I was nearby about a year ago and decided to stop in. My family makes great food so I normally just get "frituras", rellenos, alcapurrias, etc. The food is ok, better than the nasty food trucks in Humboldt Park, but the services is just horrible. You never feel welcome when you walk in to order. You just get the "why are they here" look. You don't even get a simple "hello, how ya doing, what can I help you with?". So, a year later, out driving around with my family, we end up close o the restaurant. We checked with Google Maps to see if there was another nearby but unfortunately this was the closest. So we try again, and sure enough they didn't disappoint. The old lady in the front is just not friendly at all, just gives such a bad vibe. Three people up front, only one or two tables full, and I stood there for a while waiting to see if anyone was going to ask if we needed help. I decide to walk up to the counter asked if they had "morsilla", and the girl had no clue what I was talking about. So I just ask for 3 of each of what's in the window to make it as painless as possible and 3 pastelillos de pasta de guayaba. Make it short and sweet, and the mean old lady is the one that rings me up. Not a single word, hands me my receipt and a pen. Hands me my food and no thanks for coming in or goodbye. We sit out front in the car to eat, they forgot part of my order, I went back in and they had no clue either. I know it's a long review, but please take some advice, there are many reviews here that say the same thing, customer service is what keeps bringing people back, even if the food is just ok, but if you don't feel welcome, then why bother. I'd rather drive to the city or Milwaukee for some really good Puertorican food.

Have eaten here a few times over the last several years. Most recent was last week. I won’t be going back. Service is poor. No welcome. No thank you. They messed up checking us out. Food has gone downhill. Puerto Rican rice is so bland. We had Pollo Guizado - two very small chicken drumsticks and they included the chicken back! Gross. Also had Bistec Enceballado. Meat was not very tender and had no seasoning at all. The only thing we had that was good was Pastelillo de Carne. Freshly made and tasty.

Great flavor, loved the Emparedado Cubano, the soups and the Arroz Con Gandules with Guava Juice. Prices were great. Owners were extremely nice and helpful. Will go back.

My favorite PR restaurant outside of Chicago! Their food is amazing and delicious! I am never disappointed! I hadn't been there in a yr and I went for my bday recently. They've added a larger size drink option, which I love, because they have Parcha and it is delicious! Only improvement needed? The booths are in need of repair, some seats are cracked etc. Other than that... LOVE IT!!

We have been coming to this place for years and ultimately tonight was what we are hoping an off experience. 1. We got there early by 5:30 pm and there was no too little rice left (no offers of a substitute) The rice that was served was clearly from the bottom of the pan. Unfortunate because it’s a Puerto Rican restaurant arroz is generally a staple item. 2. Other food items were good however the service was terrible. The server at first was attentive but after we ordered and got our food we probably waited nearly a half an hour to get our to go items and checks just for the waitress to tell us when we finally got her attention as she clearly avoided our table that we can just go to the front to pay. Unfortunately this place has gone down hill. Even though we enjoyed the food minus the rice we will more than likely not be going back.

It's not every day that you find something new and unique, but that's exactly what this place is. The sandwiches I had were excellent and I have never tasted anything like them before. I will definitely return the next time I'm in the area.

I had the carne guisada with white rice and kidney beans. My friend had the grilled chicken sandwich panini style with fries. Everything was delicious. My friend said the fries tasted home made. The meal I had tasted like my aunt’s cooking! The service was prompt, our server was friendly, I will definitely be coming back!

The food was delicious and the customer service was very special. The atmosphere is totally healthy and very welcoming to be with the family. Truly my family is delighted with this restaurant. We are going to continue enjoying the food and the treatment in that place. I invite you to visit this restaurant. It will be a delicious and unforgettable experience for you and your family.

Closest Puerto Rican food around me and didn't disappoint. Growing up a white boy in Humboldt park, I have great expectations for PR food. Definitely filled my taste bud's of the old neighborhood!!!

I love the food here, especially jibarito with mayo-ketchup. I just wish the service was nicer, the lady that takes orders on the phone is very dry and short and doesn’t ensure she and the person on the other side understand each other, so my side was completely wrong from what I ordered. Even though i advised I had difficulty understanding her she dismissed it and just asked if I needed anything else. I think there is room for improvement - slow down a little and all will be perfect!

I ordered to take with me luckily I checked they had missed 2 items. Was not pleased with the pasteles. Not sure what flavor it had. And the plantain was over cooked. The soup was bland. The atmosphere was good but they definitely need more than one person in front. Overall I’d give it a 3 for effort

Food is delicious but one of the cashiers that is most of the time there is always very rude. Hope the owners take into consideration and talk to her, I ordered a "regular" size drink some time ago and she made a joke about it to the cashier of how I order it. That was my first time there so I had no idea they had other sizes.

Some of the best Rican food this side of the suburbs. It's quite a few pariso's out here, but I gotta say this one is the best one to me. Next time stop on by and give it a chance. I'm sure you won't be disappointed...

Ok food but service is horrible and people behind the counter act like they hate their jobs ... But what Established Restaurant closes at 7pm on the weekends 5-7 is literally when 90 percent of the world goes to dinner... Better off going to the city ..much better food and if your Puerto Rican u knw our families love to feed people..u wont get that feeling here

I enjoy the flavor of their cooking. I must say that as an Puerto Rican Islander, they make me remember my abuelita (grandma). Don't expect a fancy restaurant, it's a family small place but the food it's amazing. Service is good, p it was not busy when I was there, and the place is clean. They have plenty of parking. Don't leave without trying their Flan!

I went for pick up, first time trying the place. It had so many good reviews. The soup was excellent and their rice was very tasty, everything else that I got was ok. Nothing was bad. I think I was expecting too much. They were very busy, and it looked like the people who dined in had very good service too. I plan to go back and try out some other things.

Food is very good. The place needs a little cleaning, looks old. Lady behind counter not friendly, waitress not friendly, they seem they hated being there.

Food is good... the service nit at all... asked my server about a dish and she did not know. Zero effort to find out. Another client came to my table to explain the dish...

Everything was fresh and delicious! The sandwich bread was so soft and buttery yet crispy and crunchy! Chefs kiss! FYI kitchen closes at 6:45pm (probably due to pandemic) I recommend to call ahead just in case! Can’t wait to try the whole menu!

Excellent tasting dishes. One of the best places I've been in a while.

Food was really good, although, the rice was a bit hard and cold compared to the rest of the meal. My sandwich was delicious. Bread nicely toasted. The place is small. Service was fine. We got out bill quick enough, but we waited at least 10 min to pay at the counter. Not the best scenery either.
