Nice Turkish spot in New Brunswick NJ. The food was pretty good and hit the spot. The inside upstairs was pretty nice too I love all the lamps and lights going up the stairs. The only thing that was kinda disappointing was the waitress wasn’t really good. She had a little attitude and didn’t seem like she wanted to be there working. I still left a $20 tip which I’m sure in these places are nothing special. Parking next to the restaurant isn’t that bad but the streets over here are very small. Kind of like a smaller version of parking in Brooklyn. Whenever I’m in New Jersey I’ll check this place out again. Hopefully they have better waitresses working.

September 2023 5* Visited the place to eat Mediterranean food in New Brunswick. This place is good. I tried Lentils Soup and Veg platter hummus. The food is amazing. The ambiance is nice and well decorated. For a group, you will need order 3 dishes.

Devoured. Excellent food, quick service, real Turkish I am Armenian and I know this food, when I tell you this is good Turkish cuisine. The takeout is quick and great too hit the spot and employees are extremely friendly. 10/10 would recommend. Nice people, clean place, delicious authentic style food 👍👍

For the price you pay for a vegetable dish is NOT worth it the price. They give a little bit of rice then the food is salty w/o enough flavor. All I taste is salt, literally taste like a canned soup. Definitely not going back because I rather eat the pictures on the menu(looks delicious) than to eat the actual food. Looks is deceiving..🤦🏾‍♀️ Unfortunately I pay 15+ a tip now I have to force myself to eat

The food is good and service is awesome. It feels like you are in Istanbul getting authentic Turkish food. The food is good, but not as good as what you get in istanbul. Their baklava and deserts are comparable to what you get in a decent turkish pastry shop.

AMAZING! I got tiramisu and I was expecting the regular mascarpone cream and was I surprised. It reminds me of a cheesecake but not that dense, the cocoa is strong but not overpowering, you get the coffee which isn’t bitter. I will definitely be back to try more.

Very pleasant, pretty, comfortable place with excellent, tasty food and good, unobtrusive service from a nice staff. I met a friend for lunch there that I hadn't seen in a long time and they let us stay there and talk for a good while. Sweet.

The food is worthwhile and quality. The decor is amazing, beautiful, modern and full of culture. It is very comfortable and cozy as well. The table was sticky. Someone missed that task. The waiters and waitresses are warm and helpful. Unfortunately, there was one that waitress who couldn't hide her disdain for having to be friendly in a customer service position. We don't have to be best friends but a customer notices. There was a lovely and sweet waitress as well so the seesaw balanced out. Let's say one was warm and the other lukewarm. I hope this doesn't stop anyone from trying this place because the rest was exceptional.

Good food, little portion of food normally if I can't finish I would take the left over home... It was very expensive. Check out the dishes that I ordered for 2 dishes, and 1 appetizer, $70 .. .. No parking ..busy area.. I love the bread..nice and soft..

The Good Well the restaurant is beautiful. No doubt about that. Stylish in the middle of where you need to be? Looks very accommodating. Two floors sitting area and a really really nice view to the street. My gyro beef was good. Not excellent but good My wife chicken gyro was nice. If I would put it in stars, let's say that my beef gyro was three stars but my wife chicken gyro was two stars out of five The bed? Everything else... The service was very cold Surprisingly.. Middle Eastern hospitality is famous for or very very generous hospitality and accommodation of the hosts. Here it was well. Quite the opposite Sour faces especially from our host which was very disappointing. The hummus was very bland and watery The falafel was horrendous. I never tasted something like this and I hope I will never taste it again. It was bitter really bitter. You went up your throat and just stay there. Took a lot of time and a lot of other stuff to take it out And that means for the taste. You ever try the falafel here and it's your first time you try falafel. Don't get discouraged. Just try it somewhere else. The falafel does not supposed to taste like that The baba ghanous on the other hand was great. Four stars out of five our bill was $74 which is a lot of money for just two people and not a whole lot of food. I wish they will improve because it is a great location with a lot of potential.

We have an amazing experience with EFES in our last lovely dinner. I'm a Mediterranean food lover and it's a great place for people like me. We have explored available turkish restaurants in Central Jersey area and would share EFES as a top rank one. The food tastes really good and especially the dessert will keep you in a nostalgia 😋 Overall the people are very friendly and the ambient offers a feel of quality time with colorful lights! You certainly can plan a enjoyable experience at EFES - just get your plan booked!

I have been to this place today for a pick up and I got the cheese and ground meat borek, now this is something that has to be eaten fresh or it’s just not good. Before ordering I asked if it was fresh to which I was told it was or else I would not have ordered it. When I got home I realized it WAS NOT fresh as a matter of fact the cheese was hard and inedible and if that’s not bad enough there was a hair in it as well. So I called to explain the situation and instead of an apology he was very rude and yelled at me!!! I will not be going back and I don’t think anyone else should either

One of my favorites Mediterranean restaurants around !! Their quality and flavor is always consistent. Items i highly recommend and usually start with are the hummus, I like to add hot sauce to it. Adana chicken kebab over rice with their white sauce and hot sauce for the main. Finish off with classic Mediterranean baklava. A meal that will not disappoint!

Authentic Mediterranean food in the heart of the college town of Rutgers and New Brunswick. You will not go wrong with any of the appetizers or main course.

I took my wife here. She enjoyed her food. The chicken was flavorful and juicy. My dish was delicious. The staff was very nice, very nice ambience. On street parking, I found a spot in a minute. We plan to come here more often. Delicious...

We have only visited the New Brunswick location. Love the atmosphere and all of the wait staff. Our go to is the octopus salad, the liver and some Turkish coffee to top it all off, and they have a wonderful selection of desserts. Too bad I don’t have any food pics.

Great atmosphere, okay food. I read another review that said the sauces looked watered down, it does seem like it. I still would try it again, though.

I was really looking forward to trying this place since it’s close to me and has good reviews. I was so disappointed after ordering the “gyro doner”. I ordered a large without rice and fries and just got it with salad. It came with a 2 pita breads and some red sauce and tzatziki/white sauce. When I got home and opened the bag I was immediately disappointed at the size but still hoped for a win in flavor. Well the disappointment did not end. The meat was very bland and the sauces couldn’t add flavor because they also had no flavor. Both sauces were watered down versions of what they should have been. The tzatziki which should have been the consistency of yogurt was instead the consistency of milk. The salad was very basic. If they added some feta, it could have added some flavor. I spent $20 and still had to take the meat out, add it to a pan, and season it for it to be palatable. This also allowed for some pieces to get a little crispy which made it better. The pita bread was also very dry and needed a decent tzatziki to eat it with. Sadly, this place is a no for me.

Food is really good. I’ve tried the Chicken pirzola and Chicken adaana. They were both really good.

The best Turkish restaurant I have ever been to (and I have been to supposedly the best ones in NYC, Chicago, Houston, & DC). The ground lamb kabob was very flavorful. The mixed dip appetizer was also really great. Amazing tea. Most Turkish restaurants really don't feel flavorful enough for me, but the dishes I had here were all tasty and well seasoned. Nice ambiance as well. It is cozy and charming yet felt like a nice night out.

Delightful restaurant on the second floor. I walked in looking for a gyro but stayed on to taste some delicious food. The chicken and lamb were well marinated and over the top, but salad was overdone with vinegar.

Solid Mediterranean food. Price can range from $20+ to just $10 depending on what you order. They also give you some good bread and dipping sauce as appetizers. Would come again!

Very tasty food, but I’m disappointed with the price and portion sizes. I ordered a lamb kebab and I paid $15 for 4 pieces of meat. It’s good food but it’s pricey and not enough. Update: Efes’ replies to negative reviews seem to be AI generated. If this is true, it just goes to show how much they care about their customers.
