It's a nice little zoo. 2sday and Wednesday after 2pm it's free. It's not as big of course as say, Bronx zoo. There's far fewer "interesting" animals. (You ain't gonna see tigers, penguins, dolphins, sharks and lions) things like that.. but you can see a lot of small animals, some pretty exotic. It's a great place to bring kids, the reptile house is amazing, there's a little cookery in the middle where you can order some fast food, and buy gifts. There's also a very nice animal feeding and touching zone. Sheep, goats, ponies, duckies. You can even buy some pellets for 50c to give to them. Kids love it. Overall, a great zoo. There's a beautiful leopard right now at exhibition.

I saw a review on yelp or something that said "it's the largest small zoo ever" or something like that, the person was right! You know it's small going in but it doesn't feel small when you go around. They've They've maximized their space and put of a lot of interesting creatures in there. Even though some were asleep it was very cool to see some things I've never seen before...and I've been to plenty of zoos in my lifetime. They've got animals from a lot of different continents - North and South America, Africa, and Asia...can't recall if they've got from Europe and Australia. Definitely none from Antarctica so no penguins or anything like that but don't worry, you don't miss them! They also have a nice outdoor space, a lot of flowers and trees, it feels like you're walking through a park. I really loved this visit! Also, the price is fantastic! $10 adults, $6 kids! Oh, very important to note - entrance is on clove road not on Broadway!

I truly enjoy this little zoo, my kids had so much fun going there and every time we come back the zoo looks better and better. I follow the zoo on social media and it was so nice to see their live videos during the pandemic. The restaurant has so many choices and the prices are affordable, the staff is so helpful and nice. The tickets are cheap and every Wednesday after 2 pm is a donation to get in. We did reservations on line and it was super easy. Love this zoo and will come as much as we can this Summer. :)

Nice, small zoo with reptilian exhibits. The children's section has Chuck, the groundhog who was hiding. There's a lovely aquarium section, a small fox section. (They are smaller than I expected.) A really good place to bring children. They have free admission on Wednesdays.

Been here many times and it's always as if I just seen the animals for the first time. I love the look of the bat cave and my favorite animal is the fennec fox. The staff is either super busy or very friendly. Although some exhibits were taken down for maintenance, it was still as enjoyable as ever. It's even better when we are with our children. My son is under a year and was still able to smile at the magnificent animals in front of him. I loved this place since I was young and will continue to love it. P.S- due to the pandemic, you must register online for certain time or else they will sell out of their max capacity quickly. Luckily this didn't happen to my family and I and the woman who was working the entrance was very kind. She looked for availability and accepted cash but mentioned in the future that we could pay online and reserve our time there. Thank you for that, my family truly appreciated the time spend there.

What a great day we had. Super affordable with FREE parking! The kids loved it and so did we. Just big enough to not be overwhelming. Great exhibits and very clean. They also have a petting zoo which is a few dollars extra but the kids enjoyed it. You can feed the other animals for 25cents. We always have a nice time when we go.

Really nice small zoo. The bats exhibit was very cool and a must see! My toddler was fascinated by them. It's great all the indoor areas are easily accessible for strollers or little toddlers while also being nice enough for teens/kids.

I guess it’s a good place to take kids under 5! The exhibits where the animals are were all dirty I understand it’s a zoo but those poor animals live in filth... The Africa indoor exhibition smelled so bad I could not even go all the way through it ( even though I had a mask on)! There were hardly any animals there at all and I felt so bad for the animals that were there! The few staff members that were there were very polite, but I drove all the way there for nothing! There were several hand sanitizer stations which were good to see but a definite waste of time for me, my son is 10 and was so disappointed from beginning to end.

Took our one year old today and we had a great time. The size of the zoo was perfect for our little one. Everyone practiced social distancing and were wearing their masks the entire time even outdoors. The animals seemed comfortable and happy. Staff was friendly. The bathrooms were clean which is a major plus!!!!

Great outing with kids! There are outdoor animals exhibits and a petting zoo and there is a huge indoor exhibit with many kinds of species and reptiles. There is a big shaded area to eat. The prices are fair. Beautiful plants and flowers throughout the zoo

The zoo is small but perfect for tired adults like me who don't feel like walking around all day. Of course it's nothing compared to our Philly Zoo but I thought the lay out and the look from the outside really doesn't tell you just how many animals they have. I can't wait to go back and try the kiddie koral. We got there closer to closing time and did everything but that. Also it's very relaxing and has a positive atmosphere.

This zoo is the perfect size. Just enough to see and enjoy. Went 1 time and after that, enjoyed it so much, got a yearly membership. My son loves this place so much we just renewed for a 2nd year.

We had our daughter's first birthday party here yesterday and had a blast! We celebrated in their outdoor pavilion. We were nervous about being outdoors in the summer (not a fan of the heat) but its a covered pavilion with fans in the ceiling. We loved our animal specialist, Victoria. She was so kind and patient with our guest both children and adults. We go to see and pet a turtle, a chinchilla and a snake. We ordered the pizza (which was surprisingly really good) that came with the party. We also ordered extra chicken tenders, 2 orders of fries and mac and cheese balls. We had more than enough food. We could have ordered half as much. We had about 37 guests. The party also came with a carousel ride which was fun! But be warned, it was the fastest carousel I've ever been on! I can see why Victoria warned suggested we do it before we eat. The only negative thing is that I wish we had more time. We were having so much fun that the 2 hours really flew by. We did the 2-4 slot but the zoo closes at 4:45. After we cleaned up, there wasnt any time left to walk around. And of course some my guest were late (which can be expected with families with children) so they missed most of it. I think 3 hours would be perfect! Also, you should know that peococks roam around in this zoo and they will come say hi! Lol. But they mostly stood away and were easy to shoo away when they got close.

Thr Staten Island Zoo was a wonderful experience and has a lot of unique exhibits and educational opportunities to offer! The zoo is complete with a cafe which has a nice selection of American cafe food, with plenty of outdoor and indoor spaces to eat. This zoo would be a great visit for children, especially to learn about different animal habitats and conservation efforts. It is also a great visit during the day for adults too! I would recommend a visit if looking for places to go in Staten Island, as the zoo has a lot to offer for it's smaller size!

Super good place! I went there with my 18-month baby she loved it, not a lot to walk walk, but very much to see! They have a farm with horses, sheep and much more, a large room with all kinds of snakes and reptiles, an African jungle with a lot of monkeys foxes, and a kangaroo too! There are nice grounds and picnicking places on premises, with a big Free parking lot! Go there you will enjoy it!! Have fun!!!!

Cute and small. But like really small. You can walk the entire thing in 15 min. But they do have a sheep/pig feeding area that’s super cute and the kids can go and groom sheep. And they have a little mini cafe. Not that expensive. Expect to pay 7-10 dollars each meal

Absolutely loved it!!!!!! What a fun day. This is good for toddlers and small children, because it's not too big, but has enough animals to keep children entertained and curious. My daughter kept wanting to pet the sheep and trying to catch the peacock. And I think, it's something that can never get old for them, you can revisit and it will still be 💯 interesting!!!!

We loved it from the first sight! There is a lot of animals, we didn't see anywhere like cassowary, anteater, different bat's and other, we were impressed with 4 huge water tanks with fresh and sea water. Unfortunately now not all attractions are working and only back entrance, but there's enough spots on free zoo parking across the street

A wonderful small zoo with lots of animals. The parking lot's entrance is earlier than gmaps' suggested way, part attention to the 'zoo parking' shield. The parking is free. The zoo has a little shed for your cooler bag, it is located at the birthday tent. The zoo is nice, well but not very well maintained. They have an online map, which can come handy if you visit the zoo for the first time. There are peacocks wandering around :)

We had a wonderful visit. Although the grounds are smaller than most zoos, from the minute you enter through the gates you are in a different world. The design is first class. At all times you believe you are far away at an exotic destination. Both the indoor and outdoor areas are well-maintained - no distracting litter or signs of aging or need of repair. Among the indoor exhibits are a "reversed" day area, where through the use of lighting bats are made to think it is nighttime and are active for us to enjoy. The huge tropical fish are very enjoyable - you can even catch your reflection in the window and feel like you are swimming with the fishes. The cafeteria was well-kept and a variety of condiments abundantly available. And best of all, there is free, fenced-in parking across the street, adjacent to the entrance on Clove Road.

I recently visited the Staten Island Zoo and had a fantastic experience, discovering that it’s a place to admire animals from afar and an interactive haven for kids and adults. The diverse range of animals and well-maintained exhibits made the day truly enjoyable. One delightful surprise was the opportunity to feed ponies and alpacas, adding an extra layer of hands-on fun to the experience. The educational programs and animal presentation were entertaining and informative, making it a perfect outing for families. The zoo’s commitment to conservation and animal welfare shone through in their effort to create naturalistic habitats. The beautifully landscaped grounds and interactive exhibits make Staten Island Zoo a great destination. It was heartwarming to see the care and attention given to both the animals and the visitors. Overall, the Staten Island Zoo offers a memorable and delightful day out, combining education, conservation, and interactive experiences that make it a must-visit.

Love this cute little zoo! We love to go feed the animals and especially hang out at the petting zoo. Some of the sheep there aren’t the friendliest, but on of the volunteers named Sarah calmed the animals down. I got to pet the ‘meanest’ sheep named George! He’s gorgeous and honestly pretty sweet. Not for little kids or men though- he doesn’t like them.

Such a fun place to bring the kids! It's a smaller zoo, but still has a variety of different animals. During "normal" (non-pandemic) times, there is an area where the kids can feed some of the animals. There are indoor areas, which are now open and picnic tables to enjoy a snack or lunch.

Small but informative zoo that has habitats for multiple reptiles, aquatic animals and mammals from all over the world. It takes about a hour to walk around . Childrens exibit lets the kids pet goats and ponies. Recently added a carousel and a leopard exibit. A few peacocks roam aimlessly and squawk if you get too close. Ten bucks to get in and free parking directly across the street .

Hidden little treasure near NYC! Not packed, great price for big families. Has a lot of animals!!! They had dancers and shows and alot of people dressed in costumes and interacting with the kids, friendly staff and alot of spooky decorations. They had snacks and great places to take photos, would have been great if this was available for daytime as well. Dress up in costumes!

From someone who used to live in the Bronx near the zoo, the Staten Island Zoo is smaller than expected. It's nice to roam around on a good day tho. Might be better if they have interactive activities so people, especially kids, can enjoy the visit more.

A lot packed into this smaller sized zoo. Indoor exhibits are well laid out and interesting. Smaller kids area is charming, there's also a carousel ride. A venerable Staten Island memory for generations of children.

The zoo is fun for all ages and the food court have great prices and the food was fresh and taste good. The reason why it's a three star because almost half of the exhibits were not available or the animal was not there.

The kids absolutely loved this zoo. The staff are amazing and helped our future veterinarians have real interactions with the animals. I'm going to have to start an Alpaca 🦙 ranch my kids fell in 💕.

It's not the biggest zoo. Good selection of animals but don't expect Lions or Elephants. Good for younger children. Allow 2 hours.

The entrance fee felt a tiny bit steep in relation to the size of the zoo, but it's for a good cause. The place and the animals seem to be in good shape and the display design allows viewing the animals well.
