    Honestly not as terrible as the reviews lead a person to believe. Extremely clean from the floor straight through to crocker and cutlery. No fishy smell and this coming from a picky vegaterian. Great variety of selections to choose from that are yummy. Pork belly full😝 trust me I tried them all, hahaha. Try the salad perfect combo of oil👌 My favourite from the whole meal panco zucchini. Friendly competent staff. Luvo the manager checked up on us and other customers. Love his friendly visible approuch. Waiter Nolubabalo, also know as babys, professional and gives a house warming feel. Keep up the good work. Perfect atmosphere, not to busy or over crowded. Great ambiance of music that isnt deafining. You can actually hear your company speaking. Refer to photo for best seats See you guys again for date day/night😉

    Love love love. Spacious with a view. Warm and friendly staff. My meal was prepared with love. Really enjoyed a nice relaxing meal.

    It was my wife's and I first experience here and we will definitely be coming back for more. The place is great, food was on point and decently priced, staff were friendly. Only reason it wasn't 5 stars is due to food taking nearly an hour to arrive when the place was pretty empty.

    First impressions - East London is still very much on rural standards. Most places are closed on Sundays. Ocean Basket Beacon Bay has other plans. That's how you collect loyal customers. Open plan. Glass fascade. Open view. Very modern look and feel. Food was good. Very enjoyable.

    We've been frequent visitors but stopped for awhile as we felt there food and service was beyond poor. Now our last couple of visits have been beyond amazing 👏 food is on another level , the sushi was to die for and the service wow 👌 I take my hat off to your staff and the massive improvement overall. Ocean Basket Beacom Bay , you guys rock

    I Had a terrible experience at OB Beacon bay. As soon as we entered with a group of 8 people we were unwelcomed by the person named Luvo. We asked if a table was available for 8 ,he remarked rudely that they are very busy , instead of advising to be patient , he could assist after if we wait .They were even customers behind us that were turned away , yet they was tables available. We received the rolls and had no plates and cutlery for about 35mins. After 45mins of wait for our order , we were told by waitress that the 3 doz Queen prawns we ordered were not in stock. We ordered 3 famous fish and chips 1 grilled and 2 fried. They gave us all 3 fried. The famous fish chips was absolutely black and over grilled from the bottom. At the end , while paying our bill we realised we were over charged : 4 Famous Fish and Chips when we ordered are 3. For a hunters dry - alcohol , we did not order They printed the slip trice. To justify my experience for the above I’ve taken pictures of the slip, food and not cutlery and plates on the table. I advise the the owners of the branch to have a look on the cameras of the whole experience we had at the restaurant. We spent for R1700-00 and it was a completely disappointing experience and waste of money. I wish the owners to contact me regarding this matter. I will NOT visit Beacon Bay Ocean Basket ever again.

    Bad bad bad... We were a group of three and one of two tables in the shop. Two meals came out cold and the last meal didn't even arrive. No manager present to check on us and our waiter not present as she was making the sushi?????? I eventually had to go find the manager that was under a counter counting stock to ask where my food was. Avoid this place like the plague

    Generally very pleasant wait staff and management, but the food was awful at time of service. Ordered the usual platter for 2, but the components of the platter was of mixed standard, the fish and prawns were good, but the mussels, squid and calamari was cold and the butter sauce was split(butter separated from the sauce) The chips was the absolute worst, it was stale as if it stood over from the lunch time rush and partially warned up before serving to us, it was rubbery. Will not come back soon

    Was there on valentines day. Very busy. Food took an hour to come out, but not complaining about that because they had a full house. Portions of food was not consistent. We all ordered platter for 1s but all our portions looked different and we were given way less food than we usually get at the same restuarant.

    I had a very pleasant experience here. The waiter and the waitress were very professional. They were also very useful in assisting me (a vegetarian) to get something to eat from their menu. My only regret visiting them is that they do not have the pure vegetarian options in their menu. So, I had to put together this and that, a little here, a little there, to get a decent meal.

    I'm only giving them a one star because I got a meal that evening, but otherwise it was a horrible experience especially with the manager... I truly am surprised this place is still running. The cutlery? Grimy. The staff? Cold. The ambience? Dead. But anyways, this wasn't what we (my family) expected from such a loved franchise, they didn't even baste the fish in the lemon butter Ocean Basket is known and loved for! Please, for the sake of this business, do better!

    Service has been shocking at this branch. We had an experience about 12 months ago as well and s Decided to give it a try again. Welcome is warm and friendly. But the service after that is not good. I ordered a fish and calamari combo which was supposed to be hake with grilled calamari tubes. It contained calamari heads. My wife ordered a platter with a side salad. When we were done eating the salad still had not arrived. Then it was offered still even as a take away. But late isn't it? We went there around 12 months ago. Food orders took forever and even then it was not correct. Tables ordering after ours were served and still ours did not arrive. It took ages to get the waiter back and then a different waiter took over. It was a special family event ruined by bad service and incorrect ordering.

    It is a special chain Fish is good as seafood. And many different choices. Service should be improved a lot. There is no organization as no knowledge about how to satisfy the customers. I would update my review, because I've been there again, and the feeling has been much better, maybe because that day was less crowd, i can say the service is improved enough, we were the last customers, and they made us feel important. this mean, everywhere there could be a difficult day, but when people work with passion, good results, come . thank you . :)

    Don't even deserve 1 star! We live approximately 2 hours drive from East London and decided to have a nice meal before we headed back home. Unfortunately we decided on Ocean Basket Beacon Bay. My family ordered sushi for starters and we ordered a main course each. We were told the sushi would be delayed as there were many sushi orders and we requested the main meals to be served as soon as they were ready. The sushi arrived about 40 minutes later. The main courses took more than an hour. My wife and son's order was wrong and my food was cold. I requested that the order be corrected and that my food be reheated. My food came back about 5 min later and my food was still cold. Not lukewarm, cold cold. I also requested that my wife and son's order be rectified and refill of drinks for the table, which never arrived. After another 10 minutes of waiting I requested that the manager cancel our orders and requested a bill for the food we ate as well as take away boxes for the food. When the bill came, it too was in correct as we were charged for the food which was sent back/cancelled and the drinks refills that we didn't receive. I also had to request the take away boxes at least 3 times. I felt the waitress was very unprofessional, calling me "lovey" in front of my wife and family. During our time at the restaurant, another family that arrived shortly after us complained that they had to wait 45 minutes for their drinks orders. They promptly paid for their drinks and left. Another family left soon after, after not being attended to since being seated. We left feeling upset and I drove the 2 hours home on an empty stomach. I would not recommend this establishment for their service or food.

    The service in this place was terrible. The staff seem to be overworked or something. Our waiter came out and couldn't greet us and she explained it was because she was tired and was upset because she was called out of lunch to serve us. Anyway. Another waiter dropped glasses on the floor. Her comment was that she was tired. The floor was left like that throughout our stay. I wouldn't go there. It wasn't even full so I don't get why they have staffing issues.

    On Saturday 24 October 2020 my sister and I decided to have lunch at Ocean basket. We arrived stood waiting for a bit no one attempted to attend to us to sanitizer or take our temperature. So we went and did it ourselves, there after we waited again to be seated once again no one attended to us we then we to get our own menus which where dirty it was by then my sister wanted to leave I however pleaded her to stay as I was really in the mood for some seafood. We found cleaner menus and seated ourselves 2 staff members made eye contact and briskly walked away. We waited a while then eventually walked out. And still no one attended to acknowledge us at all. The service or should I say no service was disgusting.

    Most disappointing service for Mothers Day. Waited for so long for someone to even take our order, when we got our food; we got cutlery 20 min later. Manager had no solution or sympathy for our issue and didnt even acknowledge our issues when swiping my card as we left. He had no skills to handle this restaurant.

    The food was great, but the service was not. Mains arrived before starters. Multiple waiters were trying to serve 1 table. It really wasn't a nice experience. We only went there because the Vincent Park branch was closed

    Wow, what a terrible experience. We were a table of 9 people and everyone had an issue of some sort on the table... starting with the drinks, one of our drinks that was ordered was forgotten while the other a strawberry milkshake had red onion in it... the manager was notified and he rectified the milkshake and brought a new one. On our meals, we ordered some sushi which was good but they had put 2 couples on one plate so we had to split it up and move it, one of the fish and chips had burnt fish, it was black... all the fries were dark brown and very oily like the oil wasn't hot enough and had not been cleaned in a few days... the wrong meals were brought to the wrong people so once again we had to move the meals around ourselves... our waitress came to the table twice, to take the drinks order and foods order... we never saw her again, no one checked up on us nothing... we all wanted another drink but never ordered it as no one came to the table again... the manager said he would void all these problems off our bill but when we got the bill they were all still on it... this was an extremely terrible experience and we will definitely not be coming back

    The food was delicious and it had an amazing atmosphere. The waitress got an order/bill wrong but otherwise we had an amazing time. I give 5 stars to Mr Beckham, he helped fix the order and was overall awesome towards us. Will definitely come back!

    Ocean basket Beacon Bay is a nice place to dine in. The food is delicious and the grilled fish in the fisherman's catch platter for two is out of this world. The price of that platter is unbelievable its very affordable. I enjoyed the sushi too and it was fresh and nicely done. The staff is wonderful and provide great service. The place is clean and inviting I also love the table decorations it's very beachy.

    Took my mom for a belated mother's day lunch. We were seated and was presented with a waiter that didn't know how to speak up. Didn't understand when we spoke. Asked for a double vodka with soda and ginger ale. For him to bring 2 singles in 2 separate glasses. We ordered food and had to explain 3 times my mom is gluten intolerant. So rather my mom get sick i asked for manger. He was also softly spoken and didn't come acorss as some one i could relay my message to. I told manager mom is gluten intolerant and plz make sure so flour. Also please make sure food and pans are hot. Good came. Rice was cold. We complained. Took forever to return with rice. Came back was still not hot. We ordered wine. Came with ice in a glass incase we wanted ice. With no utensil. We asked for a spoon. He said no spoon i found a fork. Have u ever tried balancing ice on a fork. We also go no utensils to have our bread in beginning. Once we ate our food my dad ordered salad the salad came when he had 3 chips left of his meal. How do u bring a salad out after we finished eating. Iv been to your eatery a few time and had a manager that's been brilliant and had seen some one managing front kitchen window. But today was dreadful i just wanted to eat and go. I won't be returning and will make sure i post this all over and tell my family and friends.

    This was by far the worst experience of my life, drinks late, food oh my goodness we ordered a starter but got mains first, chips uncooked, fish had no character, white bait & calamari swimming in not so fresh oil, then we got our sushi which was warm, disgusting & falling apart which took forever to come probably an hour cause our wine bottle was almost done. I then politely asked waiter what happened & he told me management had changed. This is by far the worst experience I never thought anything would beat my seafood experience after Cremone in PSJ

    I order a Fish Platter for 2 at 5pm, was told to come and collect in 20 minutes time.. It is now 17:45 and was still told to wait as our Takeaway Order is not yet done.. What a Joke, I've eaten everywhere around East London and this is the Worst Experience I've ever endured.. Do you have professional cooks? or what exactly is the Problem? Why would there be a Whole Hour delay, Infact I am not even hungry.. I have basically Donated R325 to you guys for this platter and it will probably end up in the Bin.. Very Disappointed!

    Food was nice Not sure if they limited staff because of Covid-19 service wise was not satisfied. I understand the new regulations at least come and tell us or when you take the order explain the situation. We all understand things are not the same waiting is not a problem if communicated.     Absolutely Horrible. Air-conditioning doesn't work and terribly uncomfortable to sit there and try to have a meal and a conversation while you're dying of the heat. And it's not even summer yet. The food and service is great, but I definitely won't recommend going there especially during the day. It's just too hot inside.
