We had a wonderful lunch here one afternoon. The decor truly stood out for me. Rustic, cozy, and beautifully Italian with specific decor to make it outstanding. The bread for appetizers was freshly baked and had to hold ourselves back from asking for more, lest we lose our appetite! The basa was fresh although would have liked it to be a bit crisper. Personal preference. The main menu was very well prepared but even better was the dessert. They made it fresh and so we had to wait for a while. Also, this place is BYOB. Perfect place for office lunch

Great Italian place and hospitality. Everything was excellent. Anything that included crab was definitely JUMBO lump. The meatballs are supposed to be rated best in NJ so I actually had higher expectations. Pizza was very good along with other items. Definitely worth a stop and a return trip.

I ordered Fico as an appetizer (gs / mascarpone / pine nuts prosciutto / mango balsamic pearls) I never had it before and it was very good. The chicken Parm was perfectly cooked. I would definitely go back

Hosted a bridal shower at Luca's. It was the perfect space. We were a small group of 16. They were great to work with. Luca called me personally to ensure I was happy with the agreement. The food was great and the atmosphere was perfect for the "Going from Ms. To Mrs." travel theme.

Don’t judge the book by the cover! Location is in a strip mall, unassuming outside decor. But when u go in you are taken to a rustic Italian atmosphere. Friendly service, great food starting with the warm bread crusty on the outside and warm/soft inside. Price though is bit steep for the location.

Overall, I would say the experience was pretty good but I wouldn’t call it anything out of this world. The service was really good, and the food was spectacular. I would 100% recommend the meatballs as appetizers. They absolutely met the hype. My wife ordered the lobster special in creamy white wine sauce and I got the gluten free pasta in garlic sauce. Both were excellent and highly recommended. The cannolis were a little disappointing. All 3 came in a chocolate flavor which was good but became a little too rich. The one thing I didn’t like is that the restaurant felt cramped and drafty. They also do that thing now where they do a 3% surcharge if you use a credit card, which in 2023 is silly. The initial receipt you get is framed as a cash discount, so you have to do the math if you want to know what your final bill looks like. It’s just not an honest way of doing business in my opinion. It’s why I dinged them one star.

My son and I came here for an early dinner before I left for the airport to go home to Chicago (he's a student at Rutgers). We were incredibly surprised at the quality of the food and service. The restaurant is adorable with nuances, perfectly placed to give it an authentic feel. The food.... the food! It's absolutely delicious! I live near Little Italy in Chicago and the food at Luca's is so much better than some of the places I've been to at home. The pasta is fresh and do yourself a favor and try some of the seafood dishes. They're delicious! Lastly, the service is excellent. Our waiter was so delightful, polite, and helped us make our choices. I already can't wait to go back when we're back in the area!

I drive 1.5 hrs to get here and it's on my list every time I'm in town. They NEVER disappoint. I go in thinking I'm going to order something different but the short rib, it's unbelievable good. I always get it. My son had the Lucas, WOW what an amazing taste. By the way, those scallops will give you goosebumps how good they are. If you live in the tri state area. Take the ride, I guarantee you, you will be happy.

Great restaurant. I love the ambiance. Food was great. And service was fantastic. We had appetizers and main. Quantity was big but flavors were great and it was freshly cooked. Being a BYOB helped with enjoying our own wine. Will be back here soon.

It's been .more than a decade since the last time we dined at Luca's. I would venture to say it may be another decade before we dine there again. Not much has changed in the 10 year hiatus... the decor, etc. Is the same and its still a BYOB even though they now sell Hopewell Vineyard wines if you forgot. What certainly has changed are the prices. Appetizers are $10-$20 and entrees push $50. Pastas run around $30. We thoroughly enjoyed the bruschetta but found the eggplant unappetizing with too little eggplant and way too much ricotta. The poached pear salad was very good with a nice vinaigrette... certainly enough for two. Our entrees were disappointing. The chicken parm was tasteless and the red sauce was completely non-discript. Luca's frowns upon pasta substitutions so the rigatoni was cold by the time it got to the table. The chicken Bianca was likewise uninspired. Yes they are two of the more inexpensive meals on the menu but that does not mean you can just phone it in. We did not try the desserts which range in the $10-12 range. It should be noted that Luca's charges a 3.5% fee for using a credit card. More and more restaurants are doing this and I think it's a terrible trend. Bring cash or try your debit card which supposedly can't be charged the fee. Luca's was pretty busy the Saturday night we were there. Make a reservation and try it out. Hope your experience is better than ours.

Inventive, fun, cozy little Italian spot. The food was super good, along with the bread. They have wines available, but I had a Peaches & Cream Italian Soda that was fantastic.

Somewhere in NJ is an Italian restaurant where food is prepared with authenticity and passion. A lot of thought was put into the menu and decor. There are specialty fruit sodas from Italy and an 800 degree brick oven for pizza, bread and bruschetta. The pizza, calamari, no tentacles tho ' :(, seafood pasta, ossobuco, lamb, tiramisu...every single item was properly prepared. Sauces, spot in, not under, nor over seasoned. Also BYOB...just remember to tip the server well!

The food was phenomenal. Every dish we ordered was fantastic. From the breads and margherita pizza as an appetizer, to each pasta dish. Even the sauteed mushrooms were divine! And the molten lava cake with the hazelnut gelato was such a treat The servers were very kind and helpful. The only thing to note is that if you're on a schedule (like catching a flight!), it is a bit slow. But everything is made fresh, so it takes time.

Great Italian restaurant! May not look like it from the outside but it’s a fabulous spot. Really tasty food. Our waiter, Luca, was great. Would 100% return.

The definition of a true hidden gem hidden in the heart of Somerset, New Jersey, is the most fantastic Italian restaurant you will ever see. Now the food is Ischia so it’s a little twist on your normal Italian dishes, but if you ask me way, better! My waiter. Luca was friendly and attentive. The owner came over frequently to check to make sure I didn’t have any allergies, and how I was enjoying my meal. For the appetizers, I had the most amazing meatballs, which he got a write up in a magazine for, I also enjoyed the crispiest polenta and the burrata, which was so delicious and creamy It just melted in my mouth. For dinner I enjoyed two types of pastas. one the Valentino was rich and creamy with a delicious sauce & grilled chicken. My favorite was definitely the Luca with fresh shrimp, crabmeat & scallops the size of my head ! To end it all I had a delicious chocolate soufflé cake. The decor is gorgeous you’ll feel like you’re dining in a real European castle, if you haven’t been you must go !

Well worth the drive for excellent food with friendly, professional service. We got four different appetizer choices to share. Our server Sarah was delightful and gave us extra small plates for sharing our delicious entrees. Large parking lot outside. We brought wine and they also have a wine list.

Impeccable food and service. The dishes were brought out like they were supposed to be, not all at once like many dishes are. We were given different utensils for the main course as well. Food was 10/10 with amazing appetizers and homemade pastas. Don’t judge it’s location!!!

Best food and service experience one could ask for. Homemade bread, eclectic dishes, unforgettable flavor. Recommend Genovese and Costata and Mateo as your server. Thank you for the wonderful service.

Had dinner here a few nights ago - absolutely amazing. Do yourself a favor and get the meatballs. This restaurant is very authentic and you can tell how much they make in house. Sarah was our server and was awesome. She had wonderful suggestions and a nonstop smile. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve wanted to try this restaurant since I was a child, home from college got dressed up with a girlfriend headed over. We were sat right away. It’s cute and intimate, but our server took 10 minutes to come over and ask for our drink order (there were 2 tables in the restaurant the entire night) We waited for water for our drinks for the bread…everything just took awkwardly long. He was not unpleasant but extremely inattentive and I say that gracefully because he didn’t check on us at all. I had the risotto it was 2/10 unfortunately couldn’t try anything else because we just sat there waiting! Dissatisfying food and service the best thing was the bruschetta.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the delightful Luca's Ristorante and I simply must recommend. The food was exquisite, and the service was impeccable. Our experience with Sarah was excellent as well. She was incredibly helpful, attentive, and patient as our party of 8 navigated the menu and made our selections. Her knowledge of the dishes and pairings was impressive. Each dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. Everything tasted fresh and authentic, and the portions were generous. I had the gnocchi and it was so good. Like, melt-in-your-mouth good. And the bread they brought out was fresh and warm, with a crispy crust and soft center. As for the atmosphere, the restaurant was cozy and inviting, with soft lighting and charming decor. And the fact that it was popular with the locals really says something. Overall, we had a fantastic time and I definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking for some seriously delicious Italian food.

Really good authentic Italian restaurant. The food & wine selection has variety and the ambience has a very rustic italian feel. New favourite of ours.
