I was visiting New Brunswick and found this place on George Street, a street full of eateries. We ate indoors, but there outdoor seating was tented with live music! The indoor atmosphere was slightly upscale, but had a nice casual ambiance. The buffalo cauliflower was deliciously crispy. I got a chicken and waffle slider as well as a bacon cheeseburger one. Both protiens were tender and the food came out hot. My fries were well seasoned and our waitress was very attentive. What really gives this place 5 stars is their donuts. They have homemade donuts in like 10 different flavors. We tried the french toast, smores and the blueberry. They were all tender and fluffy and most importantly delicious. I would go back just to get donuts.

I used to come here when the restaurant was Tumulty’s. I’ve been to Tavern maybe once before my most recent trip and the food was fine. However, this time it was really disappointing. Anything we ordered that had cheese was not good. It was almost like someone melted the cheese hours ago and popped it on our food just before it went out. Almost like when glue is about to dry. Our nachos didn’t even have all melted cheese. The top layer was like the glue and then it was sprinkled cheese in the middle. My burger sliders had cheese like goo. There are so many good places to eat on George Street, so you can skip this one for something else.

I would definitely recommend this Tavern if you are in the area. Right on George Street, there is no car traffic in this area of George St. We only stopped in for drinks, but the food looked amazing. I will definitely be back for the food. Drinks were made perfectly, and the atmosphere was amazing. Love that they have a downstairs area as well. Look forward to going back.

Food is quite average. We have been twice and tried their sandwich, burger, calamari fries, sliders, taco. Nothing special about any of it. Korean BBQ taco tastes better than the others. But they have really good in-house beer . The service is also Swift and good. The atmosphere is Tavern-like with live music, game on TV and people talking loudly.

We had dinner & drinks before a show at George Street Playhouse. The meals were delicious & reasonably priced. The waiter was very friendly. It was a cold night so we didn't have too far to walk. Enjoyable meal-would recommend.

The outside appearance is a bit deceptive. This is a nice pub/bar/restaurant. Saw the sign about live music on the sidewalk in the afternoon, went in to inquire, and the woman behind the bar gave me a reservation for the same evening. I told her I was one person and didn’t want to take up a table that they could seat more at. She said that made no difference. The live jazz was great (I was there on a Tuesday night), and the service couldn’t have been better. All I ordered was wine, and my waitress insisted that was fine, even though they were crowded. Not many places are this accommodating! I never felt rushed, and of course tipped heavily as I knew she/the tavern could have made a lot more with four people at that table. I would go back in a heartbeat.

Haven't been to this place in years so my friend and I decided to go for a meal. The food was OK and we had to go downstairs in the basement because there was an event happening upstairs. Overall if you're in a jam and need a place for food this will do.

My first restaurant outing during the COVID-19 pandemic. They have a great setup outdoors. Plenty of space between tables. Had the sliders which included bacon cheeseburger, pulled pork, and a chicken and waffle sandwich. Tasty sliders, the syrup is a must with the chicken and waffle sandwich. Will recommend for easy and traditional comfort food and burgers.

I visited on a weeknight for dinner, it was a cool-looking pub, with immaculate vibes. I ordered the southern fried chicken sandwich and the fish and chips, both of which were good. However, I felt like the prices were a bit high for what we received, though I do understand that food prices can be expensive in 2023. On the other hand, the donuts were delicious and reasonably priced, making for a perfect way to end our meal. Overall, if I'm in the area again, I would definitely stop in for another visit.

Excellent establishment! Stopped in while in town for work and was pleasantly surprised to find this gem. Mid-week not overly busy, up and coming live jazz band in the main dining room, solid food selection and fresh beers. Glad I found this place and looking forward to returning again soon!

Great spot for lunch in New Brunswick. Especially if you work in the area or are there for business or court. Interior atmosphere is a cozy old world tavern with some modern amenities. Fantastic spot to eat!

I visited the restaurant yesterday 12/2 around 1pm. The restaurant was not busy so we were seated quickly. Service was good! I ordered the Reuben Sandwich. Food came out quickly and it was tasty !

This is a college town but this isn't your local college bar. This place is more for the civilized world where adults come to gather for brews and some meat and potatoes straight for Ireland. Go here to have a great time and leave your worries behind. We made reservations for 50 people on a Sunday at 7 pm. Kudos to staff and everyone involved for being able to accommodate such a large group at the last minute plus everyone ordered a la carte and the food came out of the kitchen rather quickly. Also, a great place to watch a game or two and lose track of time. Highly recommend this place if you want the luck of the Irish. Not to pricey $$$ so eat, drink and be merry. Cheers!

Nice place for a quick dinner (and those donuts for dessert!!) before a show. Good service, a regular stop when going to the New Brunswick theaters.

My second time here, first was great. This time service was super slow. 3 of us. I get a hair with my bite of burger, and then seconds later my friend gets one in her Rueben sandwich. Absolutely gross. And in 2 out of 3 meals. A shame because the food was delicious and then we couldn’t eat it.

Was there for the first time on St. Patrick's Day with my Bagpipe band. Awesome atmosphere and delicious food. Gracious and accommodating staff and management. Will definitely be going back. My biggest surprised was that No one beat me up after I played the Notre Dame fight song on the bagpipes. Forgot where I was for a second.

My family enjoyed my mothers birthday at TG last night, and it was fabulous. The food is really good. Your standard tavern fare except everything is super fresh. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend especially for jazz night. That was a blast. Thank you for making it a great experience Tavern.

Was there for dinner the day before a family wedding. More of us than they anticipated but handled us well. We had the pub burgers and fries which were juicy and good. Very filling and decently priced.

The hostess was less than hospital the band was great unfortunately as much fun as I did have I was invited there again with two of my friends and respectfully declined we went to the north Brunswick pub and two months later I was so surprised that one person’s unpleasant disposition had stopped me from visiting twice forgot to mention was walking down George street and one of my friends said do you want to pop in here for a drink absolutely not I came in there once with some girls from work and the hostesses told me there was no bar seating when there clearly was I responded by saying that’s fine we understand then we’ll take a table for 5 It progressively got worse told my friend the rest of the story and we went to the bar adjacent a little way down unfortunately it’s sad that one womens behavior is so irreconcilably that although there were no other issues and a good time by all I’ll never spend a dime in there again or let anyone I know either

Drinks and food were okay. The place is very well decorated. The service was decent but our bartender was on her phone when we were trying to call for her attention and seemed bothered.

Great Jazz on Thursday ..food reasonably priced. While other restaurants might not be as crowded it is busy at this location because of Jazz.

Historic building where the old Tumulty's Pub was. Nicely done. Good basic menu, keeping some of Tumulty's favorites, like the wedge salad and the pub burgers. Service was good, and the food was delicious. The place was very clean and the staff was friendly. Live music during the week. Live Jazz downstairs on Wednesday and Thursday.

Below average experience. Fried calamari was soggy and definitely not fresh. The nachos had shredded cheese on top that was not even half melted. Everything was served on paper plates. We weren’t allowed inside because it’s for private parties only. Not my favorite place.

Great experience! We had a reservation thankfully - it was very full even on a Tuesday night. We weren't happy with our initial table due to it being practically on top of the jazz band, but the staff was understanding and moved us to a better seat. Food came out very quickly and the portion sizes were perfect! It was a bit loud, and the chicken "sandwich" is actually a burger, but the prices were great and the location is convenient.

Ordered chicken sandwich, received a chicken wrap. No problem, we let that slide. From there, our waitress didn't check on us even once to see if the food was OK. Couldn't get her attention for at least 30 minutes. The drinks empty for a long while so my wife went to 7/11 for a new drink. Now I just wanted to pay the check and couldn't even get help with that. Finally expressed disappointment when waitress came back and it was "sorry, we're busy" excuses with no real sincerity. I was also told I should have flagged down a different server if I was in a hurry. No, I wasn't in a hurry, I just wanted very minimal basic service. It was NOT very busy. We had a choice of at least 10 different outside tables when we arrived.

We loved our experience there. Celebrated my wife's birthday. Food was good. We had the fish Tacos, which was our favorite. Pulled pork was good too. The music was excellent and I loved how it was outside.
