I used to love this place. I would order food and drinks while I studied. I was a regular, and I would bring my friends along. It was great because there aren't any nice coffee places open late around here, but The Coffee Bar was the one exception. They used to close at 10pm and as a busy college student, this was perfect. Now they close at 5pm, making them no better than any other coffee place around. I'm incredibly disappointed in these hour changes, as well as the majority of their customers, as they were also busy college students. Reducing the hours was a terrible business move, as their previous hours was what separated them from other coffee shops.

The guy shut down for months for “renovations” only to remove every chair besides the bar and outdoor seating and it’s winter, he replaced the tables with shelves for tea and cookies, this is idiotic will never ever come here again

I hadn't been to the shop for a while but was disappointed on my latest visit. This used to be one of my favorite places to grab a coffee and a snack and chill/clear my head for a little bit. But all the tables are gone and the store now just sells speciality food. Also annoying was the store doesn't accept cash anymore. Coffee is still pretty good but its doubtful I'll stop by much anymore.

This place could be cute but they need to fix a lot of stuff. They need to add the their food items, they don't have enough of a selection. Also I have been there several times, it is always very dirty. I got there one morning first thing when they opened, the floors definitely had not been cleaned. Not only is there stains on the floors and walls but there were crumbs all over. The leather chairs need to be updated. It's obvious they are short staff but they should at least have some sort of cleaning service. The coffee is okay, there are much better places to go.

Open later than most other cafes around Rutgers - if you’re a student, they have loyalty punchcards! The barista was very kind and conversational. She recommended the Irish Cream flavor and it was really good in an oat milk latte! Will come here again soon to study :)

Giving two stars for the recent changes in the business. Before the changes I'd give 6 stars! Now that there are only shelves with goodies and practically no seating, the owner can easily make it better by providing table seating between rows of shelves, adding a little privacy and making cozier seating areas. Before the change, this place instantly became my go to spot - open late, plenty of seats, free wifi, bathroom, wonderful staff! I would pay top dollar for coffee and baked goods just to spend some time there. The place does lack a bit of coziness, as it feels as a deli. If this spot is not making enough, maybe the owner should implement a strategy to bring in more customers in, not detract existing customers, and be different from other cafes. Now I also go to Starbux instead, which is also open on Sundays. Hope to see a revived return!

Well, what can I say? Relocation from Metuchen and expansion of the cafe just made it better. The place got bigger, available to a wider audience, interior was is made in a clean contemporary style, yet it retained the original cozy feel it had in Metuchen and you can definitely say that Ben put his heart and soul into it. The same he does with every cup of coffee you get here. It's simply great. And on top of the coffee you get plenty of options on the food and pastry menu. If you are visiting or driving buy, make sure to stop and grab a coffee of your choice, and if you are local, this has to become your new favorite coffee spot.

Fantastic customer service and great coffee! Definitely worth a try and I will be back!

Went to The Coffee Bar at 8:20am on 3/19. It was empty. We ordered two lattes and two croissants, $22! Lattes and food was average at best. We sat down for 30 minutes, while we waited for our dog to get groomed nearby. Reason for the low rating, it was absolutely filthy! If it was filthy in plain sight, what the heck does it look like behind the counter/in the back. They were only opened for just over an hour, and it was filthy! First time, last time.

I was really disappointed. I walked in first thing in the morning on a Saturday. This was only my second time being here. I come every time I get my car worked on next door. But the employee working was not very attentive. When we entered, she wasn’t there to take our order. After waiting a while she came out from the back. Then when I ordered a smoothie she informed me the blender wasn’t working… I just don’t think she wanted to deal with fixing or using the blender… bummer. I was excited to try a new smoothie flavor!! In my previous visits, customer care was eh… ok I guess. The chai tea was good. I got a protein cookie that was good. Chicken salad sandwich is my fav. ….. hoping to try more of the smoothie options!!! I’m not a coffee drinker.

Coffee is fabulous. However, there's always something.misding (bread, peppers, etc) been here 4 times, at different times of the day and we weren't able to get what we wanted, always lacking something . Not recommended to eat.

The server/cashier was attentive and gave us good information on drink options and helped us choose drinks based on our preferences. Would definitely come back to the coffee bar!!

Although a bit pricey, the coffee here is (at least, to me) of a very good quality. They offer a wide variety of drinks (my favorite to get here is the dirty chai, hot or iced) and some typical café food offerings. Perhaps the most impressive part of this café (which is nothing to scoff at) is their impressive interior. The space is very well designed, nothing feels cheap or cramped, the bathrooms are generally kept in pristine conditions, and there are many tables with outlets that make doing work and having meetings in there a very comfortable experience.

Great addition to the Milltown area, located in the Target shopping center on Ryders Lane. Lots of excellent coffee options both hot and iced. Desserts, snacks and a large cold drink selection for non coffee drinkers available as well. Plenty of seating inside and out. Friendly staff and convenient hours. Make sure you grab a loyalty card - buy 9 coffees get the 10th free.

Coffee drinks are good, the place is clean, there are very few food items! Snack baskets have been empty last 3 times I went, they must be doing away with those - good place for just coffee, eat before you go

Excellent Illy coffee, in fact the only Illy place around within about an hour driving radius. Major positive here is the place's size and number of tables, there are many. You won't find yourself standing, unless you want to. Illy also sets the industry's flavor standard, and my espresso did not disappoint. That, and a chocolate biscotti will put you in a good mood for the rest of your day. The only miss was an empty selection of snacks at 5pm; that would have earned it five stars for sure.
