For a service area that is "taking extra precautions" by "enhancing their cleaning and disinfecting procedures", I'd hate to see what it looked like before COVID-19. Half of the women's bathroom (the clean part) was blocked off. The other half was thoroughly disgusting. I spent an hour in the restaurant seating area. I went into the bathroom before sitting, and walked out. Before leaving (an hour later) it had not been touched. I was not even there when it was especially busy.

We pulled up and immediately was greeted with a con artist trying to get ten bucks from us with the oldest trick in the book, I am traveling from Boston to NYC and I lost my wallet, and I need ten bucks. Well, honey you are well south of NYC, and sorry, we don't have cash. Other than that it was fine, we used the men's room and bought some food from Burger King, nothing was made to order, you just selected food out from a rack under a heat lamp. If you need a restroom break, Sunoco gasoline, or a quick bite, this place works, but you are not going to make it a destination.

This establishment, Joyce Kilmer Service Area at 8 North NJ Tpke in East Brunswick, has its advantages and disadvantages based on my personal experience after visiting it. Advantages: - There’s a Starbucks!!! - Frozen Yogurt vending machine. Kids love it. - Clean Restroom. - Great massage chair. - No need to pay additional toll while resting. Disadvantages: - Burger Kings is a little not welcoming. - Limited food options. Would I recommend this place? Maybe. Would I come back in the near future? Probably not.

I was sleepy so I pulled over to take a nap. Felt unsure about sleeping in the car but nothing happened to me thank Goodness. Nice area with hot dog restaurant and convenience store. I would come here again to try the food. I already ate a snack at WaWa so I wasn't hungry. I slept for and hour and a half, in my car.

An establishment that provides nice short breaks with limited dining seats, has clean restrooms, Starbucks coffee, Nathan Hotdogs, Burger Kings, and some vending machines. Check on the massages chairs on the sides of the dining area, and relax. The gas stations always has long lines but delivers quick service. The Tesla Supercharger, EV charging stations are available for supercharger speed. Get in get out as fast as you need, as long as they open and clean, who cares of how old are the building.

Sunoco gas, Starbucks coffee, Nathan‘s, ice cream, convenient store. There are so many people that stop by here the bathrooms are not always spotless, but in all fairness it is a rest stop.

Clean bathrooms, gas station was fast. AVOID POPEYES LOUISIANA KITCHEN! I ordered the chicken tenders, and let's just say they were everything but 'tender.' They were so thin; I thought they were auditioning for a role in a Chicken Tenders Thin Edition movie. These poor tenders seemed to have spent more time under a heat lamp than I've spent binge-watching my favorite shows. I suspect they've been rehearsing for a Broadway show called 'The Longest Roast.' The tenders were so overcooked that I'm pretty sure they broke a dental floss record. These tenders were so dry, I felt like I was participating in the Sahara Desert Eating Challenge. Even the ketchup refused to accompany them, probably out of sheer self-preservation. If you're into poultry jerky, these are your golden nuggets. And don't get me started on the Mac and Cheese; it was like the forgotten sidekick in a culinary tragedy. It must have also sat under a heat lamp for a considerable time, trying to achieve the perfect imitation of a cheesy brick. If I wanted my mac and cheese to be this 'aged,' I'd ask it for investment advice.

Great rest stop. Well-designed. Clean, tidy, well-maintained bathrooms. The only reason this isn't a 5 is because the toilet paper was the absolute worst. Both getting it out from the dispenser and actually using it was dreadful and way more stressful than it should have been. If y'all can afford to make the place look great and clean, please pay a little extra for sturdier TP.

Stopped here on the way home from Philly. This place is very clean and well maintained. The bathrooms were impeccable. There are multiple food options like Nathan’s, Shake Shack, Dunkin Donuts, and A Plus (kind of like a 7 Eleven if you’ve never heard of them). Was my first time trying Shake Shack and it was sooooo good. The service was great too! All smiles and professional. Overall nice place to stop to rest or eat.

Beautiful service area with restaurants like Shake Shack, Popeyes, Dunkin and more. Feels very clean and modern. Can grab a salad in the convenience section too if you're looking for a healthy quick bite.

My stop at the Joyce Kilmer Service Area was a delightful break during my journey. The facilities were clean and well-maintained, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a great meal at one of the food outlets, and the variety of options available made it easy to find something for everyone in my group. The restrooms were spotless, which is always a plus during a road trip. Overall, it was a pleasant and convenient place to take a break, and I would recommend it to fellow travelers.

Clean, modern, a good selection of vendors. The new building was done well. The froggy garbage cans by the main entrance are fun. Covered outdoor seating is a great idea.

We stopped for a rest stop and fuel in November 2023. Clean restrooms, plenty of shops for items needed. Food options seemed pretty good.

Yummy food @ Sbarro. We had spinach stromboli and baked ziti. Very fresh, seasoned well. Friendly staff, although the cashier could have been a little more polite. She seemed indifferent. Not really an issue. Rest area was clean. A bit pricey, but that is always expected at a rest area.

Even the potholes have potholes. Could do serious damage to wheels and tires. Building and lot are undersized for the number of people there on a Monday morning. Would not want to stop here on a weekend or holiday.

The staff here is nice and they wet vibrantly cleaning. The people volume was huge and they worked hard to keep up!

The bathroom was clean enough for a truck stop restroom, but the rest of the interior was practically a ghost town with everything from the Starbucks to the tourist shop shut down after midnight. The gentleman who was working the Burger King heat lamp buffet (the only food service open) had French toast sticks and hash browns at the ready for $10. I asked for a syrup packet for my hours old entree, none was available. Gotta love|hate the NJTurnpike 😑

Nice selection of foods to choose from. Most staff members were friendly. Bathrooms were in decent condition.

It's a rest stop off of the NJ trunpike. Food is expensive and the place is crowded. But they have bathrooms which is what we needed. Not the cleanest rest stop but sufficient for our needs. Considering it was showing 101 degrees on my cars thermometer outside, anything with aire conditioning was welcomed. Stop here if you must, but don't expect a relaxing experience.

Newer, but much smaller sized compared to earlier version. Wish it stayed as big as before with newer renovation. European style suits in Europe. American style must be different and must be big & huge. It seems much crowded now compared to before renovation.

Clean bathrooms, laid back folks, looked to be a good variety in their food court. 1 drawback, the hot pretzels were covered in grease, didn't even taste like butter. When I asked for a pretzel without butter, not only did they try to ignore me but refused to refund my money. Moral of the story is not to buy pretzels at Joyce Kilmer Travel Plaza !! Apologies, no pictures =(
