We visited Salt Seafood and Oyster Bar for their happy hour menu which included a $5, $7, and $9 pricing on their menu items and drinks. We ordered an assortment of their items to give their menu a try. Our favorite items included the fish tacos which surprisingly had a great depth of flavor and their calamari that were delicately fried and had great texture. I wanted to love the crab dip more, however, it did not pair well with soft pita wedges. I think the dip needs to be paired with a crunchy chip to create more texture between the soft cheesey dip and the "dipper". I didn't love the rock shrimp as I felt it was too heavily dressed in the buffalo sauce. The tuna and avocado appetizer was very well balanced and fresh - I'd definitely order this again as well. Their cocktails were varied and fun, my friend and I ordered the same cocktail but they arrived at different times and had differing colors, however, the wonderful manager, Chris, came by and had the drink re-made for us! The staff were super attentive and helpful throughout our experience. The restaurant decor is trendy and luxurious without being pretentious. We really enjoyed our experience and would definitely come back again!

Probably our favorite restaurant in New Brunswick. Consistently delicious food no matter what you order. Always great specials as well as regular menu and always fabulous selection of oysters!! Definitely need to make a reservation as they get VERY busy.

As I often do, I take photos of my cocktail, appetizer, and then just start eating and enjoying, forgetting the rest. Salt is, by one, one of the top restaurants in Central Jersey. It’s seafood and fish are fresh and thoughtfully created into amazing dishes. I have never had anything less than impeccable service. Really a terrific place to dine, with either small or large groups. If you live in or are visiting the area, this is a must go to eatery.

Excellent seafood restaurant. Nice raw bar for display. The ambiance is so nice. Service was great. Our waiter was so friendly and was great with our young son. We had oysters and snow crab for apps which were delicious and fresh. My son had fish and chips and it was probably the best I ever had. My husband and I had the tuna and diver scallops and they were out of this world good. Fresh and so tasty. Yummy dessert to end the night. I can’t wait to be back.

I love this place forever and always. It is such a (very busy!!) hidden gem tucked away in New Brunswick but is my absolutely favorite place to dine. The happy hour specials are also especially good, especially the 1/2-priced oysters, the drinks, and all the food. So yeah, everything. For dinner this time, we got the octopus appetizer (AMAZING), and two fish dishes - I don't remember but I always ask the waiters what's good and I have never been disappointed by a recommendation. The fried calamari is always a great pick - it's so unique with those tiny little popping peppers. Crab dip is also amazing, and the BAR FRIES!! We also LOVE the cocktail sauce they give with the oysters and shrimp cocktail. We regularly (shamelessly) ask for extra to take home. The shrimp cocktail are also massive. Every time we come here we probably spend more than we'd like because we want to try new things, but every dollar spent felt very worth it.

This restaurant made a memorable night at my first visit to New Brunswick. 1. Foods: The charred octopus was amazing. It did not taste burnt; it was flavorfully charred, which was further enhanced by the sauce. My 6yo daughter found the decorative flower petal on top of the dish quite entertaining :p We talked about this for minutes lol I ordered a spaghetti marinara for my 2 kids to share as they had a light meal right before the dinner. My 2yo son devoured it with his hands and entire face. My 6o daughter quickly finished it despite being a picky eater. 2. Service: all the staffs whom I interacted with were very kind and nice. I liked that they gave my kids water in a plastic cup with a straw and my little one a high chair. They even gave my kids a paper and a set of crayons for each, which kept them entertained while waiting for foods. Not every restaurant offers such kid friendly service so I was quite grateful. 3. Atmosphere: I loved the vibe. I’d love to come back with my husband for a date night. It felt sexy and beachy. I don’t think there was other kid in the restaurant but mine. I also liked the interior of the bathroom, which was beachy and clean. It smelled nice too. I really liked the salt scrub, hand cream and etc. which was pretty luxurious. 4. Location: it’s conveniently located, right across from the hotel Hyatt Regency. Parking can be a problem if not a hotel guest. However, this restaurant is located in a very cute district with many other fancy bars and restaurants.

Love! The ambiance is so sexy from candles on every table to the oyster bar in the center. Out waitress Natalie, was so helpful and aware. She knew what we wanted/needed before we could even make a request. Now for the food...splendid. the oysters were sooo fresh, the best I've ever had. The cocktails were on point. The crab bisque excellent. The crispy black seabass, so flavorful and unique. The best part of dinner was dessert. The tiramisu was so rich and fresh. Just all out amazing dining at its finest. I am eager to dine again and next time without our littles. I was very pleased

I have not been to a restaurant where every single item is delicious! The service is impeccable and Scott is our favorite waiter. His knowledge on all things Seafood and Oysters is top notch. There are people who have jobs and there are people who truly love service and Scott is that guy. The level of detail in the quality of their menu selections is astounding. We want to bring our friends back because we all want them to experience this high level of delicious food and service.

This is my second time at Salt. I love the African Lobsters grilled soooo good. Portions are small just fyi and its pricey but food flavors and service are great. I love, loved the oysters so yummy!!! Wasn’t thrilled abt the crab dip. I did the like Bass with prosciuto (maybe have spelled that wrong & not fixing it lol). That was good but a little salty from the cured ham. The grilled prawns were delicious and my daughter loved the salmon special of the day. Going back for oysters and wine!!!

We made a reservation and arrived 10 mins before. Our table was not ready and the front desk requested that we wait a bit. Expected a delay of 10 mins to setup the table but it was disappointing that the wait was 35 minutes. The restaurant should have informed us of the delay upfront and not said that they were setting up the table. The start was not great. However, everything else after we got seated turned out to be amazing. Service : Jordan took care of our table along with a few others. He was friendly, attentive and very good at his job. Had a smile on at all times and gave good suggestions about the food options. The rest of the waitstaff were wonderful as well. 5 stars for service. Food & drinks : A fully stocked bar with cocktail options and a good selection of wines. Options for food start with a raw bar, small plates to entrees. We ordered a variety of food and everything tasted good. Our personal favorites were the crab cakes, fries, heart of palm salad and the charred octopus. The clam chowder was yummy. For the main course, everyone who took a bite of the sea bass with risotto loved it. 5 stars for food. Ambience : A fine looking restaurant with a modern and upscale feel. Casual atmosphere with seating by the bar is available as well. A parking garage is across the street which makes it convenient. Pricing : Moderately high but totally worth the spend for excellent food and service. Will I return? : Heck yeah!!! Only reason for the 4 star rating is for the long wait time despite having a reservation. Everything else truly deserves a 5 star rating.

A great seafood restaurant with a cool vibe and awesome food. I got the grouper special with a Caesar salad and a peanut butter brownie with vanilla ice cream. We also got oysters. The grouper was fresh and really tasty. The Caesar had fresh anchovies that were really good. The desert was delicious. The bar is fun and they open up big windows when the weather is nice.

First off thank you to Salt for Opening on Sunday which there usually closed. We dined on Christmas Eve with my wife and daughter. We had two dozen oysters Kumamoto and Bijou which were extremely fresh and delicious. We also had the charred Octopus and the mussels. They both were delicious prepared very well. Main course we ordered the Snapper alla Plancha, Parpadelle with Seafood, and Crab Cakes. All the entrees were delicious and prepared well. Dessert we had the Cheesecake Brulee and Brownie. Thank you so much to all the staff at Salt who made our Christmas extra special. Everything was perfect.

Definitely one of the best oyster bars around the area, and a top tier fancy dinner option (lots of other great fancier options around it as well!). Ambiance is great for formal dinners or dates alike. The halibut was perfectly cooked inside with a nice crisp crust outside. The greens were fresh and perfectly seasoned and grilled. The oyster selection was offered choices both locally sourced and from other great locations. The pasta dish was probably the one thing I wouldn’t order again, the price wasn’t worth what I received.

Attention to details was awesome. The oysters we exactly as described. Got the Softshell Crab special which was so tasty. The Black Skin Sea Bass was moist and tender. The Risotto was so flavorful. Never had an empty glass and dirty dishes were removed quickly.

This place is worthy of my review... Cool place for a date with someone new or your significant other. Great vibe with amazing food. The dishes that we had were so delicious. I had the special with crispy skin salmon and my wife had the gnocchi with lobster & peas. We started with a grilled pear salad and the ahi tuna acacado. The bonus was that they had these cool little lights from Zafferano America on the table... SALT offered a discount on their website if you bought the lights through their website with a promo code. We came home and bought two lights... We thank everyone at SALT for such a great experience and delicious meal.

Jordan was our server and he was absolutely amazing. He went above and beyond as well did the rest of the staff. I have never had such an incredible meal from the staff to the food to the wine selection. The steak was cooked perfectly probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Oyster were so fresh and delicious. I can’t say enough good things we will definitely be back. Absolutely amazing

Impromptu reservation was made for our seafood cravings and we were not disappointed. Our server Scott did a wonderful job taking care of us and steering us in the right direction. We started off with a few drinks - Everleigh Ann and Smoke on the Water. Moved on to some small plates to warm our stomachs up - Oyster Tasting platter, East & West Coast Oysters, Slow Roasted Jersey Tomatoe & Burrata, Charred Octopus, Crab Dip, Cast Iron Crab Cake. We were blown away by how every bite was full of clean, amazing flavors. Next we had our entrees - Seared Diver Scallops, Cast Iron Chilean Sea Bass, "Key West" Florida Grouper. It was impossible to pick a favorite as each were perfectly prepared. Nothing was overcooked. Each bite was moist and melted in our mouths. To finish off our meal, dessert - limoncello Mascarpone Cake and tableside Brûléed Amaretto Cheese Cake. Definitely will come back for special occasions because that was a special meal. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

I was alone and sat at the bar for a drink and light dinner. I was completely ignored by the bartender when I arrived and it was 6 minutes (which seemed like a half hour!) before she even acknowledged me or asked if I wanted a drink. Then, after I did eventually get a glass of wine, I had to ask her if I could order some food. All the time she never gave eye contact and I was not sure if she was even listening to me. This rude behavior continued the entire hour I was there. When business slowed and there were only six of us at the bar and she was less busy, she talked with other employees about popular music and the like rather than attending to or chatting with bar patrons. For the first time in my life I left a tip just below 15% when normally I am an over-tipper (25+ %). So, I left and went across the street and had a great time drinking (and tipping) with Irene and Derrick until they closed. I have a new place: Victorias!! Yaay. Oh, by the way, the food was excellent at Salt. Now, if the service could come even close to that standard.

Food was delicious! Our server was attentive and didn't rush us. I got the Salt Coastal Salad (not pictured), Gnocchi with Lobster and Peas, and the Peanut butter brownie. Hope to be back soon to try more amazing dishes on the menu!

The fish is always cooked to perfection. Nice and moist with delicious seasoning. Another perfect dinner.

Not quite what I expected and so it turned out to be a wonderful first experience. We all had seafood -for appetizers oysters in half shell, charred octopus, and calamari which was prepared differently but still tasty. Each entree we tried was well seasoned, just the right portion yet filling and balanced with carbs and some vegetables. We had cast iron Chilean sea bass, squid ink pasta and prawns, seared tuna and swordfish . Each had a unique flavor that was truly delightful, no fishy taste. Cocktails were likewise great! Unfortunately I didn't take a lot of photos since we were too eager to dig in!! Would definitely come again.

This place is amazing! We came to try the HH and was so impressed with the options. We ordered almost one of everything, but our favorite was the oysters. We ordered an absurd amount, but totally worth it and delicious. If you are ever in the area, you have to try. The Buffalo shrimp was our favorite!

Celebrated our anniversary, and the staff did so much to acknowledge it which was very sweet! They have the best scallops on earth, and the lobster gnocci was also fantastic. You cannot go without getting the mussels as your appetizer! The apple bread pudding was incredible as well. This is my favorite restaurant ever!

Went there with coworkers, total there were 8 of us and we had an absolutely amazing time. The service was excellent. Vibe was impeccable and food was out of this world. I came here about 1 month ago with a few friends and decided to bring a whole group and was so happy I did. The crab dip was delicious and so was the calamari. I got the grouper and it did not disappoint. We loved this place and hats off to the chef, his passion and dedication for food really shows and I really appreciate that. Drinks were excellent too! Love the blue drink I believe it’s the coastal. Anyways, can’t wait to come back here!!!

Great spot for some good quality seafood. I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner and we enjoyed everything we ate. The seafood was all super fresh and was seasoned greatly. My only complaint is that while the waiter was attentive they never refilled my water once or asked if I would like some more.

This place is a tasty treat hidden in New Brunswick. Jordan was an absolutely excellent waiter who really stayed on top of us without being overwhelming. The drinks were delicious and the food was very yummy. I will definitely be returning and will request Jordan specifically.

Please never get rid of your angry tomato pesto sauce it’s my and my bfs favorite every time we come here. So unique and beyond tasty. I like that it changes in dishes like shrimp to crab bc I love crab. Also best oyster selection ever, this is truly my favorite restaurant for holidays and in general. The atmosphere is lovely and romantic.
