is nice. Jacuzzi has broken down once or twice now but they seem to get it fixed within 3-5 days it seems like. I wish there was a steam room. Overall not bad for the price and I get to bring two friends with me when I want. I pay $35 a month but could have only paid $30 but I added on an extra feature.

The gym is good. New and clean but the lady at reception is rude. Besides the wifi ain’t working

I LOVE this gym! I am a former member of NYSC in the area. I have also been a member of Equinox in Paramus and Summit. Hands down Crunch is the best overall experience. The culture is fun and makes working out feel like play time. From the endless weights and available machines to the hit center and turf you’re never without something to do at Crunch. The marketing is engaging as well as energetic with motivational quotes adorned on the walls wherever you turn. Beyond that I really enjoy the Hydro Therapy beds before and after working out to relax and recover. Nick the manager is great. Welcoming everyone in with a smile. Head down and see my friends Kathy and Derek to sign up today!

This gym is beautiful! All new equipment, nice floors, nice lighting, plenty of treadmills and stair steppers. Really liked the squat rack areas. They are waiting on a few remaining pieces of equipment but this is the nicest gym in the area.

  • 5/5 Mihir P. 3 years ago on Google
Great equipment and staff however there are some essential equipment that still needs to be added and Wi-Fi is still missing / not setup. That being said I will leave a 5-star rating - I will give it till March for all the proper equipment to be added, Wi-Fi installed and set up for guests - other than that the gym and start up is phenomenal- staff has been great too except some weird looking staff members walking around like a Covid zombie - instead of walking around why don’t you clean the equipments - some short blonde that looks like a CWD

New facility with decent equipment. Spacious enough where people can be distanced at ease. Only wish people would return weights more proactively and have more clocks around. Some receptionists are friendly some just wanna be on their phones all the time.

It is ok. The staff isn't too friendly. The machines are OK but not a great variaty. It's pretty clean and some of the members were nice.

  • 1/5 Lui G. 4 years ago on Google
I am an active member. I'm about to change gym for the following reasons. Treadmills are almost always broken or out of order, old and TV screens do not work. Yesterday half of the machines didn't work, the sink never has soap, the showers have mold and dirty the locker room

  • 1/5 Me R. 3 years ago on Google
I signed up once online and have been getting non stop calls since. I even blocked one number and they managed to call me on another number. Stop harassing people to join!

  • 3/5 Joe A. 4 years ago on Google
Decent gym, my problems are the class schedules and cardio machines. Half the treadmills are broken and have signs saying they'll be repaired. The number grows every day and they're never fixed. Unless it's late night, it's hard to get one during good hours.. My bigger complaint is the punching bags in the stretching room. They're the main reason I signed up, but one thing they failed to mention is you rarely have access during the classes, which are all the convenient hours assuming you work. I sit in a corner facing away from the class making no noise yet half the instructors kick you out for whatever reason. You're 10 ft away from someone and going light, there's no liability risk and the class.drowns out any noise. Had they informed me this is how it works, I never would've signed up. The staff are great otherwise especially the front desk girls and the janitor Jeremiah, but for the price you pay, I don't consider this gym worth it.

The gym here in East Brunswick is amazing. The pool, sauna, free weight section is very neat and clean. The staff there is very helpful and friendly. I recently started back in the gym and Eli signed me up for a membership with a $0 enrollment fee. I then asked for information on personal training and he brought over Brian who went over my weight and body fat % for free. I ended up saving money on personal training as well as a membership and I feel amazing and can’t wait to see my results!

I have been looking for gyms in the area and I spotted ESPORTA. The gym is very clean, they have a great swimming pool, the kids klub is very appealing as well. The Kids klub area is very cute and my kids love the staff in there. The staff in the gym is all respectful. Brian the director of personal trainer helped me reach my goals by signing me up for a 1x a week personal training program which I’ve been doing since September and I’ve noticed changes in my body. I’ve trained with him, Mike and Justin so far. They are all amazing and the gym has great prices for everything.

Machines are constantly out of service..for weeks to months..& bathrooms need to be tended to more often.

This gym has everything it needs. Good amount of equipment. The sauna runs at an almost steady 175 degrees, the hot tub and the pool are also in good shape. Overall a very good gym.

Great hot tub jets. Too much chlorine thins bathing suits in 2 months! Burns eyes.

I've only been going here for a year and I loved it. However within the past 6 months the quality of the gym have went way down beyond my expectations. The equipment broke while I was using it, the mens bathroom are always filthy, moldy and stalls are always gross. This gym have really discouraged me to work out.

Decent gym. It’s fair, not outstanding in anyway. The weights are usually in their place which is great. People and current staff are very friendly. The men’s sauna is usually strong, not weak like other places. Lockers are somewhat clean and kept, not outstanding in anyway. However, the stair machines and treadmills are forever down and in need of servicing. Hard to find an open one that is working especially during busy times. .
