Qeema paratha - served half cold and too spicy. Nothing close to a paratha. The Gajjar halwa tasted bald . The Mutton Karahi was good and so was the White chicken . Prices seem over the hill. Atmospheric status is 3/10. Service was quick but with no smiles .

Awesome great chai karak! Proper milk tea(dood pathi) we (my wife and I yes we are foodies) tried one of every category on the menu. Garlic Mayo roll , papri chaat, tikka breast , karahi chicken, falooda, and chai with paratha which is super heavy and garlic naan. Also plan to try the halwa poori on Sunday during our stay we are from dfw texas area. Falooda was a treat but only thing is the kulfi was melted they should serve it ice cold with kulfi in tact. But super flavorful worth trying. Chai comes with classic pk biscuit also great with the tea. This place is a must to try a1 in food taste. The service is not great but it’s hard finding good help now since no one wants to work in current times. the decor is great we couldn’t get the floor seat up stairs room due to covid restrictions according to the hostess it’s now only for parties 20 or greater. But restaurant decor is nice. Seems too much but that’s how Pakistan is over the top. Visit was on 7.16.22

Good Pakistani restaurant with awesome ambience. You need a reservation to come to this place. Very limited vegetarian options but good for non-vegetarian. Kashmiri tea is real famous here. Do not take samosas- they are super oily. Overall a good vibe.

Good food and excellent customer service. I visited Chai Chenak from Philadelphia and I have to say it was worth the drive and wait. I reserved my spot as I was told it will be busy and yes it was SUPER busy. Mickey was my server and he was great. He made sure food came in on time and provided excellent service. Food is good and I would highly recommend this place if you love Pakistani food. Service was excellent and everyone working there was polite. Go try it out and share your experience.

We were visiting a friend in New Brunswick over long weekend. Over the period of 3 days we had 4 meals at Chai Chenak. The food is just yummilicious. The masala chai is really good. Our personal favourite was their thali (only served during weekends),balochi tikka, kachori and chicken bun kebab. The aloo served in the thali is amazingly flavourful. The interiors are very thoughtful and brings the desi-vibe to US. We had taken the chicken and paneer rolls to go which were also very tasty and well marinated.

Pakistani restaurant. Food is hit and miss. They would do good spice levels if requested. Service is sparse and on the slower side. The decorations are decent and give a ethnic feel. Naan are good and they serve some decent virgin drinks. Hot beverage options are not good and best to avoid.

One of the best experience I had in NJ. The owner really put his heart and soul to make this place an experience. Food was good and I enjoyed that they put a separate kitchen for cooking main meal so the smoke doesn't come in the dining area. Something other Pakistani restaurants miss focusing on. Only one small tip. Check before ordering Goat Karahai, it may be a lamb meat. I would highly recommend the chai as end. Enjoyed every bit of it.

Heard so much about this place decided to give it a try and really loved it. The interiors are Instagram worthy. Food was delicious, we had the Chicken Karahi ,Chicken Sheekh kababs with kulchas and tandoori Naan , the kababs were succulent juicy and tender. For drinks we got the Mango mohito such was amazing and yes had to try the chai at the end which was the perfect ending. Def will be going back!

Lovely experience. Every desi must visit this place. One of the best chai/tea. I tried pink tea and zafarani tea. Both are delicious and addictive. Chicken pratha roll, yummy. Papdi chat was not that good. Egg burger was excellent. Gol gapey awsome.

Went there for dinner with friends! The food was superb! Food: Ordered Papdi chat, Dahi chat, Paneer Karahi, chicken tikka karahi, charasi karahi, laccha paratha and garlic naan, mint mojito, mango mojito and mango lassi! The food overall was really good and lip smacking! We ordered quite a lot for four people and yet finished the food completely! Service: Really nice and no challenges

Was excited to find this restaurant. I love food from the Middle East. I really enjoy a lot of Indian, Afghan, and Pakistan dishes and tea. I arrived around 4:15 on a rainy Saturday. The place was busy but there was no wait. The service was excellent. Food came out at a great pace. I'm ordered chicken chasri karhai, Aloo Parathas, and masala chai. Everything was excellent and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend eating here. I can't wait to bring my son and daughter they will love it.

Their chai was so good along with the paratha. The only thing I didn’t like was that the staff was very eager to make us leave. Other than that the food was amazing and the paintings and art are so beautiful.

This place is very gorgeous and the vibes are spot on. I will say the food portions are very small for what you're paying for, and very average. The chai is great and comes in cute little servings. The staff and service was fast.

There are signs for an hour table limit. The food does come out quickly though so that’s good. Not sure if the time starts when the food comes or when you sit down. 18% tip added to bills of 3 people or more Gol Gappa came on a cute tray with 8 pieces. The balls did not get soggy too quickly while putting in the liquid which was nice Samosa Chaat was really good. The sauce was nice to dip the naan into afterward too Chicken Sindhi Biryani was a good portion to share with two people. The chicken was kind of dry Charsi Karhai Mutton was saltyyy. The mutton itself was good. Broke easily. Flavorful. The sauce was really salty so when it was on my naan or rice I added some of the cool sauce that came with the biryani or the chaat sauce Garlic Naan came out soft, fluffy, buttery, and very hot. Sooo goood Mango Lassi came out watery which made me afraid but the flavor was there so I actually didn’t mind it the texture was watery

Execllent place for desi food. Karahi was delicious, better than Larree Adda. Seekh kebabs were juicy, malai reshmi boti was tender and tasty. Doodh Patti (chai) was "karak"😍 Ambiance and Decor was beautiful. Prices little high could be better but quantity of food was good. Falooda also is a must try. The Gol Gappay were stale unfortunately. Poori Parathas and naan selections were authentic. Would definetly come back still!

Loved it we went from long island NY, took us 2hours and 50 minutes. Ordered the gappa gotala, and nihari and chicken strips and tikka boti. And the best part were the mint mojittos

Wonderful authentic Pakistani restaurant! A true gem in this area. Karachi style food that is easily the best in NJ. Tried the charsi karhai, the biryani, ben kebab, bbq and ofcourse their chai. All were exceptional! The manager/owners were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure a great dining experience. A must visit on every foodies list! The decor is also done very well! Super fun place to visit.

The food was good. Chaat was too yummy. We really loved the ambiance and decor of the restaurant. It’s so Pakistani…loved the truck art, the flags, the colors…felt like we were back home.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant. It was a great experience. I would recommend making a reservation esp on a weekend. Street parking or there is a paid parking deck across the street on Bayard st ($3.50 per hour). They do have high chairs for kids. We had pani puri, charsi karhai, sindhi chicken biryani, aloo paratha and falooda. Everything was really delicious and tasted fresh. The customer service was really good. They do add 18% gratuity by default which I thought was a little too much.

We finally got to try this place after many recommendations from friends and family. I think this place is over-rated and over-priced for the food they give. Don't get me wrong, the food is decent, but the cost is absurd for street food. Their chai isn't that good but they serve it in nice little tea pots. They have a cool set-up and the environment is different compared to other places in the area, but I probably wouldn't come back due to the high cost and okay food.

March 2022 5* Visited the place with my colleague for dinner. We were bit late and reached around 9:45 pm and the kitchen closed by 10:00 pm. I was bit hesitant about the taste. But food is amazing and really loved the service. Will be surely visiting this place again. My food list is as follows: - Chikkad Channy ***** - Sindhi chicken Biryani ***** - Garlic naan ***** - Butter naan **** - Afghani Kawa ***** The place is decorated with Pakistani art and has nice ambiance. The restaurant is accessible and good place if you need extra space. Also washroom are clean and accessible.

My family and I often come here! We go to many Pakistani/desi places and this is definitely one of the best! The food, service, and vibe is always so amazing. The authentic Pakistani decor really sets the tone for an upbeat and enthusiastic vibe. The kababs and naan are delicious. Staff is always friendly and very hospitable.

Great food, fresh naan and don’t miss out on the Chai & dessert. Complimented by great design and ambience. If you’re on NewBrunswick or Rutgers campus, make sure to give them a visit.

▪️Chai Chenak is a Pakistani restaurant, but with a twist! It is a truck and folk art themed restaurant visibly seen in its amazing vibrant decor and set up. They have all the names of Pakistani cities on one wall and paintings of famous Pakistani famous artists like Amjad Sabri & Noor Jehan on the other wall. There are table seating arrangements on the first floor and lounge floor-seating arrangement on the second floor 🍽 ⠀⠀ ▪️Location is 349a George St New Brunswick, New Jersey (right by Rutgers University). No parking lot so you have to use meter parking or find a spot if you’re lucky ⠀⠀ ▪️Ambiance is 10/10, perfect as it depicts the true rich culture of Pakistan. A big plus is that they are always playing amazing Pakistani music from Coke Studio ⠀⠀ ▪️Price is 8/10. Some items are pricier than others but nothing too extreme ⠀⠀ ▪️Menu is 9/10, amazing reminding you of some of the street-style food you would get from Food Street in Lahore. Aloo papri chaat, various mojito flavors, samosa chaat, chicken rolls, fries, karahi chicken, Kashmiri chai, Doodh pati chai, etc. Follow our insta: @nyc.halal for more halal food reviews!!

Simply the best authentic Pakistani food around, at an affordable price and with outstanding ambience. This is the place to go if you’re looking for both quality meat and food with very high standards. I definitely recommend this location for special occasions like Eid or even a random night out.

Sindhi briyani was good, personally I don't like big pieces in Briyani. Naan and paaratha was soft and mutton balochi Tikka karhai was juicy.. Umair helped us to understand the food for ordering. Recommended to try it out. As it's downtown, parallel Parking is one to take care of.

Best food I had in a while, sitting was fast in a busy weekend, service was fast, prices reasonable and amazing very unique flavor. Didn’t feel like the generic south East Asian food, it was so warm and full of amazing Pakistani spices, very hard to describe but so so good!

Ambiance: 5 stars. Beautiful decor. Clean environment. Upstairs has place to sit on floor. Service: 3 stars. Waiters don’t really seem to care too much. He was borderline rude while taking the order. Never once asked if we needed anything else. Overall service is subpar. Since gratuity is included waiters have nothing to lose. Food: 2 stars. Kabobs were extremely spicy. I love spicy food but this was painfully spicy. Instead of enjoying we were sipping water after each bite. The achari gosht didn’t taste one bit like achari gosht. It was heavy tomato based and tasted sweet with lots of spice. Doodh patti (milk tea) tasted like they used rotten milk. Probably was cooked in the morning and they just warmed it up. Meat is Halal. Sign clearly displayed which is a plus. I do not recommend this place.

Best place to have chai in New Jersey. Chai will always be served in traditional way with pots and its amazing to have chai. Except chai, the food is always average. I love the karachi style bun with daal but samosas and veg handi was average…. There is no vegetable biryani here which was disappointing…. Food was ok but chai was amazing… Nice ambience and you ll get some good pictures here…. Only allowed with appointments and also they rush you if you go towards the closing time. So please plan to take earlier appointments…

Great place, definitely worth a visit! For starters, their pani puri is very tasty, their Kashmiri chai is great too. Also had the chicken garlic mayo roll, which was perfect, not too saucy and the chicken was well marinated with just enough flavors. Their chicken karahi is very tasty, full of spices flavor and a smoky taste at end, good for three people. Chicken Makhani handi is sweet and it was okay. Tried the Sindhi biryani too, the biryani was okay, not that flavourful, a bit dry. For desserts we tried the shahi falooda, that simply stands up to the hype. Overall a great place for a good meal! The interiors are pretty. The staff service could be better though. Recommended to go with a reservation.
