Every one can visit this museum for sure and free. Guys at front information desk is so welcoming and helpful. Staff around are supportive. Coming to museum art display I personally liked majority items. Starting from kids gallery to Russian artist display. Most of the art types are first time for me to see and understand. Overall it’s good museum with all facilities in 2 floors. Photography is allowed. There is enough parking behind the building for visitors to park. We visited on Sunday and it’s not much crowded.

Had a fantastic time this past weekend. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. The art and the space itself are amazing. The Angela Davis exhibition currently on display was particularly moving. All this and admission is free! I highly recommend visiting I'll definitely be back.

Very well laid out art museum on the campus of Rutgers university. I loved the Russian exhibit I'm a big fan of that style of art. I'm not sure if there's a parking lot because I ended up parking in the street and paying the media but it was ok because itself was free

Good medium-sized art museum. Permanent collection is about half "non-conforming" Soviet art. Current temporary exhibit (Segal) is very good.

really fun place to visit, and has quite an assortment of art from various periods/styles. they have a lot of events, be it geared towards families and children or professionals looking to attend a symposium. it’s worth looking into even if you’re not really an art person, there’s just such variety that you’re bound to find something interesting. there’s a storage room for your belongings and lockers that only require a quarter to loan, so your belongings are safe while you peruse the collections.

I appreciate the free entry, no bags allowed, very Russian heavy? A lot was under construction when I went, felt small, lacked descriptions/context for some of the art

Nice small museum. Interesting collection of soviet art. We took about 1.5 hrs to go through the whole place. But there were no really outstanding pieces when we visited.

What a wonderful gallery! I spent two hours inside and didn't even get to view everything. Very wide array of art! Lots of paintings, sculptures, and more! Definitely coming back again! One of the best galleries I've ever had the pleasure of visiting :)) Also the bathrooms there were super clean

According to their website, “The Zimmerli's American art collection, numbering more than 16,500 objects, includes paintings, sculpture, works on paper (prints, drawings, and photographs), and decorative arts. “ While I have not seen all these objects, I will say that the museum, its staff, and location represent what a museum can be. The exhibitions are usually timely, and represent an array of diversity and art and subject matter which other venues shy away from. They have the largest collection of Soviet era protests art work in the United States. If you are ever in the New Brunswick, New Jersey area consider paying a visit to the Zimmerli Art Museum, located right on the Rutgers University campus.

Such a nice museum. Has different types of art - American, Soviet Non-conformist, Russian etc.. has video installation as well . For the first time, saw "Destructive Art".. also, Art made with help of Nature.. by Jim Toia.. It has restrooms and water fountain inside( bring your own bottle)... On Sundays, it is open from 12-5 pm..

Very well kept art gallery with lots of variety. You can see anything from the fascinating to the concerningly strange. Lots of art, especially Russian, and it looked like the whole gallery was given lots of funding.

If you appreciate art for what it truly is, all are worth visiting. This one is top notch, the displays are beautiful the attending crew is friendly, knowledgeable and well spoken. The exhibits are well done. Be inspired, broaden your horizons. Enjoy the everlasting architecture of the surrounding buildings. Rocks and fossils across the street. Worth the visit

With two Rutgers professors in the family, why have I not been here before! This is a great museum that puts on great, I mean, great shows. We just visited the Russian exhibition for a 30 min visit that turned into 3 hrs. It was incredibly put together and hung beautifully. The descriptions were really excellent at putting each work on context. I felt an especially strong enticement to the works as I have been to Russia and have studied Russian art and culture. After spending three full days in the Hermitage in St Petersburg, I felt a strong connection to the statement of the nonconformist artists. I have been to major shows around the world as part of my bucket list of the world’s great art museums, missing only the Prado thus far, this was the equal to all of them. Rutgers University and the state of NJ should be proud of this museum.

Praise to the Zimmerli Art Museum for the wonderful Stand Up (Brittney Cooper) exhibit! I don't know what I expected but I was wonderfully surprised. Get there before it closes.

Just amazing museum and fantastic Russian art collection worth to be seen several times. I visited Leonid Lamm collection - well done. One of the best personal exhibition.

There's a few gems here, including a gorgeous painting by Hart. There's also the weakest paintings of Bierstadt and Innes I have yet seen. I guess that's something to see in itself. It is not a small museum. Unfortunately 90% of the space is taken up by what is referred to as "modern art". If like myself, you have a more or less conventional idea of what art is, you will not find it worthwhile to come here, unless you live close by. The museum is free, otherwise I would have given it even fewer stars.

I visited this location last Saturday and had a fantastic time ! The museum is very spacious and admission is free which I love. Very relaxing and little to no people which I like. Was not crowded at all. The art is very pretty and relaxing to look at. It is in a great location too! My friends and I will definitely be revisiting again! The only constructive criticism I have is about the staff. I think the staff can improve on hospitality. A few employees were walking past and didn’t say hello. They did speak when they were spoken to like when I said hi but that was it. Other than that I recommend anyone to come here! 10/10 ☺️
