I hadn't been to the aquarium before and while taking a drive on the beach my younger sister and I decided to pop in. The timing could not have been better! We made it just in time for the feeding. Although the seals were a bit full from their previous meal, the penguins were so adorable and ready to feast. Each penguin has a color coded band which helps the care givers identify each individual penguin. I could go on and on but it's definitely worth checking out. I found it very informative and also made some new penguin friends. So when you're at the beach pop in and see how our lovely small aquarium makes a huge change in these little fellas lives.

The aquarium was very nice. The workers who feed the animals are very friendly and let you feed the animals too. The entry fee is also not very expensive . The tour guides are also very helpful and friendly

Southern Africa's oldest aquarium, the spot is quite a small little aquarium but has a large enough selection to be well worth the minor entry fee. The seals are pleasant and the penguins delightful. The staff at the center are also very friendly and happy to tell you facts about their animals! (Did you know penguins cant jump?) All in all, well worth the visit if you're near East London and worth the visit if you're looking for something to do

Wow, haven't been here for a good couple of years, thought we'd get out the house and treat the kids to something different, and a treat it was! My eldest daughter, almost four was so excited! We arrived just before feeding time , which in the morning is 11:30. She got to feed the penguins, awesome experience for her. The place has really changed, expanded with a easy to walk on deck between attractions. Thanks so much to all the staff!

A close one on one with the sea creatures is what makes this aquarium great as we can see the animals from a closer angle

Nice little trip to the aquarium today with the family the place is a little run down but that is only because of funding and the recent flooding. The staff are fantastic and it’s well deserved visit which will also benefit the aquarium to. Just a warning that there are no lifts here and a fair few stairs to go up and down.

This is not the biggest aquarium there is, but it was fun to visit. There are a few tanks with colourful fish, a room with interesting facts about sea life, a pool with seals, another with penguins and two big pelicans. We arrived on feeding time (11:30) for the seals, penguins, pelicans and sharks (they're in a tidal pool) and the little ones enjoyed throwing fish to the penguins.

But the space is troubling me for the aquatic animals there, I feel they could be bigger. The place is nice and clean though. Must come during feeding time to see them feed its amazing.

The aquarium is small however has some nice options to keep the kids busy, there’s a variety of different fish but take your time going through them else you won’t be there for long. The reception was empty when we got there which can be a problem if you’re not willing to wait for someone to buy a ticket from. The seals looked very happy and we got to see quite a large shark in the outside rock pool even thought there were some strange people looking for things along the rocks there made me wonder how safe those fish were. There was only 1 towel collecting water from the leaking tanks which made me believe they were improving. They also have baby turtles that they will be releasing back into the wild. There are some stray kittens that look like they may need a visit to the vet.

Needs some major attention. The funds generated aren't being put back into the maintenance of the place. Nonetheless, an amazing place to educate kids while having fun 😁

It's good for a quick outing with the kids, unfortunately needs maintenance and there is no restaurant, convenience store or anywhere to get refreshments.

Interesting sealife but not a lot of vatiety. Staff very friendly. Seals and penguins amazing. Spectacular views outside on boardwalk.

What a disappointment 😌we were looking forward to the experience. Instead welcomed by an unkempt environment. Yes the aquarium is small and 'old' , it should still be treated with the same respect and dignity it deserves. Do something management

We enjoyed feeding the seals and penguins. Wish they had more different sea creatures like jellyfish pufferfish but overall nice and chilled, not too overcrowded

Great place to bring your little ones. My niece enjoyed feeding the penguins and seeing "Mr Krabs" in one of the tanks (it was a lobster). I just wish there was more variety. The place is clean, but the towels under the leaking tanks kinda ruin the appearance. I suggest bringing some snacks because there is no tuckshop inside.

Expected lots more for the pricing couldn't really do with an major upgrade and staff need to be in a proper uniform so they are identified...poor poor Eatern Cape ..

We always have a good time at the aquarium. Lovely variety of fish to see and fun feeding time for the seals and penguins. Little children get to throw the fish for the penguins, so bring along some wet wipes.

Had an awesome day at the aquarium with great knowledge of fish species. It's good to note the feeding times before going because you can actually feed some penguins. The aquarium could use a good tuck shop for snacks, but overall it was a great experience especially for the little one

We always visit when we are in East London. It's looking a bit tired, but there were maintenance/upgrades happening. If we don't support places like this they don't get the funds.

We had a lovely visit and the animals were beautiful, but I'm afraid the aquarium has rather poor management. The staff were all very friendly, but the lady at the reception let us pass for free and there were no card facilities. Some tanks' water were also quite filthy. I would suggest proper management, but it was still a wonderful visit. Thank you!

The facility has been closed due to the second covid19 wave being experienced in South Africa. Stricter lockdown level 1 regulations has been enforced for the festive season with immediate effect as of 14 December 2020. Beaches also closed in the Eastern Cape from 16 December to 4 January 2021

The staff are very efficient and friendly. The surroundings are well maintained other than the leaking tanks. The best time is at 11.30 which is feeding time. The seals are very entertaining. The staff allow the children to throw fish to the penguins. A lovely idea for a birthday present to someone is to "adopt" a penguin. Their name is put on the wall. The only downside are the vagrants that hang around outside

Enjoyed our visit. The staff is friendly but the facility is run down. The animals look healthy but the tank water is dirty, the tank decor is poor, thanks are over crowded, the turtles look frustrated with their limited space, the pelicans enclosure is small, they cant even fly around decently. I wont be back as I think the animals are not happy with their environment. They really need an upgrade.

There was what appeared to be and smelt like human feces on the steps between the stadium seats at the seal enclosure and the entertainment value of the aquarium is very low.
