6 Mile Run

Tourist attraction β€’ Hiking area

πŸ‘ Went to Six Mile on 10/16/2021 to get in some good MTB. Very good XC/Blue MTB trails throughout. Met a handful of hikers on the ride, not too many. Many cool riders. Be aware of oncoming traffic. Still some bridge paths that are out due to last months storms. So you may have some jumps or detours to... People often mention trail, trails, bike,

Nice trail with, with mild/moderate trade. As you go deeper into the trail there are a lot of (unnecessary?) twists and turns. Watch out for bikes. I would say this trail is more suited for them than us walkers. One gentleman had a nasty fall and we had to help him up. He seemed quite dazed so we gave him a sip of water from our bottle and that seemed to perk him up. I didn't have my clinometer with me so my comments about average grade (i.e., steepness of the trail) is an estimate. Watch for small snakes. They are all over the place. We had to move one to the side because it was in danger of getting run over.

First time here and I loved it didn't know what trail I was riding until I got to a marker and notice I was on the blue trail. But absolutely loved every minute of it!! Looking forward to going back and exploring some more.

I came here with a few friends to bike and had an absolutely great time. These trails are not too technical, but on the same hand I would not feel comfortable going out with my family (people with 0 experience). If you would consider yourself to be athletic through any capacity, you can handle this, and enjoy the views along the way. I would not do this with an entry level mountain bike, especially if wet. if anything, its worth a day trip for the hike.

A bit challenging. Definitely not for beginners. If you don't know how to adjust your gears for steep you will cry on this trails. Some cool views. Fresh water somewhere on the way for you to get your feet in if you are hot and super tired. Trails mostly used by bikers. Some hikers here and there but they step to the side for you. Lot of communication between riders to prevent collision. Some open terrain along the way but nothing to worry about if you go early.

Great place to ride. 6 mile has a huge variety of trails. Do yourself a favor though and plan your routes there are alot of trails and can get a little confusing.

A good place to hike in the vicinity. Lots of undulations. Makes for an interesting 1-2 hour hike

Awesome trails for a hike or a solid bike ride. Stay away after rain the previous day as the trails hold onto the water well. Plenty to explore.

We are new NJ residents who have been living a city life for most our lives. Discovering this 6 mile trail walk was a blessing as we thought to only be disappointed and possibly not coming back. The trail offers a lot of opportunities for hikers but the trail is bias for the mountain bikers who which have the priority of the narrow road.hikers have to dive out the way cause they are going excessively fast or wedge in a brush and bushes to let them pass. In honesty, if this was the only problem may give this a 2 of 5 star rating as the trail is not design for hikers do to the shared path but what really gives this trail a bad review is the realization that we were covered with ticks. During this many bicycle passes we had to run against the brushes along side the narrow trail to avoid getting hit by a bicycle rider. It was 4 of us and we took out an average of 5 ticks per person. The trail needs major work to accommodate bidirectional traffic and hiker pathway. My family is fortunate we did not get bitten and run the risk of lime disease. If we did this would be a different topic and would do all i can to close this trail down. It is hazardous, this trail is not family or dog safe.

The trail is good for beginners. It felt like a moderate track for someone like me who has never rode a MTB track before. The tree roots were difficult for me since I had no experience navigating them. I had to stop and walk my bike over them. Some areas were very narrow but I did not have difficulty with riders in the opposite direction. The track is clean and well maintained. The built in moguls gave a nice challenge to the track. I was unable to get all the way up some of the inclines. I did not generate enough speed to overcome them and had to get off my bike and walk up. Parking lot was large enough to accommodate dozens of cars. There were a few Porta John's next to the parking area.

Great trail. Not very hard. But different things to look at so you don't get bored. A lot of bikers. Beware of that. The bikers are pleasant if you are just hiking. Just watch out and move out of the way.

Much better than going to Sourlands! Sourlands is great to hike but it sucks on a bike. The canal road half of 6 mile is very fast rolling the route 27 side has more technical zigzagging through trees and a couple of nice jumps going down the hill
