Free spot open to public. Park your car at comstock covered bridge, hike around three hour along salmon river trail - follow blue sign on the trunk. Perfect timing to pay a visit during spring. All greenery in sight is fresh and glowing after a light spring rain. We cherish the moments in nature. Highly recommend to walk toward day pond waterfall - beautiful scene. Then loop back to get your car and drive home happily.

The access to this bridge and the creek below could not be easier. We enjoyed talking photos in the bridge and down by the creek with the bridge in the background. We saw a professional photographer taking photos of a family in the water. There appears to be a nice walking trail surrounding the bridge. I like how there is plenty of parking. It is a very family-friendly place.

Comstock Covered Bridge on Salmon River is listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Two other remaining covered bridges in CT that are also listed on the National Register of Historical Places are Bulls Bridge and West Cornwall Covered Bridge, both are on the Housatonic River, and supports vehicular traffic. Comstock Covered Bridge only supports foot traffic. The parking lot is adjacent to the bridge for easy access to the salmon River. The parking lot is unpaved and gets muddy during the rain. Bridge is made solid, and it is not going anywhere in years to come. This is an idle place for fishing, picnic, and hiking.

It is a place full of history, and natural beauty.Nice historic covered bridge. Hiking. Very uncrowded. The Salmon river runs under the bridge, and is awesome to fish or wade.

This place was beautiful! A hidden gem! The pictures you see are drone shots from the air! The parking lot was clear of snow, really muddy, but that’s expected after the snow we had a couple days ago! I’ll be back in the spring to see what it looks like!

Beautiful covered bridge, trails, and surrounding area to explore with your family. When water levels are normal, easy access to the Salmon River for further exploring, fishing, and maybe some rock skipping! Nice picnic spot too!

First time coming here, was absolutely beautiful! The leaves, the blue trail was wide and the uphill was challenging. The river was beautiful and on our way out we saw a bald eagle!

One of our favorite stops when out for a drive. A beautifully restored covered bridge that seems to take you back in time. Also has a little trail down to the river that I intend on visiting this summer. A perfect spot to Wade and read.
