(The latest review). I wouldn't recommend to buy the meat pies (called belyashi) here. The meat filling inside them looks undercooked. Also I was disappointed with potato pies here. The last time I bought them they were overcooked and burned. (Previous review) I especially love their chebureki with pork and with lamb meat. These are the best, juicy, genuine recipe-made chebureki in Chicago. My advice, before visiting this store call them and ask a seller to hold several chebureki for you because they will go fast. Also ther pierozhki with cabbage, vatrushki with cottage cheese are good too.

Never going back! All the ladies were very rude! Threw my bag on the counter. Lady that was helping me was sighing the whole time. There’s reviews on here saying the same thing. I never leave bad reviews. I can’t stand the rudeness.

Store products are not bad at all. Usually fresh. But the service… gosh.. ussr mentality. No one will ever smile. Staff is just above and beyond rude. I convinced myself every-time that this time would be different, but miracle not happening. Not sure if i will ever return again. Unless the owner changes it’s staff mentality.

the seller is rude, he answers a simple question with a complaint. The product is good, but I can't stand rudeness. The cashier does not pay attention to you, stands with his back. To make a sausage cut, you need to call her, and more than once. After payment, he simply throws a check on the counter and turns away to continue watching TV. Don't waste your time.

Very unpleasant experience. Was one of my go to grocery store. Good food however customer service is below ZERO, especially lady, that you see every time you shop there. Rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. Every time I go there, I spend over $200-$300, expecting just normal human behavior, like in USA (not in Soviet Union): hello, smile, ready to help and to satisfy customer needs, instead of showing attitude, been bossy and worst of all, getting to the arguments...

I wish I knew about this store before. All Russian and Ukrainian products are available. You feel like you're back home. Great customer service. I love their lamb chebureki.

This is a decent deli place. Their meats are way cheaper than I thought other places. The service is acceptable, but not great. If you're Russian speaking you'll be fine, but for an American, language can be an issue with some staff. Lines aren't that bad and the deli food is very good. All in all, nice place to shop.

The best place on Earth to order your Thanksgiving stuffed Turkey! It’s delicious and soft, cooked through. Stuffing was fantastic: rice with prunes, raisin and apricots. Highly recommend to order 2 -3 weeks before holiday, but they saved my holiday this time when I called 1 day before Thanksgiving day.

Long overdue 5 star review! This place is PREMIUM. Shout out to whoever cooks the Samsa and Piroshki, great batch today. Always consistent, delicious and diverse selection from back of store in pre-prepared to the deli. Whoever owns Akef should be proud.

Love this place! Unique selection of Eastern European deli meats, fish, fresh prepared deli meals, baked goods, grocery items and more. I have not been in there yet when there was an employee that spoke English fluently (but hey, I don't speak a second language either). Most labels and signage are not in English either. Nonetheless, everyone has always tried to be helpful. Still love going there! It's a tasty treat to escape the ordinary.

Came here with my toddler who really needed to use the restroom. Asked two ladies that work there and they said there is no restroom use allowed for customers 😲 and to go to the dollar store next door. I had a cart full of their items so I was a paying customer. Even if I wasn't, let's remember that having a restroom within your store for public use is a simple necessity. Owners-make the necessary changes to stop losing customers!!!

Absolutely terrible customer service. Unfriendly, angry and rude employees. There is no worse place to be found. You feel that you are not welcome here. Don't go there!
